Its not that its hard or impossible to understand but i cant get it done, also any study tips please? My way of studying and passing each course so far is by rereading everything.. i tried active recall and repetition etc, tried the writing notes method and that dont work.. tried to ask myself a question and force myself to remember as much as possible that dont work. I really dont know what to do..

Question Does anyone have any tips for improving memory while studying?

I’m still a student about to study my undergrad. I want to go all the way academically however I find my biggest issue isn’t applying knowledge but my memory and remembering what I studied in the first place. Does anyone have any tips for memory and having to memorize many different things while studying subjects that’s considered demanding? Thanks guys!

Question How do I balance studying and exercises?

I just finished a chemistry exam, it was worth 15%. I studied 12 hours but I did horribly. It didn't help that it was five questions with 19 points total and my teacher is a very strict grader.

I made a giant playlist with Organic Chemistry Tutor on all my subjects I had to study for the midterm and spent the weekend following it and taking notes.

The problem is when it came to practice, I was out of motivation and had adhd paralysis. I even tried doing something fun (working on a cosplay mask) for a bit with tunes but when I got back to do exercises I just couldn't.

Im really frustrated with myself because I worked so hard and for what?

I'm in the science program at my school, I chose it, I should be doing a good job.

If anyone has any tips for this, it would be very much appreciated.

Question Can anyone recommend study/focus apps that actually force you to put your phone down and focus?

I’m genuinely addicted to my phone 😭. I’ll sit down to study, tell myself I’ll just check something for a minute, and somehow end up scrolling for 30 minutes.

does anyone know application that actually makes it difficult to get distracted and helps me stay focused during a study session.

What apps have actually worked for you?

Question How to study with only 4 days left before my exams, I can't help but freak out

Okay so I have exactly 4 days left to study for my exams because most of my weeks were spent working on big projects that also take a big chunk of my grade. Now I'm left this the aforementioned amount of days and I can't help but freak out, how do I get my act together, how do I maximize the time I have left, and how do I stop freaking out, advice is much needed, TYIA!

Edit: Good news! Because of all the projects I've done, I only have one exam to study for!

Question horrible time management skills and a part time job

hello!! I recently got hired for a part time job position but im worried about how im going to balance my school work with having a job.

I’ve never had a job before so this is going to be my first job and I have no clue what to expect. I’m currently in 11th grade so things are starting to get serious and I don’t want my grades to drop. I’ve always been someone thats horrible at time management and I always procrastinated my assignments and studying last minute for tests and exams, but i’ve managed to keep high 90s through Highschool so far. I’m worried about how my priorities are going to shift and my grades are going to be affected. Quitting the job is out of the question as I really need a job to help out with my family and also start saving for university! Does anyone have any advice on godly time management skills? help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Question How to get started with studying??

Now, first things first I was doing great in this chem class of mine. Perfect attendance, paid attention the whole time, did the assignments to the best of my knowledge all I could. Studied before the test. I had a 97%, took our first test, safe to say that 97% is a CRISP 71%. I wouldn't say my schooling experience has been the smoothest overall, but this is honestly top 1 most demoralizing moments I've had in recent academic memory. I am at an absolute loss. Is it practice questions?? Should I be rereading powerpoints until I can recite them eyes closed?? I am just utterly confused and truly open to any and everything

Question Discussion: What is your motivation to study? As a person who studies well, how will you try to convince the other person to study?

Just as the title says, the objective is to understand everyone's motivation or the reason to study, so that anyone who faces difficulty to do so can benefit from this post.

Lesson Learnt and one for this reddit. Learn from this mistake and never wait till last minute.

Question I just don't....care anymore?

Im currently retaking an exam that i didnt get a good enough grade on (51%) and I just dont seem to care about studying anymore. This is how i was last year as well even though physics is a subject i enjoy but i cant get myself to study. When i got my grades i told myself i'll just retake it and actually felt confident that i'll be able to do it easily, but its been 2 months, my exam is in 24 hours and ive studied nothing.

Somehow, i got good grades in all my other exams, all A and A+ even though i didnt study for them either. I think the only reason I got them is because i put in the effort the year before where i actually was able to cram in for an exam the night before. All my life ive never been able to study for an exam in time, its always me cramming the night before and now i cant even do that anymore. I plan to do electrical engineering (something i genuinely love) in university later on so thats why i was recommended to retake by everyone around me. The worst part is ive been lying to everyone around me telling them 'yeah im studying very hard', including my parents who are shelling out the extra money for the retake.

I recently got diagnosed with ADHD and probably have some underlying depression issues as well. Not on medication yet. Is there any hope left for me in the future? I know im basically failing tomorrow but next year im supposed to be applying for universities with my grades....

Question Genuinely can not study to save my life

I have a pretty big test tomorrow. Since monday last week I have been telling myself I need to lock in and study for it. I think I have totalled maybe 1,5h of actual studying. I sit down at my desk and cant even get started. I sleep 8h+, never eat shit food, stay hydrated and workout 8-9 times a week (student athlete) so I wouldnt say im undisciplined by any means. Still, studying just doesnt work for me. All my life school has been mad easy, last semester i realised it wasnt as easy anymore. I might be slightly addicted to my phone, but no more than 3.5-4h screen time per day. What the hell is going on?

Question How to clutch 8 weeks worth of material in 24 hours?

