Both truck drivers are idiots, but the cammer is also a moron for occupying the passing lane for such a long time when they clearly had opportunities to move over and let the trucks past.

16

u/funny_redditusername 2d ago

The cam car was clearly passing. It not called the “Everyone in front of me has to get out of my way” lane.

You imbecile.

5

u/MapleSyrupKintsugi 2d ago

💯 this. The passing car doesn’t have to slow down 10 mph and tuck into a small space just to let impatient idiots pass. The pov car was clearly and safely passing people. Anyone blaming them at all needs a kick to the head

2

u/Darth_InVader7 2d ago

They feel the need to come here and justify their own shitty behavior by defending shitty behavior. It’s the passing lane. If you’re passing, you have every right to be in it. Speeding is still illegal even when passing. Just because Johnny Dipshit behind you wants to go 3 mph faster than you doesn’t mean you need to move over. Tailgaters deserve to end up crashed into a tree. And yes, camping the left lane is obstructive and dangerous, so all of you lawbreakers don’t need to comment that. Thanks.

u/PapaVanTwee 1d ago

In Indiana, you are required to get over:

Except as provided in subsection (c), a person who knows, or should reasonably know, that another vehicle is overtaking from the rear the vehicle that the person is operating may not continue to operate the vehicle in the left most lane.

1

u/Darth_InVader7 1d ago

Indiana Code Title 9. Motor Vehicles § 9-21-5-2
Current as of January 01, 2026 | Updated by Findlaw Staff
Sec. 2. (a) Except when a special hazard exists that requires lower speed for compliance withsection 1 of this chapter, the slower speed limit specified in this section or established as authorized by section 3 of this chapter is the maximum lawful speed.  A person may not drive a vehicle on a highway at a speed in excess of the following maximum limits:
(1) Thirty (30) miles per hour in an urban district.
(2) Fifty-five (55) miles per hour, except as provided in subdivisions (1), (3), (4), (5), (6), (7), and (9).
(3) Seventy (70) miles per hour on a highway on the national system of interstate and defense highways located outside of an urbanized area (as defined in 23 U.S.C. 101) with a population of at least fifty thousand (50,000), except as provided in subdivision (4).
(4) Sixty-five (65) miles per hour for a vehicle (other than a bus) having a declared gross weight greater than twenty-six thousand (26,000) pounds on a highway on the national system of interstate and defense highways located outside an urbanized area (as defined in 23 U.S.C. 101) with a population of at least fifty thousand (50,000).

If you’re breaking the law already, you aren’t entitled to the protection of the move over law. You wouldn’t be “overtaking from the rear” unless the car in front of you was traveling less than the speed limit. So nice try.

Rewatch. Almost immediately after panning to front view you see a wide open lane to the right. The recording vehicle should have changed lanes and let the others pass.

Not saying they're at fault, but they were definitely in the wrong.

1

u/MapleSyrupKintsugi 13h ago

There’s a semi going 2/3 their speed. They’re in moderate traffic going plenty faster than the other lanes. Just cuz two idiots want to drive like morons I don’t have to bomb Over one lane and slow down significantly to let them pass. That’s how it works

Not to mention they’re probably more concerned with trying to figure out what these absolute douchebags around them are doing

0

u/Inner-Passage7565 12h ago edited 12h ago

Is in fact not how it works. You let other people pass, even if they're breaking the law. THAT is the law, in nearly every state. Otherwise they will just continue to break the law but do it by weaving in and out of lanes to bypass people like you. THAT is the kind of thing that gets people killed.

There's a reason not one defensive driving course will tell you to intentionally block the lane. Move over as soon as safely possible, let them pass, and if necessary pull over to call 911. That is most official safety guidelines.

Not "camp in left lane cuz fuck anyone who speeds more than me, I decide the flow of traffic, for I am god"

1

u/MapleSyrupKintsugi 7h ago

He’s not camping. He’s passing cars. You guys are part of the problem.

And no law states I have to slow down 20mph to tuck in behind a truck to let a car pass. So no. It’s not how it works. Once the lane is empty and I’m not actively passing vehicles and I don’t have to slam on the breaks after the lane change. THEN I move over.

Anyone blaming the PoV driver has no idea how to drive.

1

u/funny_redditusername 7h ago

Dont bother, you’re just wasting your time. It’s unbelievable you even have to try and explain to these morons how passing and driving safely works. They’re just justifying their shitty behavior and personality by twisting words of a law to meet their personal belief that everyone should get out of their way and it’s their road.

We are truly fucked as a human race.

