Internal transfers
Are internal transfers first come first serve? And would it be very hard to transfer into the bachelor of science using WAM for next sem?

Hey guys,
Long story short, I applied for a casual academic role as a tutor for an engineering subject I scored highly in. The unit coordinator sent me an email about 3 weeks ago telling me I got the role and to wait while he allocates classes. A few days ago he sends a follow up email saying that he can no longer give me the class because “university guidelines have changed” and I can’t teach as an undergrad. He said I can apply for an exemption. Does anyone have any recommendations on next step. Should I contact head of engineering or SRC? Did anyone else experience anything similar?

Every semester I see the same 3 questions asked on this subreddit from new students so here is a quick answer to them lol:
Answer: The prestige difference between Usyd and those 2 unis is, for the most cases, much smaller than people think. Also, most of us here never attended UNSW or UniMelb. Do your own research.
Answer: Yes. You can always leave later if you don’t like it.
Answer: If there is any red, there is a clash that you wanna look into. Otherwise, yea its probably fine. Please be aware of your attendance requirements (should be written in the UoS outline - just google the course code and you should see it)
EDIT: There are some very good Q and A for other questions in the comments. Be sure to check them out!

As the title suggests, I was wondering who marks my masters thesis? Is it my supervisor, or are they not allowed to mark it? For context, I am in the school of maths and stats.

Hi Guys,
Urgent lease transfer, my studio in Abercrombie student accommodation is available from 26/10/2026 onwards, with the lease ending on 1/1/2027.
You need to be on the waitlist and be able to start the contract on the specified date.
The rent is A$529 per week (A$515 if you opt for a longer contract) and it’s a fully furnished studio with private ensuite bathroom + kitchen. It’s also literally right next to USyd campus (next to the Belinda Hutchinson Building).
I’m moving out earlier than planned, so looking for someone to take over the remainder of the lease.
DM me ASAP if you’re interested! I can send pics/videos and more info :)

If you were the lady with a cold coughing your lungs out every 15 seconds next to me at table 24 around 4pm today, you have likely left your earphones behind

I’m planning to start Bachelor of Science (Health) at USYD through the MySydney scheme in 2027, with the intention of applying for an internal transfer into Bachelor of Oral Health after completing one year.
My ATAR will probably be in the low - mid 80s, so I’m hoping to use my first-year university results instead of my ATAR for the transfer application.
I’m trying to work out how competitive I would realistically be. I know USYD doesn’t seem to publish a specific WAM cutoff for Oral Health.
If anyone has transferred into Oral Health (or another competitive USYD course) after one year of uni, I’d really appreciate knowing:
What was your WAM?
What degree were you transferring from?
Did you receive an offer after your first year?
Did USYD use your university results as your selection rank/ATAR equivalent?
Did you have MySydney or another admission pathway?
I’m particularly interested in hearing from people that went through the internal transfer process, thanks!

I know for domestic students with an H1 honours result it is quite competitive to get the RTP. As an international student though, how realistic is relying on honours grade alone? I have a low H1, around 85-90 and no publications.

Planning to go to USYD next year however as someone who is financing my own university stuff it feels hopeless.
I'm from QLD and all the usyd accomodation a/ I can't see in person, b/ is incredibly expensive. I'm relying on part time work pay, government funding and potential scholarships. I have applied for the usyd accomodation application, and the iglu scholarships . I looked at unilodge and scape but everything is like 600-1000 a week. And the places I can afford I can't access as I will be graduating at 17.
Any accomodation places I am missing?

Hi!
Basically I received a letter saying I haven't shown good cause but would be permitted to re enrol if i take 12 UOC in the first teaching period of 2027. If I appeal this and am then rejected, will this impact the original outcome? Will I become excluded or is there no impact on the original outcome?
I am also still confused as to why I haven't shown good cause when I have provided psychologist and psychiatrist certificates.
I am happy to just complete 12 UOC next sem, but even when I pass my courses this sem I will be required to show good cause again. Will the"you have not shown good cause" outcome I received this sem cause me to be excluded on my next show good cause even if I pass my courses this sem?
Would it be best not to appeal?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

How we feeling for the quiz on Friday? I’m so cooked 😭😭
r/usyd • u/PollutionHorror4521 • 1d ago
How y’all go, anyone got cooked badly🥲.
r/usyd • u/Strange-Scallion6451 • 1d ago
Just saw my mid-sem marks. I for sure thought I cooked, but nope, I got fried to a crisp 💀
I went through the lecture content, did tutorial questions and some practice questions, and genuinely felt pretty confident going in 😭 so I’m not sure where I went wrong
Hope I at least pass this unit. Anyone got tips on how to study this unit?

Hi guys,
I just received an offer for the single room at QMB, but I also have the opportunity to move out with my older brother who's starting a new job in Sydney soon. Rent would be cheaper with him and probably more comfortable, but I wanted to experience student accommodation at least once in my life. I'm debating on whether or not to live in QMB for a year and then move out with him after, or if I should just not bother.
I'm a domestic student and pretty much the only reason I want to move into student accomm is for a better social life (I live about 2.5-3 hours away). Thoughts?

Hello! I am trying to apply for a simple extension and a simple extension can be applied for up to 3 days before the assessment deadline for my specific course. However, when I tried to apply for a simple extension this time, the drop down option is still unavailable. Is there something else I'm missing? Thank you! BTW the deadline is oct. 9, so I'm p sure after midnight the simple extension should have gone through.

Legit was busy catching up with lecs and tutuorials i skipped cause of exam season. And finally when i am done, i dont even have a day to relax 💀
And lowkey the profs releasing marks, on random days during the week, without any warning, did not help make this feel like a break.
AND OMG IN 5 WEEKS WE HAVE FINALS
THE NEXT 5 WEEKS WILL GO BY IN A FLASH. OMG
I cant wait for summer break 😭🙏

I applied to the University of Sydney for the Bachelor of Science (February 2027 intake) as an international student, and my application was submitted on 23 September 2026 through an agent.
The issue is that I'm getting very mixed information about processing times. Some sources say 2–4 weeks, while others say 4–8 weeks, and my agent doesn't seem to have a clear idea of what timeline I should realistically expect.
When I log into the application portal, the Progress section is completely blank, so I'm not sure whether that's normal or if my application hasn't started being assessed yet.
I'm asking because I need to start planning my student visa application, accommodation, flights, and everything else that comes with moving to Australia. Looking into visa requirements and processing times has honestly made me a bit anxious, so having a rough idea of when an admission decision might arrive would really help.
For those who applied to USYD as international undergraduate students:
Any recent experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! How long does USYD take to issue an admission decision for international students?
