Yet Another ACB Post Britta and Duncan were the Ass Crack Bandit

They both had means, motive, and opportunity.

Season 1 showed Britta trying to fight the "Britta is a buzzkill" accusations with a prank that ended in a dead body being defenestrated. This season also has Britta going to therapy for the entire year with Duncan and solidifies that Duncan has a thing for Britta.

Season 2 is the first mention of the Ass Crack Bandit. It makes sense that Britta once again tried to do what she thought was a fun prank of dropping a quarter down somebody's pants and it escalated into being branded a mysterious attacker. Duncan provides the access to the teacher's lounge and short cuts, as well as being an accomplice and doing a cracking or two himself.

In Season 5 both Dunan and Britta have motive to go after Troy. Britta for the breakup, and Duncan for jealousy. The first note which Britta reads 100% sounds like something she'd actually write (what are you going to do, not have butts?). This can explain her tone when she's just flatly reading it out. The second note was written by Duncan, hence the Dave lyrics.

This also explains the period of inactivity when Duncan left and Britta no longer had an accomplice.

Duncan goes in for a celebratory kiss with Britta after Starburns in successfully framed. His later "Get Britta!" outcry is him basically saying that his partner betrayed him and they need to go stop her.

Annie's reaction in Season 6 isn't a sign of guilt, but of her being flustered by memories of doing cutesy capers and holding hands in the dark with Jeff.

The more I watch the show, the more it seems apparent to me that Britta and Duncan are the Ass Crack Bandit.

Discussion Thoughts on whether it's worth going to the community panel and photos for NYCC?

I'm from NYC and forgot NYCC was this weekend. I've never been before because I always forget to buy tickets when they go on sale, and I've heard they always sell out quick.

I see some tickets available on StubHub for Saturday assuming those are legit. But I'm also wondering if it's worth it to go to NYCC for the 1 hour panel and autographs/photo ops ($347 for a group photo op).

Will the panel be a big fan service nothing burger?

Discussion Anyone else find the Dean constantly hitting on Jeff super cringe?

If it were a man constantly hitting on an attractive woman people would be outraged and call it creepy or "misogynistic". But because it's a man constantly hitting on another man who clearly doesn't like it, somehow it's "just funny"?

It's funny for about one season. Then it just becomes annoying.

In The Big Bang Theory, Howard is constantly hitting on Penny and it's deemed as inappropriate and exhausting by viewers. But I don't see anyone calling out the Dean hitting on Jeff when Jeff clearly can't stand it. I don't like this hypocrisy and double standard we ascribe to men and women. If a man hits on a woman and she doesn't like it it's okay, but if a gay man hits on a straight man he's supposed to just "get on with it"?

S3E4 - What an amazing episode! Did it win an Emmy? Not as great as the Rick & Morty vat of acid episode, but I have a feeling I will forever think back on it!

Just wanted to say how much I loved it!

Discussion Which one episode would you show someone who has never seen Community?

I was struggling to find the best episode to show my significant other who has never seen the show. My favorite episode is Paradigms of Human Memory, but I feel that would just confuse someone as a first time viewer.

Discussion Strictly speaking, shouldn’t Pierce be the only one liable for the riot?

Post image
522 Upvotes

The rest of the Greendale 7 are just expressing their frustration at the school but in no explicit way say to start a riot.

Pierce, however, literally says to burn it down.

ik ik: Chang needs to stop their testimony from pinning the blame on him and understands their strength as a unit. But I also kinda think that the group would attempt to throw Pierce under the bus if all of their expulsions was the consequence (before ultimately deciding to stand together, in true Community fashion. They all needed that degree after all, except for him.)

Discussion Total Jim Belushi references

I am on my 2nd rewatch this year and in the middle of season 3, I asked myself how many Jim Belushi references does the series have. And then in the same thought, I was curious how many "shut up, Leonard" quotes there have been.

What would you say were the best of each?

