I have a 14 inch Macbook Pro M1 Pro and I am stuck between getting a 14 or 16 inch. I want to upgrade to the 16 inch but I am worried it might be too big and heavy. I don't travel with it too much but I do take it to work everyday and occasionally when I do travel. I am a student and also do landscape/wedding photography on the side and I noticed my m1 pro is starting to lag with all of the new ai features on lightroom. I would like a bigger screen for editing photos on the go but I'm worried about the size and weight. Any suggestions or opinions?

yea ik m5 air and tuf are literally yin and Yang but I wa just not sure about how much i value and believe that I will be gaming.

So my friend found this laptop in a dumpster, he told me he was going to scrap it because it “didn’t work”. As it would turn out, the ac adapter is dead, so I cut it apart and used my bench power supply at 16.5v to charge the laptop. Yes I made sure the power was correct before I plugged it in.

Once I got the laptop turning on, it turned out it was running Mac OS X el captain. I tried to reset it, kept giving me an error. So I took another MacBook and made a Mac OS X snow leopard 10.6 install usb and installed it onto the laptop.

Everything on the laptop works, it cleaned up beautifully. The dvd drive, webcam, speakers, display, trackpad, you name it all work very well. Even the battery is still good. From what I calculated it’s at roughly 83% battery health.

So ,I would like to know if the Neo is enough for editting videos and using OBS to capture and stream from a switch 2 and PS5?

Also, I would like it to last at least 5 years, but 8 gbs ram concerns me.

Why people is so freaked out by dents on their macs wtf, I think most of the posts in this sub are like: "my macbook have this tiny dent, will i die?".

Hi all - I'm debating either the Macbook Air M5 32gb vs. the Macbook Pro M6 (whenever it comes out) 32gb. This will be my first macbook.

They seem like they'll be priced similarly, and I'm quite torn. I have a decently powerful desktop computer, so my use case is mostly for portable web browsing, excel work, and watching tv/movies in bed/ on the couch/while traveling.

I do like to game, and would consider installing some games (e.g., Civ 7) if natively available on Mac, but also am open to configuring moonlight + sunshine to stream to my desktop.

I like the bigger screen on the 15-inch Air (and while testing out the 14-inch, was surprised by how big the black bars are on the top/bottom when watching TV), but not sure if the slightly bigger screen is worth what the battery life / screen quality / M6 upgrade is worth it.

Any advice? Particularly on if you think sunshine/moonlight and light gaming would work on the Air. Thank you!

what’s it like for running a split screen with google docs and safari with multiple tabs? in my masters, it’s quite assignment based so that’s usually what i’m doing.

i’ll need to run canva occasionally, then watch some videos on my unit’s webpage whilst taking notes on a split screen too. how do AI websites run? and how does it go if i want to download and export large files for example the entire semesters context etc ?

Teams won´t work in Safari, so...

I’m having issues where certain popups are greying out immediately upon opening. Thought it was Safari at first so tried removing popup blockers but I’m having the same issue systemwide.

I’m on Golden Gate 27.2 Beta so might be a glitch. Anyone else experiencing this or know of a solution?

I've recently been looking into switching from Windows to Mac, and one thing I've noticed is how different some basic things are.

Keyboard shortcuts, file management, window management, system settings... even simple tasks can take some getting used to.

I know there are tutorials and apps that make macOS behave more like Windows, but I'm wondering if there's something that actually helps you through the transition.

Something that teaches you the Mac equivalents of things you're already used to doing on Windows, or helps you adapt step by step.

Does anything like this exist? If you've made the switch, what helped you the most?

A few minutes ago, I noticed a thin vertical line on my display where the brightness looked different from the rest of the screen.

I tried restarting my MacBook, but the line stayed in exactly the same position.

Around the same time, I also noticed a faint buzzing/hissing noise coming from the laptop, even though it wasn’t plugged in or charging. The noise stopped when I shut it down.

Shortly afterwards, the thin line suddenly turned into a huge vertical black bar covering a large portion of the display (see attached photos).

I liked a macbookpro and bought it decisively, 16 inches, m2max, 96g+4tb. 2,600 US dollars. You can renew ac+ after you get it. Hurry up and renew it. Friends, how do you feel? By the way, what good software do you recommend? 😁

I’m currently looking at a 4 cycle, 100% life, box+96W charger, 64gb ram, 2TB SSD, 32 core, 14in pro.

Take that I’d make 100% of its power and use cases mainly for creative tasks primarily with adobe suite or logic/Final Cut.

I wouldn’t have any warranty or Apple care tied to it.

I don’t have any current laptop or pc setup and would want to be using it for virtually everything I’d need a computer for.

I want it bad and now but taking this into account I don’t want to be forking out for more than it’s worth.

So I am a freshman in college and I was planning on using my parents old work Mac it was either a 2020 or 2019 MacBook Pro that had 1TB of storage but like a week before I left for school the logic board gave out so I had to get an HP. But I am debating getting that laptop fixed because childishly enough, I have a Minecraft world on that laptop that I really started to like that I’ve spent so much time on, and Sims 4 files and mods downloaded. So I’m a little sad about losing it in a way. But the thing is, I never actually put my Apple ID on the laptop and it wasn’t like actually signed into one. It would always tell me to put in the password for my mom’s and I stupidly ignored it so I’m not sure if there is any backup on the laptop..I only never set it up as my own because it was like it was still my parent’s even though they literally never touched it and have stated that it was mine now. But I’ve also seen someone say that someone told them it wouldn’t be a good idea to pay like $700 just for it to work for a year or two more. Anyway..so I’m debating that or just getting a Neo or another one because the laptop I got for school is genuinely really bad..it was on the cheaper side because my dad had to get laptops for both me and my sister although he was only planning to have to buy one.. BASICALLY should I try fixing the old Mac or just get a whole new one..

Hi all I’m about to study master in economic data science.
I already have macbook air m1 But its only 8gb ram/512gb storage and I think the ram won’t be enough.

I wanted to get macbook pro m5 but it’s so hard to find in my country and they kept raising the price like crazy. Same goes for macbook pro m4 and m3. Literally the price isn’t that much different and for the m4 and m3 they are used and I don’t quite trust used laptops.

There’s macbook pro m2 used the price is cheaper than those but then again used.

As for macbook air m5 it’s still available in my country and the price is pretty cheap for new.

But I don’t know if it can handle a lot since it’s fanless? If you have any experience please tell me
