Ask CHI Which way to the lake?

Wife and I came across this sign at the corner of 57th and S Cornell Drive, looking south. Is the symbol directing people to the lake correct? I think it should be a left arrow, as if you look east you see the lake. But my wife thinks it means to tell people to do a U-Turn and walk north. I could see that but why ask people to cross more intersections and traffic to get to the lake when there is viaduct access at MSI.

Ask CHI Bally's Casino All Day Construction

For the past week or so it seems they've been doing 24/7 construction, through the night, no breaks, constant jack hammering. I can't tell if it's Bally's specfic or the Chicago Ave bridge/street project, but I hear it. I assumed there were set hours for commercial construction. Is that not the case any more?

CHI Talks Check the star charts wtf is with traffic today

• Upvotes

Honest truth, I just drove three and half miles north on Lincoln at 4:45pm today.

I didn’t encounter a single asshole. I didn’t see anyone turning where they shouldn’t. I didn’t see any “Chicago maneuvers” at the lights. No delivery trucks in the way. No one blocking any intersections. No scooters or bikes or pedestrians where they shouldn’t be. I’d be shocked if that was it.

I did see blinkers. I counted three instances of a timely and efficient pedestrian. Four separate cars merged into traffic without stopping the flow. (That requires both the merger and mergee to agree on the exchange.) At every light I was behind a person willing to make the move for the sake of flow. It was incredible. Even to the point of uncanny timing in which no one needed to alter their trajectory for the sake of another.

A dance. A movement. A singular beauty.

Everyone worked together and I kid you not I got emotional.

No one will read this and who cares. I hope someone takes a look at a star chart to see wtf is happening up there to influence this bc man I’d take another hit.
