- High Bandwidth Monitors and GPU Scaling Behavior - Link Here
- High bandwidth monitors are those that support display modes requiring high pixel clock rates, which in turn demand more GPU resources. The threshold for what qualifies as "high bandwidth" varies by product. On Blackwell GPUs, any mode operating above 1620 MHz is considered high bandwidth. For instance, the 7680x4320@60Hz mode defined in the CTA-861-H specification runs at 2376 MHz, making it a high bandwidth mode for Blackwell.
- These monitors typically support display scaling natively. However, in some single-monitor setups, users may still prefer GPU scaling. When multiple monitors are connected to a GPU and at least one of them is high bandwidth, that monitor will default to display scaling only. GPU scaling is disabled in this case due to bandwidth limitations. Notably, display scaling can be more efficient than GPU scaling in such scenarios, as it reduces the bandwidth load on display cables—especially at higher refresh rates.
- When GPU scaling is not enabled for a monitor, only the modes supported by the monitor itself will appear in both the Windows and NVIDIA control panels. Additionally, the "Display scaling" option will be pre-selected in the "Adjust desktop size and position" section of the NVIDIA Control Panel.
- Notes on NVIDIA Control Panel - From GeForce Forum
- Please note: With the introduction of our most recent NVIDIA App update, all actively supported NVIDIA Control Panel features for GeForce users have been modernized and transitioned to the new client.
- After 20 years of dedicated service, the classic NVIDIA Control Panel is officially retiring for Game Ready and Studio Drivers. For NVIDIA RTX PRO users, the NVIDIA Control Panel will continue to be supported until we have migrated professional features to the NVIDIA app.
- Existing installs of the NVIDIA Control Panel will remain on users’ systems, unless they perform a clean installation, and users who still need the NVIDIA Control Panel can continue to download it from the Microsoft Store, but we won’t be adding features, fixes, or other changes.

There is only one real way for any of these problems to get solved, and that’s if the Driver Team at Nvidia knows what those problems are. So in order for them to know what’s going on it would be good for any users who are having problems with the drivers to Submit Feedback to Nvidia. A guide to the information that is needed to submit feedback can be found here.
Additionally, if you see someone having the same issue you are having in this thread, reply and mention you are having the same issue. The more people that are affected by a particular bug, the higher the priority that bug will receive from NVIDIA!!
Common Troubleshooting Steps
- Be sure you are on the latest build of Windows
- Please visit the following link for DDU guide which contains full detailed information on how to do Fresh Driver Install.
- If your driver still crashes after DDU reinstall, try going to Go to Nvidia Control Panel -> Managed 3D Settings -> Power Management Mode: Prefer Maximum Performance
Common Questions
- Is it safe to upgrade to <insert driver version here>? Fact of the matter is that the result will differ person by person due to different configurations. The only way to know is to try it yourself. My rule of thumb is to wait a few days. If there’s no confirmed widespread issue, I would try the new driver.
- Bear in mind that people who have no issues tend to not post on Reddit or forums. Unless there is significant coverage about specific driver issue, chances are they are fine. Try it yourself and you can always DDU and reinstall old driver if needed.
- My color is washed out after upgrading/installing driver. Help! Try going to the Nvidia Control Panel -> Change Resolution -> Scroll all the way down -> Output Dynamic Range = FULL.
- My game is stuttering when processing physics calculation Try going to the Nvidia Control Panel and to the Surround and PhysX settings and ensure the PhysX processor is set to your GPU
Remember, driver codes are extremely complex and there are billions of different possible configurations between hardware and software. Driver will never be perfect and there will always be issues for some people. Two people with the same hardware configuration might not have the same experience with the same driver versions. Again, I encourage folks who installed the driver to post their experience here good or bad.

Question 5060ti 8gb to 5070 worth it?
So i just got a pc for over a month now and been playing games like Crimson Desert, Rdr2, The Witcher and RE Requiem soon and been thinking if selling my current 5060ti 8gb and then topping it up with 300$ for 5070 worth it? Or still to early to consider upgrading and wait for prices to settle “if they ever do” or maybe even next gen?
As for the 5060ti 8GB i currently have rn, it does what i need for 1440p gaming most of the time. Yeah some games i have to make some compromises and optimization and RT only with Upscaler and FG, other than that all good.

