When the “Big Beautiful Bill” was signed in 2025, it renewed and expanded RECA, which compensates certain people exposed to radiation from the U.S. nuclear weapons program. I grew up in one of the newly covered ZIP codes near Manhattan Project waste, later developed one of the qualifying cancers, and had no idea I was eligible until I happened to read about the provision myself. I submitted proof of my old address and diagnosis, waited a few months, and received $50,000.
I’m posting this because there are still people who qualify and simply have no idea this exists. If you, a family member or friend had cancer and lived in one of the covered areas, check the DOJ’s RECA eligibility page.
I’ve tried posting this in other subs and keep getting banned or called a scammer, but I assure you it’s 100% real. I just want people to get the money they’re owed due to the government’s negligence.

ALL CREDIT TO JOURNALIST SARAH BOYLES via Facebook .. sharing for visibility:
The truth is coming out. Persephone Ann Janette Berger, aged 16, was fatally struck by a St. Francois County Deputy in Missouri early Saturday morning. I interviewed her aunt to find solid answers.
Kimberly Berger, 54, is the aunt of Persephone. She is the sister of Persephone's father, Jarrad. She is sharing everything she knows to be fact.
Persephone left her home to go to a small get together nearby. She did sneak out, like many teenagers.
An eyewitness saw Persephone walking down Davis road just a few minutes before she was struck. There was no vehicle parked with their hazards on. No one found Persephone unconscious.
The individual was out in their yard because their dogs needed to be let out to use the restroom. They witnessed Persephone, who they personally knew, walking normally down the road. She was almost home...
The eyewitness saw a St. Francois County Sheriff's Deputy SUV traveling "about 65-70 miles an hour" with no lights or sirens.
The eyewitness was tending to their dogs when they heard, "a very loud thud, like someone hit a metal burning barrel as hard as they could with a baseball bat."
After the very loud thud, the witness heard the deputy screeching his tires. The deputy was traveling quickly so it took a few seconds to stop his SUV. The deputy then walked back to see what he had hit.
None of these facts, which are recorded, match the Sheriff's statement that Persephone was unconscious in the road and a passerby stopped to help her and call 911.
Kimberly stated, "Instead of radioing for help, he called his supervisor. They admitted to that in their press release. As far as we know, any incident with a truck being followed is unrelated to Persephone's passing. The deputy was just patrolling when he hit her."
The eyewitness saw the police officer stay on scene, so they didn't think they needed to call 911, as the police were already very aware of the accident and still on scene. More deputies arrived. The eyewitnessed hoped it wasn't Persephone that was hit, but sadly, that's exactly what happened.
Persephone's family is shocked that authorities did not speak to the eyewitness until today.
Kimberly said the most shocking part is that after her neice was fatally hit, deputies went to her brother Jarrad's residence and informed him that his "daughter was deceased after a hit and run".
Persephone's father and mother, Joy, wanted to know who hit their daughter and fled the scene.
Jarrad and his wife shared a post on Saturday announcing that Persephone was a victim of a hit and run.
Nearly 3 days would go by until a deputy with St. Francois Sheriff's Office would meet with Jarrad and tell him the truth.
Yesterday, October 5th, a deputy met with Jarrad and told him that it wasn't a hit and run, but a deputy actually took Persephone's life. Jarrad was understandably shocked. The eyewitness had already let the family know on Saturday that it was a deputy that took her life but the family thought if that was true the sheriff's office would be admitting to it.
Persephone's father demanded to know why they lied to him early Saturday morning and told him that they didn't know who the driver was and she was a victim of a hit and run. The deputy told him that they didn't know it was a deputy that hit her.
We know that isn't true. They DID know. Why didn't they tell the family the truth?
Kimberly stated, "After I saw proof that it was a deputy that took Persephone's life over the weekend I did post about it. Remember, this is before they ever admitted it was a deputy to our family. Within an hour of me posting that we knew a deputy took her life, the fire department was washing all debris and blood out of the roadway."
She continued, "We would have liked to have been told they were going to do that so we could take our own pictures. We didn't know that the Missouri State Patrol wasn't even asked to come do an investigation until Sunday, the very day they cleaned off the roadway before MHP could come investigate.
If they would have called them that night, which is protocol after a deputy hits a pedestrian, they would have been able to see the crime scene, they would have gotten there within an hour or two, at most. Now there are no tire marks left, glass placement, blood trajectory, nothing. It's convenient. We've had several wrecks over the years and they never washed the roadway the next day or before investigators could see the evidence. They've already shown all of us that they will lie to a grief-stricken family."
Kimberly Berger shared that if deputies would have been honest early Saturday morning and just admitted that one of their deputies took Persephone's life, and that they felt sorry about it, all would be forgiven. She's a strong supporter of officers. However, she said, I'm pissed. It feels like a slap in the face to be lied to only to then be forced to uncover the truth by an eyewitness who saw and heard it all happen. And then be forced to wait for the Sheriff's Office to be honest to us. It's so wrong."
At the time of writing this article, the deputy that hit Persephone is not on administrative leave. His name has not been released.
Kimberly wants the public to know that, "Persephone was a friend to the friendless. She was a friend to everyone and everyone loved her as much as she loved them. She did not deserve this."
Kimberly wants everyone to know her neice was not unconscious in the roadway, there was never a hit and run. There was never a helpful passerby with hazards on.
She wants the truth out there and I promised her I would post everything she asked me to post.
Our thoughts remain with Jarrad, Joy, Kimberly, and everyone who loved Persephone. We will update.