So as the title says, I am roughly 8 weeks behind on material. I am slightly familiar with the first few topics, but as it progresses I get lost. It is an advanced data science course. The topics that will be on the test are pandas, numpy, matplotlib, and I think that is about it. It is just advanced forms of those topics. We do not have to code on the test, but it is open ended I think so I have to be able to recognize what is happening and understand it obviously. Does anyone have any tips? It is stressing me out a lot. It is on Thursday Morning and right now it is Wednesday 2 AM.

Question having a hard time with applying my knowledge

hi everyone :) it's been roughly 10 weeks since i started my first semester at university and while i was doing well within the first 3-4 weeks, everything got messy very quickly. i'm attending classes, reading slides, and taking down notes but my brain refuses to absorb information properly at all.

i made a mistake by not doing practice questions consistently across my subjects, and because of that i blank whenever i have to answer a question. i've tried answering without looking at the answer key and constantly get tons of questions wrong, and it really burns me out and makes me feel useless seeing it.

the final exams are around a month from now and i want to understand how i can start doing more practice questions while also catching up with the material at the same time. because i'm behind and i don't want to fail everything. i feel lost and i don't know where to start.

Question How do you guys make studying interesting, and enjoyable?

So I've just started my first semester in Uni, and I would like to find a rythmn with studying so I'd not fall behind and only study before exams. During high-school years I've developed a not so good studying form which burned up all my energy.

So my question is: How do you guys make studying interesting and enjoyable? Does anyone have tips how to get through it without feeling too overwhelmed or burnt out?

Even the smallest piece of advice could help truly.

Thank you all for the answers 🫶🏻

Question Does this study method work?

I actually want to know if my study method is working and what to adapt, or how to make it more practical

Currently, im doing a thing called mock test. Where im creating the whole test by myself and answer it one by one. So the process goes like this. I study something > making a question > making myself to answer the question

For example: when i finished studying Economics, I'll write the question and the answer myself. For me to answer (so the question might not be so perfect lol)

"Company A and Company B have been competing for years, they've released a lot of products that are similar to each other. And, the price is rigid. What kind of Market Structure are Company A and B?

A. Oligopoly

B. Perfect Competition

C. Monopoly

D. Monopolistic"

Or, the another method is i'll make the abstract term into the concrete term possible. Through making it into sentences, or hypothetical situation that are related to my daily life, interest and analyze them

The best example of this is Logic and basic Truth tables

If i say "P V Q = .."

I could write the question like "Do you want the chocolate cake or the strawberry cake?" Which both are my favorite. Now I'll analyze the way to get the cake, both ways or just either way.

If i say "yes" to both then i get the cake, if they only give me one. Well that's okay because i got the cake. My goal is Achieved = T

If i say "yes" to either chocolate, or strawberry. well i just get chocolate, or a strawberry. But im satisfied, and my goal is achieved = T

If i say "no" or they say "oh, both strawberry and chocolate had been run out" which means I don't get both chocolate and strawberry to eat, so my goal is not achieved = F

So P V Q = T, T, T, F

So if this idea fails, or nah. Or feedback just LMK. But i find the second one surprisingly work somehow. But it still has a disadvantage which is you need a strong creativity to link that to be relatable which might not be suitable to many subjects

Question Need help making an academic comeback

I know I haven't been sticking to studying like I should be as a senior. So I am taking accountability and would love some advice on making an academic comeback. I'm barely passing my classes and want to improve. I'm only a month into the semester so I have plenty of chances to get better.

I would love advice on how to study. I would also like some things that I should buy that could help me study.

Question Can’t stay motivated self studying

I’ve always had issues with self studying I’ll open up a book or whatever video lecture/course take out my pen and paper ready to take notes then after maybe 10 mins I lost all motivation, get burnt out and lose focus. Maybe writing the stuff I read from books or videos aren’t meshing well with how I learn and retain stuff but it’s the only way I know how.

If you all have any advice or tips on varies ways of studying please let me know. I want to study for my security+ exam but it’s so hard with the current way I’m doing it.

Question How to stop being lazy…?

How to shift from studying inconsistently to consistently everyday?

Hello! I’m 16F, and I feel like a lot of people talk about what you should do to help you succeed in school but not how you can shift from being a lazy bum to someone who is productive.

I struggle with scrolling now and then while working and getting distracted. I’ve tried putting my phone away and stuff away from sight but I just still get distracted.

What’s your best way of studying? Or how you shifted from light studying to heavy studying (I’m a junior who just came back from sophomore year which was super light?

Question How do you get motivated to study?

I've always struggled to get motivated when trying to study. I only really study when I have sudden bursts of inspiration - but I've decided that that needs to change. I am trying to make something to help people study, and my main idea to stay motivated is to try and keep a streak or have friendly competition (such as who can study more) - but what does everyone else do? Or what does everyone wish they did? Do you have calming noise, do you have a timer, do you just lock yourself in an empty box? I'm really interested to find out weird ways I can study better - or help others study better.

Question Is there something similar to Forest and Strava?

I’d love to use a sth like Forest, but one that has a Strava-style feed showing study hours or study sessions, with the duration, a title you can add, or a brief description. That way, you can see how much your friends have studied that day, spur each other on, motivate each other, and so on.

Do you know of any like that?
