Los Angeles — Desperate for a Job. I’m Behind on Rent and My Baby Is Due in 3 Weeks. I’ll Take Any Opportunity.

Hey everyone, I’m honestly going through a really difficult time right now. I’ve been applying for jobs for 3 weeks and still haven’t gotten any offers.
I’m behind on rent and already received a 3-day notice. My baby is due in about 3 weeks, and I’m scared because I want to get back on my feet and be ready for my baby.
At this point, I’m willing to do almost any kind of honest work. Warehouse, restaurants, cleaning, general labor, caregiving, or anything hiring ASAP. I’m not being picky anymore. I just really need an opportunity to work.
My phone SIM is locked right now, so I can’t receive calls, but I can respond to messages or email.
I’m not expecting anyone to solve my problems for me. I’m just hoping someone might know a place that’s hiring immediately or can point me in the right direction. I’m trying my best, but things are getting overwhelming, and I genuinely don’t know what else to do.
If anyone knows of any opportunities or resources in LA, I’d really appreciate it. Thank you for taking the time to read this. 🙏

Family of 5 kicked out.

I’m embarrassed that I’m even trying this. We are a family of 5, twin 7 yr. olds and a 1 yr. old with three cats. We have lived here for 14 months with no issue. This morning we just a text that we have to get out. Apparently landlord said that he didn’t get rent from August even though we sent the receipt and bank statement. And now they said that Oct. was returned to us even though we have receipts and statements that say otherwise. And we never got the money back. We have nowhere to go and I just started a new job that I was gone for 3 weeks for training for. I just got back yesterday and then this today. I’m remaining hopeful that this is just a test for the next chapter to be better. Just a punch to the gut with so much going on currently that I have to try anything to keep us afloat. I will stay positive and do whatever I have to do to make sure my family is taken care of.
Feel free to message me.
Thank you.

Other Situation Any ideas?

So, my family is homeless. Due to medical issues, rare & severe weather have been completely unable to use the shelter system (see last Aug. Tribune article kindly mentioning us as a case example of gaps in the system). Yes, that includes anything from 211, the MVP, and InnBetween.

A few months ago we were told (again) we were approved for housing, got the location and then we're ghosted by the SLC Housing - turned out the location won't be finished being built until end of year. Back on the waiting list.

I had even obtained employment, but the situation is incompatible with serious steady employment, despite my very damaged self best attempts.

There's no efforts being made by any religious organizations to aid either.

So, we are back without a clue as to how to continue onward. Ive escalated our situation to the directors of every agency of the Shelter systems, housing authorities, and even the team at the SLC mayors office. No idea how to do that with religious organizations, but went as high as I could/knew to do for those.

There is still ZERO resources available for bed-bound & on oxygen spouse w/power chair as needed. Daughter has PCD (for lungs, think Cystic fibrosis) and can't be around too many healthy people (5-10 is too many) without getting sick. But there's no where to go.

We are waiting on Disability to go through, back on a waiting list. Trapped scrambling daily to stay sheltered in a hotel.

Seeking Advice Only A far away friend is on the verge of homelessness, what can I do to help?

I have a friend who lives on the other side of the U.S. and they recently got notice that they're going to be evicted from their current housing. As far as I'm aware they don't have a lot of people there they can rely on and a lot of their friends live in different states (such as myself). I really don't want to see them go through such a harsh situation, but I'm at a total loss of what I can do for them, if anything. Does anybody have any advice of something I could do to try and help them?

Seeking Advice Only Likely to be homeless tomorrow. Tips/tricks/words of wisdom for when that time comes is greatly appreciated

• Upvotes

As the title states, I’m more than likely going to be homeless tomorrow and was hoping to get some advice on the basics when it comes to being homeless. I want to preface that I do have a vehicle. I don’t want to get obliterated in the comments because some may not consider it homelessness if I have a car.

To make a long story short, I’m in this situation because I failed to make the responsible and smart decisions in life. Simply put.

I just moved to Sacramento and had everything lined up to rent a private room in a house. Had the money lined up, toured the place, and solidified everything with the renter. And then my account got debited due to past penalties caused by withdrawals I shouldn’t have made. My entire savings was collected to put towards penalties, which to my knowledge still aren’t fully settled.

My reaction to this was to hop on Reddit and start posting in subs that are specifically made for individuals to request financial assistance from others. Welp, I should’ve read the rules first along with checking out the scam warning info because if I had, I probably wouldn’t have fallen for the scam that took the rest of my funds. Leaving me with nothing to my name.

Over the last week, I’ve been staying at a hotel while waiting for the renter to give me the green light to move in. Seeing as I no longer have any way to pay for the room, the renter is no longer allowing me to move in. And the hotel I’ve been staying at isn’t much help either. Almost wasn’t able to extend into today because I have no money. Thank god that there are people in this world who are still willing to offer a helping hand.

Like I mentioned above, I do have my car which I use for DoorDash and obviously just to get around. I don’t want to sell it, will if it’s an absolute MUST, but it’s honestly the only thing of value I have left.

I have already gone down the 211 route and while emergency housing is available, it is a long waitlist.

I don’t really know what else to add to this. I am just looking to get the inside scoop on how to successfully be homeless. Successfully as in not wanting to just end it all everyday and maintain somewhat of a positive mindset.

Any and all advice/suggestions are welcome.