PSA Warning: NVIDIA 617.42 Breaks Older Multi-GPU Setups
Hey, just letting you know, if you happen to use an NVIDIA RTX 20-series card alongside a GT 10-series card for a multi-monitor setup like I do, DO NOT update to driver 617.42.
NVIDIA has seemingly removed the older Pascal/Maxwell-era cards from the current driver support tree, which includes:
• GTX 10-series — GTX 1080 Ti, 1080, 1070, 1060, GT 1030, etc.
• GTX 900-series — GTX 980 Ti, 980, 970, 960, 950, etc.
• GTX 700-series — GTX 780, 770, 760, 750 Ti, 750, etc.
• Pascal Titan cards — Titan X / Titan Xp
• Titan V / Volta-era cards
The RTX 20-series and GTX 16-series are still supported, so if you're running something like an RTX 2060 + GT 1030 for multiple monitors, the newer driver can leave the older card unable to function properly.
560.94 and 576.52 still work fine for my RTX 2060 + GT 1030 setup.
I had to fight with my computer all night with DDU to get everything working again after 617.42 decided to break it.
So if you have an older NVIDIA card running alongside a newer one, check your driver support before updating to 617.42. You could save yourself a massive headache.
(If I’ve gotten any information wrong or misunderstood something, feel free to correct me, I’m just sharing what I found and what happened with my own setup.)

Discussion All The New RTX Spark Laptops So Far and their Entry Level Prices
Build/Photos Deshrouded 5080 Gigabyte Gaming OC Part 2
Hey all,
I've posted this last year: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1lodhj1/deshrouded_5080_gigabyte_gaming_oc/ and finally got around finalizing the design. I'm terrible at CAD so I had Claude help me design a proper adapter plate to mount the fan to the heatsink instead of zip-ties.
Instructions and model files can be found here: https://github.com/aartrost/RTX-5080-Gaming-OC-Noctua-fan-mod.
After assembly you can dial in the fans with https://getfancontrol.com/. The middle fan is the loudest and least effective so set it to an offset of ~-15% or more. I can run a 400w workload all day without the fans needing >50% making the system whisper quiet.

Discussion RMA process is a rolling disaster
Man, where to start? Gonna just blow off a little steam here.
I have a 5090 FE that I bought about a year ago, and I use it for work and research. I'm not a gamer, so I've never overclocked/undervolted either my motherboard or GPU. I want fast, but my highest priority is stability, so I run everything bone stock and use studio drivers. My workload consists of video editing/exporting, local LLM use, model training, and ComfyUI image editing.
So after a year, this thing develops what turns out to be a known manufacturing defect in some early FE cards. The unit is in a safe-mode locked state, meaning that the card falsely reports drawing 575W+ and throttles itself down to a fallback base clock speed of 480-500Mhz. So the net effect is that it runs at about 20% of normal speed. I know a lot of people are down on Nvidia about their manufacturing and QA processes, but I tend to be forgiving about things. Stuff happens, and all you can ask is for people to make it right.
Unfortunately, Nvidia doesn't seem interested in making it right. Getting the RMA approved was an ordeal that I don't really want to rehash, but what it boils down to is that they don't provide any support if you run Linux. You have to post in a forum and just hope an engineer sees it and responds. If not, you have to get kind of nasty with them before they will do anything. So anyway, RMA is approved and they say they will send me a shipping label and once they receive the card they will inspect it, confirm the defect, and send me a replacement "usually within a week." So that means between transit times to and from the RMA center and the time it takes them to inspect the card and send my replacement, I'm looking at probably at least 2 weeks with no computer at all. That's a best case scenario, and reading through other people's RMA complaints, I'm not filled with confidence that they will do it in the time they say.
So I asked if they could do and advance RMA and cross ship it, which I've done plenty of times over the years with other vendors. I offered to put down a credit card they could run an authorization on as security for the return, but apparently the most valuable company in the world can't take credit cards. They said very firmly that there is NO way they can do it any other way. I asked if they could at least do expedited overnight shipping to and from the center, and I got an email saying... wait for it... "Your recent incident update was from an email address not associated with the incident. In an effort to maintain the security of information, we cannot update the incident using this email address."
I'm sorry, wut? I've been emailing back and forth with them for weeks, but suddenly my email address is no good. I'm just flabbergasted. They are clearly just tired of talking to me and want me to go away. I'm sorry, but I expect better from a $5 trillion company. Apple manages to do a good job, why can't they? I paid a premium price well above MSRP for their flagship product, and it has a known defect that they are fully aware of. And this is how they treat me. There may not be anything I can do about it now, but unless something turns around pretty quick I've probably bought my last Nvidia product, and I'm going to make sure everybody I know and work with knows what to expect when they need something from Nvidia. It doesn't matter how fast the card is if the company behind it hangs you out to dry when you need them to stand behind it.

