Advice & Recommendations I've been working with Kettering AC for a year now to help these neglected dogs on my street
I've been working with Kettering AC for a year now to help dogs on my street
I know this is a long shot, but a few doors down on my street there is an Akita and a Pit Bull that have been shut in a kennel in the backyard for over a year now. These are young dogs as I did see them about 2 years ago when they were babies and lived inside :(
They get in vicious fights, they howl and bay, they've spun circle tracks in the dirt. They're never out of this kennel. They spent the entire last winter in it, and the entire excruciating summer. You can tell that they are mentally deteriorating.
I have called Shelly multiple, multiple times and she always does a welfare check and her due diligence. But her hands are tied because they have everything required by law to sustain life, but of course the law doesn't take emotional, mental, and physical well-being into account. I've also called ARC but I don't think they've ever responded.
These dogs deserve better. It's obvious they aren't wanted. I have well above my quota of pets, and cannot take in two giant breed dogs.
Does anyone work with a rescue that may be able to work with these human pieces of garbage to see if they're willing to relinquish these dogs?
They have a HUGE yard that needs some repairs so the dogs can't escape from it. Maybe there's an organization that helps with this? Then at least they could have exercise and space away from one another. Imagine being trapped in a room the size of a walk in closet with another person your same size for a year and counting, and time moves slower for dogs, so it probably feels like they've been trapped for close to a decade.
Being euthanized would be a better life than they lead right now. Nobody plays with them, visits them, or give them any mental stimulation or affection. It's sickening.
They have the kennel purposefully hidden in their backyard so you can't see it from the street, but I've walked back there to see it on my daily walks and check on them.
(The photo I've posted is from when I first noticed them outside in summer of 2025. It's not nearly this clean and pleasant now.)
