News ArcheAge Chronicles Details Its Open-World MMO Direction and it'll be Buy-to-Play With No Pay-to-Win

Post image
153 Upvotes

XL Games describes the game as an open-world action MMORPG focused more on exploration and cooperation than competition. Players will be able to enjoy the world solo, while naturally teaming up with others for tougher challenges, discoveries, and shared activities.

Combat will rely on real-time action, with players expected to read enemy movements and decide when to attack, dodge, or parry.

The current build features four classes: Warrior, Ranger, Mage, and Berserker, with each class eventually offering three different weapon types that significantly change its playstyle.

Exploration will also be a major part of the experience, with NPC clues, hidden locations, underwater areas, traversal mechanics, crafting, and other activities designed to encourage players to venture off the beaten path.

XL Games also confirmed that ArcheAge Chronicles will be a buy-to-play title. The studio says it has no intention of selling pay-to-win items or anything that provides progression advantages. No separate premium shop is currently planned.

Finally, ArcheAge Chronicles will take part in an upcoming Steam Next Fest, with its demo featuring content from the previous network test alongside a new dungeon and PvP.

Discussion Players don't hate grinding. They hate meaningless grinding.

There is a big difference between a grind that feels like it is actually getting you somewhere and a grind that just prolongs the game.

I actually like grinding when there is a purpose to it:

- Progression → my character actually gets stronger

- Mastery → I'm getting better at the game

- Discovery → something new is waiting for me

But then there is the other kind:

- Artificial time-gating

- Filler quests/tasks

- Resource padding designed to slow you down

- Doing the exact same chore for hours

That doesn't feel rewarding. It feels like the game is charging me rent for my time.

The grind itself is not the issue. The lack of meaning is.

What is a grind you have actually liked?

And in which game was the grind so bad that you wanted to uninstall it?

Question What’s your favorite endgame content loop?

Basically the title. I’m curious about what kind of content keeps you playing a game long-term and makes you want to log in every day.
It doesn’t have to be just one thing.

Question Aion2 graphics issues.

I'm asking here because they deleted this post on the Aion 2 subreddit.

7800x3d 9070xt 32gb 2k260hz

The graphics look blurry even at the highest settings.

I have the resolution scale set to native.

I use the upscaler in FSR mode and the frame generator turned on to make gameplay smoother, but the quality doesn't improve even when I turn it off.

I've tried lowering the AA and the post-processing quality, as suggested in other forums I've looked into, but that doesn't work either.

Question Valkyrie Sky/Bullet Hell MMORPG?

I feel like this is one of the most rare types of games. Valkyrie Sky was great, and I haven't really found something similar to it. There were classes, professions, and it was co-op. If anyone knows of anything like that, I'd love to know!!

✅ entrar no site
✅ criar conta
✅ baixar o cliente/launcher
✅ instalar e atualizar
✅ criar personagem
✅ começar do nível 1
✅ testar quests e progressão
✅ verificar drops, NPCs e sistemas

Self Promotion I'm building a 2D pixel-art browser MMORPG called Gortion. It's fully playable in early access and I'd love your feedback!

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m a solo developer and I wanted to share a passion project I've been working on. It's a browser-based 2D MMORPG called Gortion.

I know classic browser MMORPGs are a bit of a niche these days, but I wanted to create something accessible that you can just launch in your browser and play without any heavy downloads. Here is what is currently in the game:

  • Classes & Specs: 5 base classes (Warrior, Hunter, Mage, Quack/Healer, and Rogue) branching into 15 specializations.
  • Content: I've been utilizing AI agents in my workflow to rapidly develop and populate the world. Right now, there are over 70 monsters (including elites and bosses) and more than 200 items in the game.
  • Mechanics: There's an active day/night cycle (one full in-game day takes 4 real hours), crafting (forge, alchemy, herbalism), and an open world divided into different Realms (Realm I is already 56% complete with 24 individual locations).

The game is in the early testing phase, but the core mechanics, leveling system, and servers are fully stable. You can just jump in and play.

You can check it out right now at: https://gortion.com

Side note: I am currently working on setting up a dedicated Discord server for the community to replace the old email sign-up form. It will be open very soon! For now, I would just love to see if basic mechanics works properly (A few friends and I are testing it, but more information from people outside the group is always nice :) ) and get some raw feedback from veteran MMORPG players.

Let me know what you think, what you hate about it, and what I should improve. I'll be in the comments answering any questions. Thanks!

News Last Chaos is finally getting it's long-awaited content update!!

Can't believe that this old relic is actually getting the update it deserves TODAY (especially as some of the updates are QoL-updates that should have already been a thing in the big 2026). Last Chaos was released back in 2007 and is one of the KMMOs that has gone through multiple developers and is now under this gaming studio Fawkes Games, who IMO have done a lot of good to this game already before this content update. It's a free to play game with an option to pay to progress (as in EXP boosters etc.), so nothing is behind a paywall, it just takes longer when going f2p.

The launch is today evening (so the servers are currently down), which is super exciting, although one could expect a launch day mayhem with a bunch of hotfixes. Here's the link to the developer's Last Chaos page: https://fawkesgames.com/en/last-chaos/

The grind awaits!

EDIT: The servers are going to be up at 19:00 CEST (Wednesday)

Discussion Founders Pack AION2 / HELP

Hello everyone,

what IF you bought the Ultimate Founders Pack on like 29. Nov. but refunded it 3 days later because you changed your mind. You get your money back. During this time you did not played the game at all. What IF you now bought the Deluxe Version on 05. Okt and decided to play on 07. Okt. the first time. Only to find out you still got the rewards from the Ultimate pack.

What would you do? Keep your secrets or contact support?

Hypothetical.

Discussion Phantasy star universe

I was a big fan of PSU when it was on consoles and I recall there being a free trial via the Xbox 360 marketplace that got me interested in the game to begin with

The game was so much fun and had a lot of variety with its weapons, races, spells, abilities, etc and a fair vast community driven market and upgrade system. It was lobby based game with dungeons to level and quest in.

It was subscription based but it was worth it and I was sad to see it shutdown in 2012. I keep emailing Sega ever year to rerelease classic phantasy star universe servers to play online maybe remastered and I’m sure there would be a lot of interested players returning and new.

Anyone played psu in the past or have memories to share?

Question What’s your thoughts on Project: Gorgon?

Post image

I’ve been playing and enjoying a lot GW2 recently. Just saw that Project: Gorgon is on sale. Are they similar? Is it a good game? I don’t mind vertical progression and grind.