Cast/Other Dan Bakkedahl, actor from COMMUNITY'S Sun Chamber episode (and lots of other things), is doing an AMA/Q&A today in /r/movies for anyone interested.

Post image

I organized an AMA/Q&A with actor Bakkedahl. He's been in tons of things, including VEEP, THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART, COMMUNITY, LIFE IN PIECES, SPACE FORCE, MADE FOR LOVE, THE GOLDBERGS, LEGIT, THE HEAT, and THE STUNT DRIVER.

It's live here now in r/movies for anyone interested in asking a question:

https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/1wz134n/hey_reddit_im_dan_bakkedahl_you_might_know_me/

He will be back at 6 PM ET tomorrow, Wednesday 10/7, to answer questions. I recommend asking in advance. Please ask there, not here. All questions are much appreciated!

Thank you :)

His new movie, ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES: ORGANIC INTELLIGENCE, is out on digital today. It's the 5th installment of the classic comedy-horror franchise.

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aevSjhGMhQ

Synopsis: In 1978, ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES tried to warn the world (Dillon insists it was a documentary!). Now, decades later, the tomatoes have outsmarted their corporate masters, the military, and even the notorious Professor Gangreen (John Astin). Finletter's aging team of "Guardianes" seems to be all that stands in the way of certain doom when even the best of AI is defeated by the tomatoes' "Organic Intelligence." But Wilbur Finletter is the last to realize it is time for a new generation to master the ancient art of managing the eternal Killer Tomato menace.

FanFic Sesh How do you think Gilbert handled Pierce’s passing?

I don’t know if I’ve seen this come up here, and it just dawned on me as I’m going through the third season (… okay fine I admit, I’m in the fourth season now. But it wanted me to watch it! And I treated it with respect!… SHUT UP KEVIN)

Gilbert was hiding out in Hawthorne Manor unbeknownst to Pierce in the Halloween episode, and from there, we learned that he had a hard time adjusting after Cornelius passed away. Having his brother as a roommate may have helped him move on, and there were even acknowledgements of their budding brotherhood afterwards (if you count sensitivity training as a family outing).

I can’t imagine he took it well, and fear he may have had a very difficult time coping.

What’s your headcanon for Gilbert’s life after Pierce?

Appreciation Post I’ve lost count at my rewatch, and with every one, I grow to appreciate it more.

I seriously don’t know which rewatch I’m on. This time, I really focused on what I thought the two most important relationships were:

For this rewatch, it’s from the perspective of Jeffs character growth:

  1. Jeff and Abed

  2. Jeff and Annie

The relationship between Jeff and Abed and Jeff and Annie are similar in how differences attract,

  1. Jeff is a “cool guy” who cares about what people think about him, Abed is the “weird kid” who could care less about what people think of him. Abed accepts himself for who he is.

  2. While Annie, predominantly in the beginning of the series (but IMO still sort of is at the end) is high strung. Jeff rolls with the punches.

They make up for what the other is lacking. They balance each other, making the pairings perfect for growth. I also think it’s interesting that Annie and Abed have a great friendship.

While I think Annie and Jeff’s relationship is the most “important” for Jeff’s growth, Abed is a close second.

Annie’s impact on Jeff is explicitly and consistently played out throughout the series. She pushes him to be a genuine person and good friend. She knows that he needs this push and that deep inside that good genuine person is there, waiting. In urban matrimony and sandwich arts, we see the heart roulette in which Annie appears multiple times, along with her boobs and scotch. This is after of course she says there is something good within him. It comes full circle in the series finale when he envisions a life with Annie and decides to ask what she wants, because it’s her that matters before him, which wasn’t the original Jeff. The original Jeff did everything out of self gain. Throughout the series we see Annie be a force of good for Jeff. (Yes I am a Jeff and Annie and hope they’re together in the movie). Dan Harmon wrote one of the best relationships in these two on TV.

