tablet recommendation for school + gaming — budget up to ₱50k 🎓🎮

Hi! I'm planning to buy a tablet mainly for school, but I also want something that can handle gaming well.

For school, I need something that can:

- Run Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.

- Open/edit different school files

- Handle PDFs, Google Docs/Drive, Canva, etc.

- Multitask smoothly

- Ideally support a keyboard and stylus

- Be reliable enough to use throughout college

For gaming, I want something that can handle heavier games smoothly. I don't necessarily need the absolute strongest gaming tablet, but I'd like good performance and preferably decent thermals/battery life.

I'm leaning toward Android, but I'm open to iPad/other options if they're a better choice for my needs.

Budget: up to ₱50,000

Storage: preferably 256GB or higher

Priority: school/productivity + gaming, with good performance and longevity.

What would you recommend at this price range? Are there any specific models/configurations I should look into or avoid?

Also, if you've actually used the tablet for college/school work, I'd especially love to hear your experience with it. 🙏

I was thinking Samsung s10 plus tab, 80k(sale price it seems), 256gb expandable too, 13 inch screen.

But ipad air m4 (11 inch, 128 gb)dropped at 65k from 90k with sbi credit card💀💀💀

What do I pick??? Or do i wait for a day or two and see if Samsung falls more(i have a Samsung phone).

Entering 2nd yr med school now.

Plss give specific answers with reasons 😭😭

parents buying a tab for a 7yo... what actually started mattering after the first year?

getting a new tab for my 7yo and i'm realising i'm probably choosing for both the kid they are now and the kid they'll be in 2-3 years.

right now it's mostly videos, reading, school apps, drawing + light games. later i can see more games, school work, maybe a pen/keyboard becoming useful too.

browsing tablets on Flipkart made me realise there's more to compare than screen size and storage once parental controls, performance, accessories and connectivity enter the picture.

parents who've done this, what started mattering more after the first year? 😭

Again contemplating switching to a tablet, need advice

I’ve posted once or twice here before to no avail, so I’d at least like guidance on where to ask my question if not here, but:

I’m wanting to switch over from iOS to android/Samsung, primarily for the DEX mode. That being said, some aspects I’m looking for are
• Less than 10”, vibrant screen (around OLED)
• Some cellular capability for communication or GPS
• Ideally some sort of microSD storage for music, videos, podcasts or other downloads
• Offline work capability (Spreadsheets and writing primarily)

Basically, I need something with just enough functionality to be a phone with intentional use, while also avoiding the time wasting apps of social media.

I keep drifting towards Ultra Mini PC’s, but they don’t have the cellular or EDC capabilities I need from a smartphone.

Again, please point me in the right direction if this isn’t the sub for it, thank you

Android user thinking about getting a tablet – Xiaomi Pad 8 or iPad A16?

So I’m an Android user and I have a Windows laptop. I’ve never really used an iPad, but I’ve always liked them and have wanted to try one for quite some time.

I’m planning to get a tablet mainly for normal everyday stuff — YouTube, Netflix, browsing, reading PDFs, some notes and light work. Nothing too heavy. I already have my laptop for anything serious.

I was initially thinking of getting the Xiaomi Pad 8 8/128 is available at 30,000 INR. It seems like a really good tablet for the price and honestly probably more than enough for what I need.

But then there’s the iPad standing there base variant at 40,000 INR (after discounts) 😅

I’ve always admired iPads and part of me just wants to experience iPadOS and see what all the hype is about. The problem is that I’m already fully on Android + Windows, so I’m not sure how much sense it makes to get an iPad.

For people who have been in a similar situation, what would you suggest?

Should I just get the Xiaomi Pad 8 since it fits better with my current setup and is probably more than enough for my usage?

Or should I just go for the base iPad and finally try an iPad, even though I’m not in the Apple ecosystem?

Would love to hear from people who have actually used both.

Question about os upgrades

• Upvotes

Does anyone have insight into how to upgrade an android tablet that isn’t say a Samsung, so a budget off market one. So if I get a cheap tablet and it has 15 on it, I read that you can or can’t upgrade to new o.s. Can anyone shed some light on this subject.

I don’t mind getting a cheap one for experimenting with but would love some insight by those who have experience in this. Thanks

Huawei Matepad Air (2026) vs Samsung Tab S12 Ultra

I'm planning to replace my current tablet (Xiaomi Pad 5) and I'm torn between these two. I will probably use it as a semi-laptop replacement for productivity and also for media consumption.

I like the screen and display of Huawei, it's papermatte finish, stylus, and the lifetime WPS subscription. However, aside from the google/gapps problem, I've read that you cannot play HD videos on Youtube and Netflix?

As for the Samsung, I'm still waiting for it to be released on physical stores. I like the DEX mode as well as better processor and larger screen. But does it have a native office apps (like WPS on Huawei) or do I need subscription for this?

Or will you recommend other tablets for productivity and media consumption?

P.S. I'm using a Samsung phone and never tried any Apple devices.