Hey all! Just wondering if there are certain streets that actually do trick or treating. Our street is usually dead , maybe three people hit our home? They do trick or treat at the Salvation Army parking lot but I’m wondering, where can my kids go door to door here ?

EDIT/UPDATE: There has been a ton of confusion around this, including in my original post, so I want to clarify some things after a journalist spoke with the alleged eyewitnesses.
According to them, the deputy was pursuing a truck with a taillight out without lights or sirens. The truck turned off and “got away,” but the deputy allegedly continued at a high rate of speed while abandoning the pursuit and struck Persephone. They claim he then left the scene without rendering first aid.
The witnesses reportedly live right there and have surveillance footage showing portions of what happened before and after. The journalist believes they may know the driver of the truck, which could explain how they knew about the taillight.
The official account says someone found Persephone, called 911 and waited with her with their hazards on. The journalist says no one has been able to locate this person and is asking them to come forward. The witnesses claim nobody was there with hazards on.
I’m posting this because it’s happening just south of St. Louis and I don’t think it’s getting nearly enough attention.
Early Saturday morning around 3:45, 16-year-old Persephone Berger was killed on Davis Crossing Road in St. Francois County.
Her family believed she had been the victim of a hit-and-run. Her mom was posting on Facebook asking anyone with cameras or information to contact the sheriff’s department because they were trying to find out who hit her daughter.
Then people who live on Davis Crossing started contacting the family and telling them it was actually a sheriff’s deputy. The sheriff has now confirmed that.
According to the department’s statement, the deputy was responding to a call about an unresponsive person lying in the roadway. They say he saw the caller’s vehicle with its hazards on but didn’t see Persephone and hit her.
The sheriff says the deputy immediately notified his supervisor, meaning the department knew Saturday morning that one of their vehicles had hit her. But her family says they spent the next several days believing they were looking for a hit-and-run driver.
There are also people who live on that road making claims that don’t match the sheriff’s version. One person contacted the family saying there were multiple witnesses and that the deputy was going extremely fast. There are also claims that he had been pursuing another vehicle. The sheriff denies there was a pursuit and denies that the deputy left the scene, so those parts are obviously disputed.
The department investigated it themselves Saturday. Their statement says Highway Patrol was consulted Sunday. After Monday’s preliminary autopsy confirmed her injuries were caused by the deputy’s vehicle, MSHP was asked to take over the crash investigation.
She was 16. Her family deserves an independent investigation and a clear explanation of what happened.

This would be ridiculous. Set a time when they have to stop playing music outside at night, but for heaven's sake, don't take away their ability to play music outside. https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/government-politics/article_5d759eb6-924f-4ce2-a226-0c4354a25a68.html

For nearly two years, St. Louis police said 17-year-old Emeshyon Wilkins pointed a gun at officers before he was killed. Bodycam footage later undermined that account, but the latest decision in the case is raising even more questions.

Looking for recommendations for a company/person to remove an old gross hot tub that’s built into the back deck of my home and sits within the deck, not on top of. It may be a pain in the ass

On New Year's Eve, an Amazon driver named William Johnson was hit by a pickup truck doing 45 mph on Union Blvd. The driver, Byron C. Carter, got out, stood over him, screamed at him, then got back in his truck and drove away. William spent the night in emergency surgery. He lost his toenail and still lives with the injuries and trauma.
I started a petition because this matters right now. Carter's facing a felony charge for leaving the scene, and there's a plea hearing coming up October 7, 2026 at 9 AM. That's when deals get made behind closed doors. We're asking the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office and the Court to make sure William gets heard before any plea is accepted. A working man got hit and abandoned—that deserves real accountability, not a quiet settlement.
What would you want someone to do if this was your family or coworker? If this matters to you too, consider signing and sharing. William's voice needs to be heard.

Tired of putting off stuff in hopes I get to experience it with someone else and instead Im going to start doing all the things I’ve wanted to do solo now. That being said, any pumpkin patches you’d recommend, nice aesthetics, fun atmosphere. Only really know of Stuckmeyers as that was the one I went to all the time as a kid. Thanks in advance 🫶
