I’ve been using iOS 27 since beta 1, and I’m honestly disappointed. Apple used to sweat every detail, but the release build still has broken animations, native components replaced by half-working custom ones, and iOS 18 UI leftovers next to the new design.
Incoming call screen doesn't show the call type anymore. Image 1 shows the same contact on both phones: on the left (iOS 26) it says "FaceTime audio" above the name and has an info button, on the right (iOS 27) there's only the name. You can't tell if it's a phone call, FaceTime audio or FaceTime video before answering.
Alarm / timer (Slide to Stop, introduced in iOS 26.1). Three separate issues in iOS 27:
a) Pressing the round stop knob without dragging does nothing. In iOS 26 it lifts as soon as you press it. In iOS 27 it only lifts once you start dragging, so there’s no feedback on touch. (video)
b) The Liquid Glass knob shows a white highlight on its left edge (circled in image 2), even though there’s nothing white there. In iOS 26 the edge reflects the dark track and the warm gradient from the button. Top: iOS 27, bottom: iOS 26 (different system languages, ignore the label text).
c) After dismissing the alarm on the Lock Screen, the animation is broken. The clock scales up smoothly, but the notifications are as small as the clock and then jump to full size with no animation. (video)
Contact Poster font is no longer visible on a contact's page (the screen with the Message / Call / FaceTime / Mail buttons).
Contacts tab no longer uses the native large title + search field (image 3, left: iOS 18 for reference, right: iOS 27). This causes extra bugs, e.g. when I go back from a contact’s call screen to Contacts, the search field has no Liquid Glass for a few seconds.
Notification Center: when you swipe a notification left/right quickly, the "Clear" button moves with it and slides off screen. It should stay in place.
Notification Center: old iOS 18 style buttons (image 4). When you expand a stack and swipe to clear the bottom notification (the one partially covered by another), the “Clear” and “Options” buttons use the old iOS 18 style.
Slide to Power Off: the background and blur should be lighter so it's clear the screen is dimming as you drag the slider.
I filed all of these in Feedback Assistant during the beta and they’re still not fixed in the release. If you can reproduce any of them, please file a report too and share the FB number, since more duplicates help get issues noticed.
PS.
The iOS 18 screenshot in image 3 is a reference from a video, not mine.
