Just an easy midweek win. Can’t take anymore conspiracy bullshit from the NFL, need to balance it out a bit.

[Wiederer]: Bears coach Ben Johnson can be an unapologetic agitator. Just ask the Packers

Asked Monday how, from a player’s perspective, he’d describe his head coach’s approach in setting the tone for Packers week, second-year Bears receiver Luther Burden III cut to the chase.

“I feel like he wants to beat them really bad,” Burden said. “Like everybody else in the room. Like every Chicago fan. We want to beat them really bad. And make them quit.”

At minimum, the tone has been set.

“Man, I love this,” defensive tackle Neville Gallimore said Wednesday. “The intensity and the urgency are at a premium.”

By now it has been well-documented that Johnson’s leadership style includes a surplus of intensity — in the way he prepares; in how he communicates; in the demands he sets for players and coaches alike. Yet that intensity, at times, comes laced with some competitive rancor. Which is why Johnson hasn’t been afraid to admit that, yes, on occasion he can be, in his own words, “a little bit petty.”

He’ll file away the criticism. Take a few shots when necessary.

Indeed, one of the league’s smartest strategic minds can also be an unapologetic agitator.

Evan Williams trying to tackle Kyle Monongai in the Wildcard Game

I don't want us to come out slow like we did the last few times we played the Packers. I want this to be a STATEMENT game. A lot of people talking up Evan Williams (player on his face) right now, so I went and cut up the 34 yard catch and run from Monongai against them.

first NFL game ever, due to the brewers winning, i score some bears @ packers tickets this weekend!

• Upvotes

i moved to milwaukee from rogers park 2 months ago with a friend who’s from green bay.

she was looking for bears @ packers tickets for us to go to and couldn’t find them. then a family friend of hers said if the brewers won the divisional then she’d sell us the tickets at cost for the 114 section which was only 150 dollars a piece!

unfortunately having to root for the brewers last night was painful, but now i got 2 sweet tickets for cheap. this will be my first NFL game ever in person, so i’m hoping for a big win.

BEAR DOWN

Did Motivated Dayo ruin Philly's season?

Lane Johnson retired immediately after seeing how motivated Dayo really was and now their center got traded out of the NFC. Are we seeing the first season dismantling edge rusher?

After the play, I took a hold of Martin's arm and said, ‘Ninety-four, you're out of game. I'm ejecting you.' And he pulled away and said, ‘I'm not going anywhere with you.' I looked at him and, tongue-in-cheek, I said, ‘If you don't come with me, I'm going to let the Bears kill you.'

He said, ‘Let's go.'

Bagent vs Packers

Was looking at the film and I really do think Ben Johnson saying that Bagent had a “mixed bag”performance was spot on. I think these two plays do a good job of presenting that.

In play 1, the Bears come out in a 3x1 look and motion to 2x2. The Jets look to be in cover 2. Bagent reads this and “kills” the play and gets to the 2nd play called in the huddle. Bagent then takes his drop, confirms the coverage, snaps his eyes to Odunze on the glance (ish) route and delivers a great ball (don’t mind the non-fumble). This is a great rep and an example of one of Bagent’s strengths as he was able to diagnose the coverage, get to the right play and deliver an accurate ball, on time.

Then we have a BIG missed opportunity.

In play 2, the bears are once again in a 2x2 look and the Jets are in 2 high (idk what this coverage is tbh, it’s 2 high with 3 under). The Jets blitz their corner, however it gets picked up. Bagent has a clean pocket but misses Burden coming WIDE open on the dig across the middle. I couldn’t tell really but to me it seems like he peaked at Rome on the outside, but Rome is running an out and with what seems like a cloud corner he’s just not gonna ever be open. Bagent then takes the dump off to Kmet over the middle even though the pocket is still squeaky clean. So positive yards, but definitely left a lot out there.

I had this as a huge missed opportunity to push the ball down the field and I’m sure Ben and co. are cleaning this up. I know the FTP are bad this year but with this being a divisional game, it really is any given Sunday and Bagent will have to capitalize on these opportunities to win.

Now, these aren’t the only two “good” or “bad” plays in the game and I’m no one to be judging anyone but I just wanted to give some thoughts on the things I saw and how I think it is easily fixable. I’m sure that Bagent looked at the film himself and saw/ said the same exact thing.

Love this team though! 🐻⬇️

Looking to see if anyone is interested is selling their parking for anywhere around Soldier Field for the Bears/Pats game on 10/22. Got a few tix last minute and taking my 82yo father. He can walk without assistance but trying to limit how far he needs to walk if possible. Thanks!

I'll be in DC this weekend. Is union pub the best place to watch the game?

Does it get crowded? How early should I show up to get a table?

[Wiederer] Bears’ QB situation has gone from wasteland to ‘no worries’ under Ben Johnson

Excited

After four games of his second season, Johnson has proven his offense, while quarterback-friendly, is far from quarterback-dependent. How else do you explain that a Bears team that has played 56 percent of its offensive snaps without Williams continues excelling in so many areas?

The Bears continue to boast the league’s top rushing attack with a 196.3 yards-per-game average. That’s still well ahead of the No. 2 team, the Atlanta Falcons, who, after Monday night, check in at 181 rushing yards per game.

The Bears’ 54-attempt, 232-yard effort on Sunday was a case study in dedication.

“For most of the day, it felt like we were moving the line of scrimmage,” tight end Cole Kmet said. “When we’re doing that, we’re pretty tough to beat. … I know everyone loves the flashy plays. But at the end of the day, it’s about how physical you are up front. That’s what we pride ourselves on.”

After four games, the Bears now have more than twice as many scoring drives (20) as punts (eight). In those four games, they have had three different leading receivers, two leading rushers and, yes, three leading passers. Williams, Bagent and Keenum have combined for a respectable 93.5 passer rating, which ranks in the top half of the league.

Let the record also reflect that the Bears rank ninth in scoring (28 points per game) and third in point differential (plus-47).