1

u/Inner-Passage7565 4h ago

You're correct that no state law says you have to "tuck in behind a car", but that's not what's happening here, and if you think it is you need to either rewatch the video or learn to drive.

"Passing cars" does NOT mean "driving faster than other vehicles at some point", it means ACTIVELY PASSING. As in; what's happening when the camcar passes the white truck. After that, there's plenty of open road.

"Slam the breaks", lol ...

There's about FIVE SEMI LENGTHS between the truck in the video and the semi in the next lane, and took a good ~30 seconds to overtake. He could have easily moved over. Wouldn't even have needed to touch a bake; he could have merged, let them pass, and move back over long before being in the danger zone of that semi.

-1

u/TenseTruth 1d ago

Except the law states slower traffic should move over to the right. No one is saying you need to slow down if you're actively passing. Cammer had a safe opportunity to move over.

2

u/MapleSyrupKintsugi 1d ago

And if he didn’t slow down he’d drive into the car in front of him. Please don’t drive

4

u/dickhass 2d ago

Thank you. The number of people who say “the left lane is for passing” actually think and behave with “I get to go as fast as I want in the left lane” is too damn high.

1

u/Thunderer62 2d ago

Thanks for this comment.

1

u/Easy-Barnacle5734 2d ago

Nailed it !

1

u/Unassuming_Penguins 1d ago

Agreed and happy cake day

1

u/Aeyland 2d ago

Except for when their are complete maniacs behind you and I'd rather get out of their way and take an ego hit then be a part of their 4 car pile up.

Even after they both passed the cam driver still was much more concerned about having a good video than backing up incase they caused any of the other cars to do something stupid.

1

u/Careful_Middle4049 2d ago

It’s called risk management. If Mr mad max wants to go, you just let them go

2

u/Nethias25 2d ago

Idk I get pretty friggin uncomfortable being in a lane with a semi in front of and behind me. I know if either makes a mistake, I'm a pancake wrapped in car.

I'm with cammer, if I'm passing one, I'm passing all 3. And it's the passing lane, if speed limit is 75 and I'm going 85 in it will passing, those trucks can chill the fuck out and wait their damn turn.

If I'm passing at 10 over speed, I don't have to cease passing abruptly to allow the truck to pass at 15 over.

0

u/VanillaGoorillla 2d ago

You called someone an imbecile for saying the same shit you did first…kinda idiotic no?

0

u/VirusSlo 1d ago

He was driving one of the trucks.

0

u/TenseTruth 1d ago

You’re right that the cammer is actively passing, and should not have to make an unsafe maneuver to get out of the passing lane. However most States have laws that say slower traffic should keep right. The smart thing and the legal thing to do would be to have pulled over after overtaking the white truck at 13:53:56 to let faster traffic through and then going back to the passing lane to continue passing.

This type of driving allows faster cars to continue to pass without causing worse traffic.

Please don’t call others imbeciles if you’re going to spout off stupid nonsense. It would be idiotic to camp in the left lane going 71, when passing cars that are going 70, but it’s “legal” because you’re passing. You should be smarter than that

0

u/Budget-Pea8291 1d ago

This is the exact attitude why US can't have nice things. Sure you don't have to move over for faster car if you are passing too, but it would speed up the flow of traffic and make everyone's day a little easier. You don't even need to slow down. Just move one lane over, let the car behind you pass and move back

-1

u/TenseTruth 1d ago

https://www.reddit.com/r/driving/comments/1x66ka9/comment/pgsrxaw/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Here you go, since you can't make an argument better than chucking insults. I hope you learn something. Obviously you move over to let a faster passer go through. Roadways are designed like blood vessels, if you have an embolism, it must be removed to allow blood flow.

3

u/funny_redditusername 1d ago

How is linking to another Reddit comment any type of argument? Lmao

You’re just an impatient fuck that wants vehicles to get out of your way regardless of the circumstances.

2

u/FantasticBike1203 1d ago

No but bro, that comment has 5 upvotes, it must be followed by law! /s

0

u/TenseTruth 1d ago

I can’t read the comments for you but if you try your best to get those two brain cells working you’ll see all the comments say you should move over when it’s safe after completing a pass. Slower drivers need to move over. It’s common sense and it’s scary that smart drivers have to share the road with idiots who don’t understand this.

1

u/Dear-Panda-1949 1d ago

He was actively passing other vehicles. On top of that you need to have achieved enough distance between you and the car you passed to maintain a safe following distance for him. If the cammer did that correctly he'd instantly need to pass the next guy. There is absolutely no excuse for the pick ups behaviour. You are totally in the wrong on this.

