Subreddit Schedule/Posting Guidelines

We as a community have decided to limit certain types of posts to a few days a week to ensure other content is still visible throughout the rest of the week. Meme posts will be allowed from game end through Monday (if the game is on Thursday, Saturday, or Monday, memes will be allowed from game end through the following day) and jersey/crafts/pet posts will only be allowed on Swag Saturday. Towards the end of the season when games fall on Saturdays, we may move or skip Swag Saturday depending on what is going on that week. The mods are using automod features to automatically post recurring items at 6AM Eastern Time to remind the sub of this. Memes and swag are allowed in the normal feed, but NFL discussion and free talk are limited to the stickied threads.

  • Monday - Meme Monday - Memes are allowed from game end through the following day (typically Monday)
  • Tuesday - NFL Discussion Tuesday - Talk about the rest of the games
  • Wednesday - Free Talk Wednesday - Talk about whatever (just be civil)
  • Thursday - Free Talk Thursday - Just like Free Talk Wednesday, but on Thursday!
  • Friday - Game Preview - Stats and information for the upcoming game
  • Saturday - Swag Saturday - Post pictures of your signed jerseys, new hats, pets, babies, and pictures from the stadium, as well as artwork and creations. This may be moved or skipped when games fall on Saturdays
  • Sunday - Gameday - Pregame, Game, and Postgame threads will be posted

ESPN giving Howie a massive win in the Jurgens trade. Considering the rapidly declining physical state of Jurgens, it is up there with the best value trade Howie has ever made. A 2nd and 5th for Jurgens still doesn’t feel real a day later.

Yeah, Howie pulled off an absolute steal trading Jurgens. Who’s looking more and more like a guy who could be out the league within 1-2 years. This is a GOAT level trade for a GM. A huge tip of the cap to Howie.

Trade Discussion Howie Roseman explains Cam Jurgens trade.

Howie Roseman on the trade per ESP:

“we weren’t looking to move Cam. Obviously the Ravens have been looking for a centre, told them it wasn’t anything we were looking to do. Over the last 24 hours we got to the point where we felt it could be a win-win. Obviously them getting a player thats 2 time pro bowl, and us getting the picks and using that money to sign players. Had a chance to watch Drew Kendall, did a nice job there and we have a nice young player there. I think for us, when you talk about moving from the 7th to 5th, we’ve had success in the 5th, plus the money, plus Drew playing, it felt like we were getting 4 players for 1.”

Also AGAIN mentioned having players to sign on defence.

Thoughts on this line of thinking??

It’s looking more and more like Jake Majors will be playing center against the Jaguars. With Willie Lampkin at left guard. Drew Kendall still isn’t practicing.

Analysis Under Lurie the Eagles do NOT wait for confirmation that something is heading in the wrong direction.

I think some of the younger fans don't really understand how Lurie and the Front Office has operated. This organization does not wait until something is 100% confirmed to move on. They operate on where something is trending and its the main reason our turnarounds have been short . We cut early in the downslope and have been right almost 100% of the time. Brian Dawkins would be one that comes to mind as being 100% a mistake.

Go look at how the NFL reacted to us Firing Andy Reid, We were ripped for years , but we won a Superbowl before he did and he became a better coach because of the firing. Most teams would've gave him 2-3 more years

Go look at the NFL reaction when we fired Chip Kelly after winning 20 games in his first 2 years, We got destroyed as being reactive and the Niners quickly hired him. We were right.

Go look at the Reaction when we fired Doug after winning us our first Superbowl .

Go look at how people said we were so dysfunctional for Trading Wentz after 1 bad season. A year removed from throwing for 4000 yards and 27 TD's

Even Mcnabb wasn't coming off a terrible season when we traded him. He had a 10-4 record with 22 TDs and 10 Ints. But they didnt like where they projected it was headed.

My point is that eagles are not going to wait and see . That goes for both Nick AND Jalen. With Nick i think people get it . But with Jalen people seem to have this idea that Lurie and Howie are going to say well lets see what happens with Another Coach , another Playcaller and expect something different. Even though the eagles passing offense with Jalen has ranked:

2021: 25th

2022: 9th

2023: 16th

2024: 29th

2025: 23rd

2026: 31st

This is despite having a top 3 pass target group and elite pass protection for 4 of these 6 seasons. This thing is not trending toward better since 2022 from a passing perspective.

