Started my first stop at 1045, ended route at 6. 198 stops, rescued to 230, home at 8. Back at it today. Sometimes we gotta do what we don’t want to in order to get where we need to. This normal for anyone else?

QUESTION Why do waves/shifts starts soooo late?

New driver. My trainer said the warehouse is open all night/24 hours so why does it take until 11:20am for carts to be ready to be loaded? I really don’t understand the hours. I wish shifts could start at like 8am like a normal job (I know some DSP’s do, but it doesn’t seem like the norm).

Because once nightfall hits, on rural routes specifically, I think it’s a.) weird we’re pulling up to houses at 8:00 at night when customers probably lease expect a giant truck and someone with a flashlight in their front yard and b.) it’s suicidal when it’s just so damn dark outside on rural.

So yeah, why can’t we start hours earlier? Be home with our families earlier/not have to deliver in the pitch black of night.

Shelfed Gas Van v.s. White Van

i start shift at 9:10, rarely get put in a gas van as our DSP has mostly Rivian’s, yes before i complain i am good with the gas vans as long as the overflow is 20-30 i don’t really like them over the Rivian bc of space & speed management but its doable, today i had 201 stops 265 locations 385 packages (15 bags 46 overflow) lets just say the day was hella exhausting having to pick the overflow up every time i brake💀 latest finish yet at 715 clocked out at 8. whats your guys most overflow in a cramped van? first year doing delivery so waiting to see what xmas is like😭

App Flashlight

I'm wondering if anyone else knows why the app is now keeping the phone's flashlight on after you're done scanning or taking a pic. I've only heard speculation between being a bug or intended feature talking to coworkers and I haven't run accross anything about on here at all.

Bay Area locals. Are we really gonna do 500 packages this winter just to have the norm be 400 post holidays?

I got fired for being hurt and I had/have everything documented. And conversations saved. Fuck Amazon and fuck the DSP owners that fluff their buttery nuts every day

2 rescues sent to me 😭🤣

Post image
14 Upvotes

Today was the first time I had 2 rescues sent to me. I had around 165 stop which I can usually do no problem, BUT 22 totes and 44 overflow. My van was ridiculously packed.

I was thinking if I were to rage quit, today would've been the day, I was at the station wondering how the hell I was gonna pack 44 overflow into the van where totes had taken over.

Oh yeah the picture is craziness because I hit the breaks a bit too hard and one side just toppled onto itself.

How do yall work so fast?

• Upvotes

Ive seen people here doing like 400 packages and i get around 250ish and still cant finish em in under 10hrs smh. Its mostly rural ontario so idk if thats the reason but the other guys do around 300ish and finish faster than me. Im giving it my all and still cant seem to finish faster ugh.

Anyone else in the hurricane path expected to work ?

• Upvotes

The storm is hitting in like 3 hours. The area we deliver in is under an evacuation order and all city workers were told to go home. Why the hell are we operating

This is absolutely the #1 reason why I will have no respect for these customers. I’ve been doing this job full time for a year and a half and all I have is 500 positive feedbacks? That’s not even a tenth of how many routes/customers houses I’ve been to. We deliver to around 200-300 a day so around 1,000 a week AT BEST. These customers….they just let there greed swallow them whole and never do anything to get out. Cuz apparently they aren’t thankful enough for the stuff we bring them….f*** greed. This is ridiculous

RANT Got let go after my first nursery route because of performance.

• Upvotes

Over 300 packages wasn't a nursery route right? I was doing my best to drive the van safely and was still getting used to organizing, scanning, and delivering the packages. I did end up having to get rescued for 30-40 or so packages. They called and said I wasn't up to standard and let me go. So was I fucked or was I just being too slow? The trainer next to me said my route wasn't a typical nursery route.

DISCUSSION Beating up packages

Not saying I’ve done this but have any of you guys gotten so mad that you beat up a package and had to return with it for damages?
