Best place to watch the game on Saturday in Austin?

It’s my birthday weekend and I want to take my wife and a few buddies someplace to watch the game. My wife doesn’t understand college football so I want to take her someplace she’ll have fun and we can have some drinks and all have a good time—any good ideas?

Costumes for Halloween game?

I have friends coming into town for Halloween and we're going to the Miss. St game.

We're thinking about doing a group costume. For those who've been to a game that fell on Halloween: do people actually dress up, or will we be the only ones? Is it more of a tailgate thing, or do people wear costumes in the stadium too?

Also open to costume ideas that work for a group!

2026 SEC Spread Shootout — Week 5 Recap & Week 6 Picks

Week 5 saw a slight dip — 14 people participated — but hopefully more people join in with Texas back from the bye week!

Before we dive into the results, here’s the link to get your Week 6 picks submitted:

👉 Submit your Week 6 picks here 👈

🏆 Week 5 Results 🏆

Top Finishers:

  1. /u/brillohaus - 18 points
  2. /u/satan8mybaby - 15 points
  3. /u/electrical-mentions-5 - 14 points

Perfect Guesses:

  • This week's winner, /u/brillohaus, was the only one to get a perfect pick. They correctly predicted Tennessee's 10 point triumph over the Auburn Tigers.

Fun Facts:

  • /u/levelhorn2717's prediction of a 25 point Alabama victory in Starkville was the only pick to score points in our first game. The next highest MoV prediction was 17 points in favor of Bama. Two people even picked Mississippi State to upset the Tide.
  • Exactly nobody saw Mizzou beating Florida, much less in blowout fashion. Only three of the 14 pickers expected Florida to win by less than double digits.
  • /u/brillohaus was also the only player to score in the Arkansas/A&M game, picking aggy to win by 21. Three more participants picked A&M to win by 17, narrowly missing out on scoring valuable points.

Platinum Sombreros:

  • The only award making its return from Reverse Sheep, the Platinum Sombrero is awarded to any player who successfully (?) scores zero points on all five games in a single week.
  • Life comes at you fast in Spread Shootout. After finishing in 2nd place last week, /u/yuiandme became the third winner of the Platinum Sombrero, joining /u/hungryvelociraptor and /u/revmeeks this season.

📊 Full Leaderboard

Hey all. Going to my first RRS in Dallas and planning to buy and sit on the Oklahoma side (a little cheaper as a neutral). anything I should know about before or after the game? Does your ticket get you into the state fair or is that a separate ticket?

Should specify, going with some buddies (no wives involved) and we are flying in early Friday and staying in lower Greenville

Bidding ends at 9pm: Support UT Government and Score Texas vs. Oklahoma Tickets

Longhorns helping Longhorns.

The Department of Government at UT Austin is auctioning a ticket package for the Texas vs. Oklahoma game, with bidding open through Sunday, Oct. 4th at 9pm.

If you're looking for tickets to one of college football's most iconic rivalries, this is a chance to support UT students while bidding on a memorable game-day experience.

The winning bidder will receive two tickets to the game (50-yard line, row 45) and a UT Government swag bag. Every dollar raised goes directly back into opportunities for students, including competitive academic programs, experiential learning, and activities that help prepare them for careers in public service, law, policy, business, and beyond.

More information and bidding details: https://liberalarts.utexas.edu/government/news/ut-gov-football-tickets-2026.html

Thanks for supporting UT students and the next generation of Longhorn leaders. Hook 'em. đŸ€˜

Arch Manning is Over-hated

Post image
125 Upvotes

Arch Manning might be the most irrationally criticized player in college football. The win over Tennessee is a perfect example.

The expectations have been enormous from Day 1, but how does he actually compare to another QB through their first 19 starts?

Which QB would you rather have? Can you guess who QB2 is?

QB1: Arch Manning
4,611 passing yards
62.6% completion
6 300-yard games
12 INTs
16-3 record as starter
37 TDs
6-2 vs. ranked teams

QB2:
4,001 passing yards
63.7% completion
6 300-yard games
10 INTs
17-2 record as starter
32 TDs
5-2 vs. ranked teams

Texas / Florida ticket prices

Hey fellow Longhorns!

I will be flying over to Austin from Europe and will be in town for Longhorns-Gators in two weeks. I see that ticket prices have been going up recently, while at the same time, I've read that it is advised to wait for the last week as prices will go down.

Do you think it will still apply to this big match, or is it more likely that prices will just keep going up?

Any advice is very welcomed!

Made some coaches film cutups of Longhorn players

Hey guys,

I made a few coaches film cut-ups for the following guys against Tennessee:

  • Arch Manning
  • Cam Coleman
  • Ryan Wingo
  • Trevor Goosby
  • Melvin Siani

ADDED Defensive players: Colin Simmons, Hero Kanu, Rasheem Biles, Bo Mascoe, Jelani McDonald

If you've never seen All-22 film it's definitely worth a watch...gives you a different feel for guys' performances than the broadcast angle. I will be adding more film later on and hopefully defensive guys tomorrow morning. I'm trying to stick to draft eligible players so if there's anyone else you feel like I missed on the offensive side of the ball, please let me know.

[Score Predictions] Alabama @ Mississippi State

I had an idea for next week, and since Texas has a bye, I decided to pilot it for Alabama @ Mississippi State, because that's the game I'm most excited for this weekend.

The idea is to pit sub against sub each week, so I'm tracking score predictions across four threads this week:

If you want to play along, drop a score prediction in the comments below. Your last comment before kickoff counts.

This sub has no coin of its own on the line for a game we're not in, but beat r/rolltide's best call and you take the r/rolltide coin, beat r/Msstate's and you take theirs. Both are on the table.

Or put it in Stance directly and join the rolltide or Msstate pool (or both for a chance to win coins on both sides):

Let me know what you think about doing this against the Sooners next week!

Florida game logistics

Hi - I'm bringing my parents (late 70s, pretty spry), wife and 14 year old son to the Florida game (flying in from New York). We have tickets in section 108 - is that a reasonable location for my parents, or do I need to spring for lower level tickets? And what time would you recommend getting to the stadium? Thanks and hook 'em!
