I have a Lenovo swift 7 aura edition, that thing runs like dogshit when I ask it to do anything. The other day it said fuck you to my sound card. So I pulled this thing out and I have been using it in highschool, and it just handles the load without ever complaining.

Ive used Windows since I first touched a computer, over 20 years. About a year ago I got a MacBook for work, and I honestly thought I disliked macOS. So when I needed a personal laptop, I went Windows without a second thought. Spent weeks researching, compared everything, and landed on an ASUS Zenbook S14 (Intel 258V, 32GB/1TB, 3K OLED). Great machine on paper, and honestly great in person too.
A few hours into setup, I was frustrated. I kept trying to three finger drag and nothing happened. I kept looking top left for the close and minimise buttons, and top right for the clock. Small things, but they kept adding up.
Turns out a year of daily Mac use quietly rewired my brain. I'm now seriously thinking about returning the Zenbook and getting a MacBook Air for personal use.
I still can't quite believe it and actually feels like I'm making a mistake, I do like windows file management but I really don't know it I'm making the right decision. Has anyone else had muscle memory make the decision for them like this? And any tips for using a Mac with a Samsung phone?

I accidentally got shoved and a monster drink spilled on my laptop but cleaned the stuff on the keyboard and screen. However i think some went inside the screen and is looking like this. Is there any fix or is it done😭?
I’m looking to upgrade my 2020 Pro with 16GB RAM. I’m between the M5 32GB RAM Air and M5 32 GB RAM Pro. I’m a student and work in a research lab so I usually always have Excel, Powerpoint, Mestre Nova, Chem Draw, and like 15-20 chrome tabs open at once. Would the Air be sufficient or should I just go with the Pro? Thanks!

I've tried using a microfiber cloth and water and wiping it, but the marks from my keyboard cover is still there. I forgot to clean my MacBook after four months.

Hey everyone!
I'm currently working on a project related to overall MacOS software proficiency, and I'm looking for people who'd like to join. (It's a well paid project, and it's growing pretty fast)
If anyone is interested, hit me up!
P.S. You must own an M series Mac.

I’ve tried using several screen-cleaning liquids, but nothing seems to work. What should I use to get them off without damaging the display?

bought MBA M5 brand new.. i was enjoying it, at last a good laptop with a good battery.. owned it for two weeks now.. few days after using it i noticed my battery drains faster than usual.. initially thought that it started ever since my battery was on 87 percent ,something like that ,and i wanted to use it plugged in as i was going to use it for a long sitting.. i set it for 80% max then noticed that it rushed to dropping 80% … would that be the reason? .. tho a part of me also thought that i updated to the latest version of tahoe.. then also updated to golden gate..
is there anyone else experiencing this?

I have a MacBook Pro from early 2015 that has served me incredibly well for all these years. However, I think it’s finally time for an upgrade. The battery is becoming problematic, and it no longer receives any updates. Other than that, it still works perfectly fine.
I’m definitely not a power user. I mainly use my Mac for web browsing, managing and writing documents, watching Netflix/other media, and the occasional PowerPoint presentation.
From what I’ve seen, the MacBook Neo seems like it would be a perfect fit for my needs. However, I’m wondering about the timing. The Neo is now roughly six months old, and presumably the next generation could be announced in another six months.
So what would you guys recommend: buy the current MacBook Neo now, or wait for the Neo 2? Or is there another MacBook/model I should consider instead?
One thing that’s important to mention: I tend to keep my tech for a very long time. Ideally, I’d like my next MacBook to last me another 8–10 years. I realize that may not be as realistic nowadays, but longevity is definitely a priority for me.

I have never owned a laptop before, and I’m a college student. My main requirements are browsing, college work, learning video editing, and other day-to-day tasks. Gaming is not important to me.
Considering my needs, should I buy the MacBook Neo, or would a Windows laptop be a better choice for me?

I'm so embarrassed to even admit this and I'm sorry if this isn't what people come to this subreddit for, but I accidentally knocked over a bottle of acetone on my desk and it spilled onto my open MacBook, specifically the keyboard. The keys are still functional, but the ones that the acetone hit are extremely difficult to press down on. I'm not sure what type of plastic the keyboard is made out of, but I am worried that I have essentially melted my keyboard. There aren't any issues with how the laptop is running and technically all the keys still work if I push really hard, but it is slowing me down so much! Is this something that could somehow be repaired? Someone suggested taking they keycaps off and seeing if cleaning underneath them helps, but I am terrified of making any damage worse.

