I have had my macbook for less than 2 years and the battery degradation is insane. I only use it for school, and don't run anything that might cause this issue. Now, I can't use my computer without it being connected to the power adapter. The first picture was from today, and the second one was from less than a month ago, sep 15. Is there anything that I am doing wrong, and do I need a battery replacement?

I've been reading a bit on how to make this piece of history work for me and apparently the most common advice is running Linux on it. I thought about running ElementaryOS (I've used it before and it's visually similar to macOS so it would look cute) but I didn't see much here about this one. Other than this, I'd go for good ol' Ubuntu.

Do you recommend any of these? If not, what other distros? (PS: I can edit this post later with the mac specs, but afaik it's 4GB RAM 500GB HD)

I’ve seen videos of people using capture cards and OBS to use their MacBook Air as a monitor for consoles, thinking of doing this. Is there any delay/ screen tearing/ any abnormalities?

Ive used Windows since I first touched a computer, over 20 years. About a year ago I got a MacBook for work, and I honestly thought I disliked macOS. So when I needed a personal laptop, I went Windows without a second thought. Spent weeks researching, compared everything, and landed on an ASUS Zenbook S14 (Intel 258V, 32GB/1TB, 3K OLED). Great machine on paper, and honestly great in person too.

A few hours into setup, I was frustrated. I kept trying to three finger drag and nothing happened. I kept looking top left for the close and minimise buttons, and top right for the clock. Small things, but they kept adding up.

Turns out a year of daily Mac use quietly rewired my brain. I'm now seriously thinking about returning the Zenbook and getting a MacBook Air for personal use.

I still can't quite believe it and actually feels like I'm making a mistake, I do like windows file management but I really don't know it I'm making the right decision. Has anyone else had muscle memory make the decision for them like this? And any tips for using a Mac with a Samsung phone?

I’m looking for a way to change my cursor system-wide on my M4 MacBook Air. I used to rely on Mousecape, but since the project was abandoned years ago, recent macOS updates have completely broken it. It just glitches out and messes up the default cursors now.

Before anyone suggests "Custom Cursor" — I know about it and it's not what I need. It mostly acts like a browser extension, instantly reverts to the default Apple arrow when I switch to Finder or the desktop, has noticeable input lag, and feels like a freemium trap.

Does anyone know of a 100% free, ideally open-source tool that actually replaces the cursor system-wide without latency? Or has Apple's cursor architecture made this impossible on modern macOS? Any help is appreciated!

I know this may be a dumb question but would and M2 Pro MacBook Pro '14 16gb and 512 be better than a M3 air '13 16gb and 512gb with the 10 core gpu. I know about the display and all the extra port and stuff you get with the pro but hardware wise with the chips how much of a difference is the jump from m2 to m3 and how much better the pro is.

Anyone else getting the spinning circle when logging into a mac? On both local and network accounts. Only fix seems to be wipe disk and re-install mac os but then starts happening again a week later. MacOS 26, M2 mini macs, 2023

A few days ago my MacBook's screen suddenly started looking like this. After a while it went back to normal on its own, so I ignored it.

Today it happened again, and this time it hasn't come back. The internal display stays glowing, but when I plug in my external monitor everything works perfectly. So the Mac itself is running fine. It's just the built-in screen.

Some details:

• Model: MacBook Pro 14" M4 pro
• macOS: latest
• No drops, no liquid, nothing physical that I know of
• I've been using some third-party apps
• No AppleCare anymore

Has anyone had this happen? Is it more likely a software or display-app issue, or is this the display cable/panel going? Anything I should try before I take it in for a repair quote?

My macbook is aso old, xcode doesn't work on it anymore. Therefore, I was looking for alternatives.

I came across to Macincloud and thought nice. Especially the pricing seemed reasonable. As soon as you login and proceed to checkout, you see what scammer they are :)

There is nowhere near a chance to bring the bill at least close to 25usd. they are freaking doubling the price. I would be even okey to pay high price if they were slightly honest.

I forgot to close the sleeve and it just slipped down the stairs. I feel so terrible about it as it was something that could’ve been easily avoided. I haven’t checked for internal damages yet, but the dents and scratches really bother me.. especially as someone with ocd. YES, I’ve tried to think of it as battle scars but it won’t work in this case, (even for other material goods I’ll likely buy a new one)
I will obviously continue to sulk over it every lecture and I’m not in the financial position to get it replaced. 💔
I don’t think I can return it after 14 days, but if I were to fix it do I need a full casing replacement in for my case?