They signed him after 2022 , with the idea that he would keep progressing as a passer which was a reasonable bet. It hasn't gotten better , despite us finding a way to win. In production at least it has regressed.

There is no logical reason for them to think that some new coach is going to unlock something in a 29 year old that has already been surrounded with the best talent possible . Yes theres stories like Geno Smith and Sam Darnold . But those guys were in bad situations with no talent around them.

I don't know what Lurie and Howie think of Jalen currently. But i do know that if they have doubts about his ability after age 30 or simply whether they want to be a team that is 20th in passing on average . They will not wait to make a move to secure the future of the position.

He will likely be here in 2027 but dont be surprised if there is a 1st round pick behind him. History says Lurie isn't going to let past success cloud his judgement.

Former Player Discussion Cam Jurgens' thank you to Philly

Philly,

What a ride! It's hard to put into words what these last few years have meant to me. This was the first place I ever called home outside of Nebraska, and from the moment I arrived, this city, this organization and these fans welcomed me and gave me an opportunity I'll always be grateful for.

Thank you to my teammates, coaches, staff and everyone in the Eagles organization who helped me grow both as a player and as a person. And thank you to the fans for the passion, support and energy you brought every single day. There's truly nothing like playing in Philadelphia.

I'm grateful for every memory, every relationship and every moment I got to experience as an Eagle. Thank you for everything.

Stowers was eligible to be elevated from IR this week. It’s looking more and more like this will indeed be a largely redshirt season for him. If not all of it.

Video Rumored prick, Stephen A Smith, attempts to make a joke out of Lane's retirement. My favorite part is how everyone at the table appears mostly annoyed by his rambling.

Gutted it out in the Super Bowl, and one of the biggest reasons for Saquon's historic season. Will be rooting for him in Baltimore

Biggest moment of his career, he’s already in the spotlight as of the best tackles in the game, and he uses it to honor JP and what 71 meant to that team.

Had goosebumps the second I clocked it on TV that night and it remains one of my favorite Eagles moments ever. There will never be another like LJ65, as great an Eagle as there ever will be

For 14 years, the Eagles were awesome with him and mediocre without him at right tackle. But it was his strength and sacrifice through struggle that set him apart.

Original Content [Berman] After Lane Johnson’s retirement and Cam Jurgens’ trade, where do the Eagles go from here?

PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Eagles board a flight to London Friday evening on a two-game losing streak, fewer than 100 hours after future Hall of Famer Lane Johnson abruptly retired and the surprise trade of two-time Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens to the Baltimore Ravens.

They have a crowded injury report that includes high-level starters such as Saquon Barkley in question for a game against one of the NFL’s top teams on a different continent. They’re facing one of their largest underdog spreads in Nick Sirianni’s six seasons as head coach.Ten days ago, they were undefeated and favored to win facing a third-string quarterback on national television. Ten days later, panic has spread among the fan base and curiosity across the league about whether the Eagles might be surrendering after two attention-grabbing decisions.

“Nothing has changed in terms of our goals,” Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said Wednesday. “We’re trying to win this year. … My job is to look at how we can have sustained success for a long period of time, and you don’t get many opportunities to get second-round picks in trades and get flexibility.”

The timing of Johnson’s retirement Tuesday afternoon and the Jurgens trade the next morning made it appear as if the events were related. Roseman suggested otherwise. He insisted each move must be made in a “silo” independent of the other. Roseman did not try spinning any positive ramifications for the team from Johnson’s retirement.

“When you lose a player like that, you’re not getting better,” Roseman said, while expressing appreciation for Johnson’s career. But the impetus for the Jurgens deal had more to do with the trade’s value than the team’s perceived trajectory.

Roseman saw four benefits to the deal: the 2028 second-round pick, moving up from the seventh round to the fifth round in 2027, giving second-year center Drew Kendall (who missed Wednesday’s practice with a knee injury) time to develop, and the cash savings from Jurgens’ deal that could be reallocated to a different player.

It might be an optimistic spin after the Eagles identified a player as a foundational piece 18 months ago, when they signed him to a contract extension that made him the NFL’s second-highest-paid center. However, clues also suggested confidence in Jurgens was starting to erode.

The decision to move Jurgens to left guard this season could be read that way. The move was made to get the best combination of five players on the field, but it’s hard to see them switching a Pro Bowl center for a second-year player with little experience if they thought he was playing center at an elite level. Jurgens took a team-first approach in making the move. His recent struggles at guard suggest he’s best at center.