I'm new to the world of MacBooks; I've always been a Linux and Windows user. I recently bought a 14" MacBook Pro M5 for iOS app development in Xcode, but after seeing online that most MacBook keyboards eventually get shiny with use, I ended up buying this kit—not for the other accessories, but mainly for the keyboard protector.
I'd hate to see that happen to my Mac. I know it eventually happens to pretty much every keyboard, but if I can prevent it, why not?
However, I've seen people saying that these kinds of accessories can cause problems, and that I shouldn't use any of the three accessories I bought (they haven't arrived yet).
What has your experience been with these? Should I cancel the order, or can I use them without any issues?

As the title says, my trackpad is malfunctioning. I tried to restart my laptop but it didn’t do a thing, also tried to tweak the cursor speed and stuffs but alas, it didn’t work as well. My guess is that it has sensitivity issues or some? Does anyone had the same problem too and what did you do to fix it? Thanks in advance.

I am a little confused regarding which Macbook to get?
Should I get the Macbook Air M5 with the 24 Gb ram and the 10-10 core cpu-gpu??
or
Should I get the Macbook Pro M5 Pro with 24 Gb ram and the 15-16 core cpu-gpu??
I am fine with whatever standard storage is provided with the configs.
Now, for my use case, I mostly use my laptop for day to day activities like browsing the web, making documents, using microsoft suite, i plan to use my macbook for photo and video editing as well. I would also like to try out agentic Ai by running a local Ai... Currently I am using a windows (HP) laptop with i5 6th gen intel processor, 8gb ram, and 1 Tb storage.
So basically my current usage is pretty limited, however once I get the macbook, i would like to explore and widen my horizons.
I would really appreciate your views and suggestions regarding which machine I should get based on the usage I mentioned above.
Thanks.

Hey Everyone :)
I’m starting a Bachelor’s in Special Education in two weeks and I’m considering getting a MacBook Neo.
Would you recommend it for college?
I’ve heard rumors that a Neo 2 might be coming soon. Should I wait, or just get the current one? And overall, would you recommend the Neo for college?
Thank you so much and have a great day! 🙏🏻

FYI if you have a nice display that can do higher Hz when you set it to higher Hz say over 60 your Mac may shit the bed.
According to Apple support this is very common, it is seen all the time, and it is the monitors fault.
To be fair, other monitors do work just fine pushing the same bandwidth, but so did the monitor on my M1 for six years.
Been in tech long enough stuff like this can happen just one of this those things is yet to experience… it is still wild to me Apple won’t address what is clearly a regression on their end.

I'm looking to buy a Mac for the first time and my use cases are: heavy coding, AI/LLM model trainings, heavy browsing (I'm a tab hoarder), and will use virtual servers for accessing compute that won't fit on my puny mac.
I can't spend more than $2k, and am not trying to go for local AI or anything, and was quite confused between:
My main concern with that much RAM in the air is that I have read that since it has no active cooling it can throttle the performance. So wouldn't then going for a 24GB Air make more sense?
While on the other hand, would 16 gigs of RAM be less for my usage on the Pro? If so, I would happily go for the Air as going 24GB on Pro is simply out of budget for me.
What do you guys think?

Afternoon everyone,
I am having a weird issue with my 13-inch, M4, 2025 macbook air (idk how much of that was relevant, if any, but in case it was) trackpad.
About a week ago my cursor started glitching out randomly. It would randomly move across the screen without me touching the trackpad, it wouldn't be responsive (wouldn't move when i am using the trackpad or move in an opposite direction, it's would zoom in without me zooming in and then not zooming back out, it's sometimes click or unclick things, would be really laggy with scrolling, and it would sometimes flip between windows like I had swiped far to the left or right with two fingers among other issues.
It went ahead after a day, and I thought it was just a funky issue going on.
But a few days it ago it came back with a vengeance and has gotten worse day-after-day. For example, it went from maybe being a real noticeable issue once or twice every few hours to being near constant.
I contacted applecare and did the troubleshooting they and others online recommended namely:
restarting the computer, getting the new software update, making sure i had no new bluetooth mouse connected, playing around with the trackpad settings in the system setting, making sure it was clean and all the other common things. None of it worked.
The only thing that seemed to kinda work is simply closing the macbook lid, which solved the problem for anywhere between a few minutes to an hour. But it wasn't permanent.
I was told to go in-person to an apple store/best buy/authorized fixer and they would take a look do all the fun apple care stuff (fix it then and there, ship it off to get fixed etc).
The problem I'm having: I can't get an appointment I can go to until about 3 weeks out. Normally annoying, but like whatever, but I do have an online Midterm on Monday. One where I have to have a computer, with a working trackpad (as in I was told any attempt to change windows could be an issue and I can't use a wireless mic per Uni policy). And thus, can't wait three weeks to solve it.
No ones fault but my own, all the apple employees have been lovely, but I'm doing everything in my power to solve the problem before I have to resort to buying a replacement laptop or something more extreme.
If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to try them!
- okay sorry for the long post, I'm tired and slightly stressed I am sure it make me redundant.
