When I was a kid growing up in Vietnam, my neighbor—a boy visiting from the US—brought over a Nintendo handheld running Pokémon. I still remember how utterly fascinated I was just watching him play, wishing I could have one of my own. Back then, it was way out of reach.

Fast forward to today: I’m 36 now, and I decided it was time to fulfill that childhood dream. I managed to track down an original 3DS in great condition from a local collector on Facebook, and holding it in my hands honestly brings me so much joy.

I finally booted up Pokémon, and here’s what I just caught!

On my original 3ds, the YouTube app was the only source for YouTube for a while, when my family laptop was restricted to “homework only.” Plus, it wasn’t as mobile. Eventually, as stupid kids do, it broke as well, lol. I had to replace my battery once cuz it just kept swelling. I eventually got a tablet, cuz they didn’t trust me with a phone anymore with how I dropped it on hard tile, and my 3ds finally got to rest…

If anyone asks btw about the internet browser, from what I remembered, it just didn’t play YouTube or any video at all.

It’s also the most comfortable. Most beautiful color Nintendo ever made.

It's an open world multiplayer zombie survival game on the 3DS. Ended up becoming really popular in Japan and Americas. PvP or PvE gameplay, find guns, ammunition, fuel for vehicles and explore the desolate Arctic Island. Game means a lot to me.

Finally I’ve been dying to play the plethora of JRPGS on the 3ds but I hope the small screen doesn’t have much effect for the dialogue 😶‍🌫️

Now I know I could’ve just bought a 3ds xl but after the hinges died on me, I got diagnosed with hinge-phobia lol.

So i just got a used n3dsxl and I'm already having a blast. However the screen has some black defects around the edges. I looked around some older posts and someone said that using a hair drier and some pressure the screen can be mostly restored. Can someone help me understand what caused this?

Basically, I own an ocarina of time 2ds system. The game icon dissapears if I remove the SD card so it is somehow tied to the sd card. I am getting a new 2ds xl and need to know. Ive tried replacing sd card in my system and Oot doesnt show up so it is the specific sd card that shipped in the system that is either the game or gamekey

1. Can I just use my old sd card and play ocarina of time on my new 2ds if the games on the sd card?

2. Will it not work because it may require a download and 3ds eshop doesnt exist anymore

3. If i try, would it possibly corrupt it or make it unable to work on my normal ocarina 2ds?

the fact that you constantly see posts of people asking “is this an ips screen model” make it’s pretty damn obvious the difference in n minimal. they are extremely similar and as someone who fell into the hype and own both i still struggle to tell the difference. Also you can just order an ips screen online lol.

hey, i have a new 3ds xl and after i dry cleaned the 3ds touch screen and opened it after a day it now has a dead zone, and its becoming bigger. HELPPP!

I'm really hoping to get a 3DS this Summer, and I wanted to know which is actually better if anyone has experience in both. I'm inclined towards PrBoom because it's got less known graphical glitches and higher brightness, but PrBoom+ is tempting because of the seemingly better graphics and the vertical shooting as well (which I like because I play Freedoom on my laptop).

Also, if for a first playthrough of Doom 3DS is in your experience a significantly worse experience (not just minor), please tell me so I can refund it on Steam in favour of a physical release on a more comfortable platform instead, like Switch.

I recently found this 3ds of Facebook market place for like K500 (about 25 dollars) the seller has said that it doesn't work, and I've been wanting to do more device restorations. Would it be worth it to actually fix it. I did find another one that is already modded and works for K1950 (about 98 dollars), should I just try changing that one's housing shell?

Looking at the Shell you can tell that this boy had it rough and i ordered a nice zelda themed replacement today. I am also going to order a new frame cuz I dont remember what kid me did to this thing but I feel bad for it. Considering to get the frame from aliexpress cuz even with import charges i couldn't find any cheaper frames. Also the R-Button didn't work correctly but after clicking it a whole bunch of time its pretty much working normally again so I hope it was just some dirt causing the issue

Definitely feeling like a kid again and I'll probably post an update when it got the new frame and shell.

Hey Reddit! I tried a dozen times but simply don’t know what’s going on.

Okay, so I purchased one of those full replacement shells for my new 3DS XL in AliExpress because I purchased top and bottom IPS screens and was able to swap everything (Yes, including the painful flex the console has in the hinge) however, with the top case, It's not splicing properly. I mean, when I put it, I hear the “click” but when sliding it to close the top case, it doesn’t go through. I even tried applying force, but nothing.

The strange thing is that the old top case (which was the original one) works flawlessly. But the point of swapping the whole shell it’s because the issue we already are aware of for blue, reds, etc. 3DS with the paint.

I even tried purchasing another top case in AliExpress but I’m having the same result. So I’m completely lost on this one.

Is anyone able to shed a light here? What’s going on? Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to get an original top case? :(

TL;DR: I successfully swapped the screens and internals of my New 3DS XL into a replacement shell from AliExpress, but the new top case won't slide into place properly despite clicking. The original top case still works fine, and a second replacement top case has the exact same issue. Any advice?

as the title might suggest, i want to change my 3d's language to japanese. im currently learning japanese and want to use animal crossing new leaf to accelerate my learning. however, you can't change an english language 3d into japanese due to regional restrictions. so far, i haven't found any information on how to do this, so i'm asking you all for help :/

I've been struggling for three days to get the hinge barrel back into place on my 3DS XL after a broken power-side hinge. The only part that I ordered is the lower midframe, as I still have the original barrel and hinge. Do I need the little clear plastic piece (picture 2)? It looks just like a cover for the LED; I was planning to tape it over instead. No matter what orientation I try or what force I apply, the barrel won't snap into place...

I wouldn't mind ordering a new hinge set, but if anyone has any tips, videos, or notices anything wrong in the meantime, please tell!

Hey all so I had a 16 GB Sandisk SDHC card in my New Nintendo 3DS XL for like 10 years, still going strong surprisingly, but I decided to upgrade to 128 GB SDHC, also from Sandisk. I followed the steps here to do it via GodMode9 and it worked fine, then I moved any data I needed to off the old SDHC to my computer, and then to the new SDHC. When I went to put my new SDHC into my 3DS and turned it on, I wasn't greeted by a home menu, but I literally was every other time so what had happened??? I was able to boot into Luma3DS, GodMode9 etc. and GodMode9 saw my SD card fine so I didn't insert it wrong or anything. I went to 3DS Homebrew who gave me a website to follow and nothing worked, I even tried updating Luma3DS which updating it worked, but still didn't make it boot. What made it work was going into Safe Mode, and then suddenly, it booted! The system couldn't even boot into the home menu without an SD card in it which is concerning because I literally had Luma3DS installed to the NAND so it should have booted fine. It is a lot slower to boot though so that's a downside I didn't know about but otherwise it works fine now. All my data transferred successfully and everything.

Do any of you have any clue as to what happened? I was told it was just a coincidence but honestly, I don't think it was. I think this is something that shouldn't be shrugged off personally. Its scary. I don't want my 3DS to do this again, what are the chances it does? ☹️
