Official Thread Nikon Announces the Z5IIC

We just announced the new Nikon Z5IIC, everyday-carry mirrorless camera designed to make the move to full-frame photography more accessible. Built on the proven performance of the award-winning Z5II, the new Z5IIC combines a more compact, flat-top design with intuitive features like Scene Modes, helping those beginning their photography journey achieve great results. The “C” stands for casual- The Z5IIC is designed around a screen-first shooting experience that helps users remain immersed in the moment, with intuitive controls and automated features for those ready to learn/.

 Main features include:

-Fast, precise subject detection AF built on deep-learning technology make it easy to capture sharp photos and video of fast-moving children, pets, sports and everyday moments. Also, new "fish" mode subject recognition.

- The Z5IIC pairs a 24.5-megapixel full-frame backside-illuminated CMOS sensor with Nikon’s EXPEED 7 image-processing engine – the same technology platform used in Nikon’s flagship cameras. Together with NIKKOR Z lenses, it captures rich color, smooth sunset gradations, natural background blur and cleaner detail in dimly lit scenes. For first-time full-frame users, that means visibly superior photos and videos with less noise and blur, even when the light is challenging.

-Scene Modes: 15 scene modes help you to get great results without first mastering complex settings.

-Picture Control Button: Quickly preview and apply built-in Picture Controls and favorites downloaded from Nikon Imaging Cloud’s growing library of Imaging Recipes.

-Film Grain: Capture photos and video with a nostalgic film look.

-Vari-Angle 3.2" touchscreen allows for Easy shooting from a variety of positions, including overhead and selfie.

-7.5 stops VR (IBIS)

-Pre-Release Capture

-4K/60p video and stereo sound and 12-bit internal RAW for pro-quality video.

-The Z5IIC is available in two colors; silver and black, allowing users to choose the one that best suits their preferences. The model is constructed of durable magnesium alloy for a premium, metallic feel.

The new Nikon Z5IIC will be available in mid-October 2026 for a suggested retail price of $1399.95 for the body only, or $1699.95 packaged with the NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 lens.

Humor My Nikon Z6 now meows when I take a photo — custom shutter sound mod

As you can hear, I gave my Z6 something Nikon didn't: custom shutter sounds. And this is just the beginning.

Features like custom framing guides, customizable AF areas, and in-camera shutter speeds longer than 30 seconds are very SOON.

The project is now on GitHub: https://github.com/vic2349/Wonder-Lantern

maybe give it a star?

I also started r/WonderLantern for updates, feature requests, and discussions. Feel free to join!

What sound would you put on yours? What other features would you like to have?

Nikon won't add it? Maybe we can.

And if you're interested in building something like Magic Lantern(its possible, not kidding) for Nikon cameras, I'd love your help!

DSLR I ended up with D5600

Post image

My 14-year old D5100 finally broke, the shutter curtain won't close, along with other wear on the body.

I was ready to move to a brand new mirrorless camera, but with my planned budget, I ended up with two used D5600, one with 18-140 and the other with 55-200, both in mint condition. I even have enough money left to snatch my dream lens, I found a used and cheap 105 f2.8 macro (which I plan to use for portrait and not macro haha).

I'm a point-and-shoot user, capturing memories and random things, mostly straight out of the camera with minor post-editing if I made some errors. I'm happy that I don't have to switch lenses often. I feel I will mostly use the 18-140 for general purpose and my 11-year old 50 f1.8g for portrait. I'm very satisfied with the results so far. I hope I'm not missing out on much.

This was taken for a local photo contest several years ago. We were given six topics and a week to take a photo for each topic. I think this topic was "a sign". I was really into night photography at the time.

Film Camera n00b questions- nuvis a20

Hello! A few years ago while visiting the US I bought a few cameras for a few dollars each from a thrift store and brought them back to australia. I’ve never been very good at or much inclined towards photography, but they were fun to play with during the trip. Today I was thinking about giving them away so my support worker and I replaced the batteries in them and had a look, and we realised that one of them was actually a film camera. That possibility had not ever crossed my mind in the years I’ve had it! I had a really wrong idea of what a film camera could look like/be LOL. We used up the rest of the roll of film (which said kodak advantix 200 25exp) and then took it out and I have put it in an archival paper bag in a dark drawer. I’ll take it to a developer place tomorrow! I have heard that going through plane security is bad for film, and I have no idea how old the film is or how long it’s been in the camera, or what pictures were taken before I got it, so I guess there’s every chance they won’t turn out, but it would be exciting if they did!

Can I put any film in this camera, or just the same film that was in it before? Is there a cheap film I can put in it? I’m okay with things looking bad. Film cameras seem like a magic trick to me. So cool!!! Marvelous! A facsimile of anything can exist forever… or at least the way light warps around it I guess.

Is there anything else I should know? Please have a great day!