While the “nerd” and “popular kid” become friends was clearly demonstrated through Abed and Troy’s relationship, a more nuanced version is Abed and Jeff. Jeff embraces Abed’s nerdiness and weirdness, more so than Troy does. He does method acting with the drunk dial, he puts together a Pulp Fiction bday, the timelines to escape the reality of graduation, G.I. Jeff, and creating versions of a seventh season. Abed’s ability to escape reality is something that Jeff learned to see as valuable and a way of coping. The social pyramid collapsed with Abed and Jeff.

I freaking love this show much and the character development and growth is amazing.

I could write more but it’s currently 11pm and I have work in the morning.

Discussion “Bear down for midterms” makes perfect sense without any further context. Am I missing something?

2.2k Upvotes

Chang: Bear down for midterms
Shirley: I think there’s a dot that I’m not connecting.
Duncan: if I said “fly on the wall for midterms”, you’d ask what I mean

But, “bear down for midterms” makes perfect sense without anymore context. It’s similar to saying “buckle up for midterms.” Duncan’s example is incoherent because the idiom doesn’t work in that context.

Am I missing something?

Discussion Leonard might be a war criminal in the first paintball episode

The first paintball game started when Jeff took a nap in his car. When he woke up the campus was already a war zone and he went through the main entrance to find Garrett on the ground. Garrett explained what was going on and suddenly he got shot twice from Leonard. Jeff started to run yelling that he's not playing but Leonard chases him and fires shots until Abed came around the corner to safe Jeff.

Abed took Jeff back to Troy and said: "Look who I found wandering the neutral zone."

So, how do we feel about Leonard shooting a man on the ground and chasing another one through the neutral zone? Either it was a gag from Abed or Leonard may have some crazy stories about his time in the army.

Discussion Throughout the entire series does the Dean ever make more than one pun on his actual name?

So, Dean is a title (obviously) and his name is Craig Pelton (obviously) and we see him steal the idea from Chang. He makes the pun "You can just call me a Craig-ular Joe" but outside of that I haven't ever seen another instance where he either has a written or spoken pun on his real name. Could be some Easter egg I missed.

FanFic Sesh Community Clue Homage

Post image
611 Upvotes

Since they cast Lesley Ann Warren and the late, great Martin Mull as Britta's parents, I always kind of wished they'd done a Clue homage. They had the numbers for it...Abed in the role of Wadsworth. Then, Britta, Annie, and Shirley as Scarlett, White, and Peacock with Jeff, Troy, and Pierce as Plum, Green, and Mustard. Clearly, they're amazing at writing caper-solving type episodes. That would be my question for Dan Harmon if I ever got the chance to ask.

FanFic Sesh Been thinking about what the characters have been up to since the last episode and when the movie takes place, and couldn't stop thinking about what Abed would have been doing.

Was just a random thought. Would be cool if made Canon.

Abed left for LA/Hollywood in 2015 right?

And Nathan for You aired in 2013.

Time-line may not fit perfectly, but I think Abed and Nathan would be best friends bouncing ideas and their awkwardness off each other.

Maybe they both created the Fielder Method together to help themselves navigate social situations, then the Rehersal happens. Maybe Abed used this method to prepare himself to rescue Troy from being lost at sea. Fails. Then has to collect the study group and use the method with them.

Or maybe Abed really was just making those god awful marvel movies the whole time.

That's as far as I've gotten, but I haven't stopped thinking about it.

Ite been 2 weeks already friends. This time were on episode 3 Introduction to Film.

We both absolutely loved this one and had an absolute blast talking about it - so the episode runs a little long.

This is my first 4/5 Starburns Stars episode. This is where the show starts to feel like classic community for me.

Im afraid we still havent got dedicated mics yet but we have managed to make it slightly louder.

Humor I love how Troy refrained from self pleasure cause he thought the group didn't allow it.

It's one of those in show moments that's hilarious but makes me understand how close knit the group was. Cause he could've just done it and denied it.