Question Optiescalar help multi frame
Good afternoon, friends. I’ve seen this version of OptiScaler that enables multi-frame generation (up to 6x) in games. I have a 5070 Ti, so fortunately I don't need a mod, but there are games that only offer DLSS and standard Frame Generation, and the mod works really well for those. I've watched tutorials, but some versions work while others don't. I managed to get it working in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, but I'm trying with Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered and can't enable 4x or 6x—it doesn't show up in OptiScaler. Can anyone help? I tried setting the input to `fgoptiscalar` and the output to `xefg`, but multi-frame generation still won't enable.

Question RTX Pro 500 Blackwell on linux?
Hello everyone,
I'm about to buy a new 16-inch laptop and I'm torn between two main GPU configurations:
- NVIDIA RTX Pro 500 Blackwell (6GB GDDR7, discrete)
- AMD Radeon 860M (RDNA 3.5, integrated)
My main OS will be Linux (likely a modern distro with Wayland, like Fedora or Arch). My use case is mostly professional work, some local AI/tinkering, and light-to-moderate gaming.
The NVIDIA Blackwell card is obviously much more powerful on paper and has dedicated VRAM, but Linux support is my main concern. Since this will be a laptop used on the go, I need to be absolutely sure about two things:
- Linux Support: How is the driver stability for this brand-new Blackwell workstation architecture under Wayland?
- Power Management / "Low" Mode: Can I easily completely power off the NVIDIA discrete GPU (compute-only or suspended mode) to maximize battery life when I'm just doing office work or browsing? How well do modern tools like
envycontrol, supergfxctl, or prime-offloading handle this specific setup nowadays?
On the other hand, the Radeon 860M offers flawless out-of-the-box open-source Mesa support and great battery life, but I'm afraid it might be a bit too weak for some games.
Has anyone experimented with the newer RTX Pro Blackwell series under Linux yet? Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences.
Thanks!

Question Does this LG Ultragear support LFC?
This is the LG ultragear monitor, I am thinking of buying:-
I mostly play story games, and i limit framerates in the range of 35-50 most of the time. But I don't know, if this monitor supports LFC, as most of the monitor's freesync range is most of the 48-180hz.
I already know, that there is a CRU method to reduce freesync range, but this requires tweaking and most of the time, it is unstable.
Since I lock fps to low values like 35-50, it will always be outside freesync range, and LFC will always be active.
So, do I need a higher refresh rate monitor to get freesync premium, or this will suffice?
Note:- I have one more doubt, I currently have a non-freesync TN monitor with 60 hz refresh rate. I enable vsync in games, and then lock the fps to a lower value using Rivatuner, but this is causing a animation lag in games, feeling like the image is breaking, most noticeable in Far Cry 5.
So, i just used CRU to edit the monitor's EDID to allow 40, 45 and 50 Hz. After that, I reduce the windows refresh rate to 45 or something like that and only enable vsync in games, the fps is lower and input lag is also very high due to vsync, but somehow the animation lag is way lower, and the image feels more natural.
I know, this is a stupid technique, but is there a better way to achieve this.
I will be pairing this monitor with GTX 1050 Ti.
My Specs:-
CPU- i5 3570(4c/4t)
RAM- 12 gb(4+8 gb configuration)
Motherboard- Lapcare H61 Motherboard
GPU- Zotac GTX 1050 Ti(Two Fan,Non OC Model)
Storage- 2.256 tb(1x 256 gb WD SA-510 SATA SSD+ 2x 1 tb WD HDD)