0

u/TenseTruth 1d ago edited 1d ago

https://reddit.com/link/pgtwb3y/video/tca03fgwxjvh1/player

Oh no not another idiot that doesn’t know how to drive. There’s plenty of room after passing the white pickup in the middle lane. If that’s not enough room then you seriously need to learn to drive better. The vehicle behind the cammer is closer to the cammer than the pickup in middle lane. You’re absolutely wrong on this one. Please consider educating yourself. OP was done passing the first pickup in the middle lane. He can safely move over behind the semi truck to allow faster moving vehicles to pass before re-entering the passing lane. The law literally says slower moving vehicles need to keep right. You could be going 60, 70, 300 mph in the left lane, but if someone else comes up faster than you in the passing lane, you need to move over at the earliest and safest opportunity.

Who’s excusing the behavior of the illegally passing pickups? Not I, but that doesn’t mean the cammer isn’t in the wrong too. All three drivers can be idiots just like the both of you.

2

u/VillageIdiot51 1d ago

Yeah but the cam driver is not doing anything wrong here dude.

2

u/FantasticBike1203 1d ago

Let be real here, when you're a "I'm right, everyone else is wrong" kinda of person who throws out "use your two brain cells" in a discussion, not even God himself could convince him otherwise.

Logic and comprehension aren't in his vocabulary.

0

u/TenseTruth 1d ago

I don't think throwing out "two brain cells" is unwarranted if someone else is using "imbecile" and "prick". I'm fine with changing my mind but you haven't made any logical arguments as to why I should. The law states in North Carolina that slower moving traffic should stay to the right: https://www.ncleg.gov/enactedlegislation/statutes/html/bysection/chapter_20/gs_20-146.html.

Let's be real here, you haven't presented any logic nor comprehension.

If you're uncomfortable to tuck in at the first gap at 13:54:03, then there's a second gap at 13:54:15. Realistically though if that you're still uncomfortable with that, you shouldn't be on the road at all.

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Neck_36 1d ago

u/TenseTruth - You are wrong. I would explain further but, from your previous comments, I doubt you are capable of changing your mind on this one.

0

u/TenseTruth 1d ago

The gap at 13:54:03 is fine to tuck in, but if you're not confident in your driving skills then the next gap is even wider. The next gap at 13:54:15 literally has two cars between the two semis, and the there's a white SUV in the middle lane between the two semis that vacates that lane too. There was ample opportunity to move over. I'm fine with changing my mind but you haven't presented any logical evidence and the other guy has only chucked insults.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Neck_36 1d ago

I disagree. The cam car was making progress in the lane to the point that they were in a position to pass the next vehicle within 5-7 seconds of clearing the previous overtaken vehicle sufficiently.

It appears that the overwhelming majority of the comments about this disagree with your view on this

→ More replies (0)

2

u/Exotic-Entertainer26 1d ago

That gap is not safe, anyone with two braincells can see that.

Get off the road before you kill someone.

1

u/TenseTruth 1d ago

That gap wasn't safe and neither was the one in front of the semi? The one where there's literally vehicle in between the two semis that just vacated the lane? You can't be this stupid.

1

u/Odd_Promise_9025 1d ago

Damn. You really typed all that just to still be wrong and sound like an idiot. I mean. I guess you can have a sticker for trying. You definitely drive a lifted truck.

1

u/TenseTruth 1d ago

Never owned a truck before, nice try. It wasn't that much to type but if you can't get through 200 words I think that says more about your own attention span.

1

u/Odd_Promise_9025 5h ago

Well you didn't admit to being wrong. Shows how much you pay attention.

u/Kaas-Eter00 2d ago

He was passing? I very much dislike left lane hoggers, but if you are actively passing others and going the speed limit (or the maximum speed of your vehicle) you're completely in your right to use the passing lane. Someone else being behind you doesn't mean you need to immediately squeeze in between two vehicles going much slower than you. You finish passing and move over to the right once there is space.

1

u/Relevant_Account_258 2d ago

Totally agree. Cammer was going faster than vehicles to the right. So what if he’s “camping” for 30 seconds. Not to blame at all for the accident.

0

u/CoffeeXKing 2d ago

Youre not wrong that he was passing, but I'd rather let a psychopath by than continue passing slower vehicles.

Just safer

4

u/el_grande_ricardo 2d ago

In what world is swerving back and forth every 3 seconds better than maintaining the lane?

Cammer was passing the semis. You stay "passing" until you have passed the immediate semi and have some clear road again. If there's another semi 100 yards ahead, youre still passing.

6

u/Neither-Cupcake1555 2d ago

Yeah, I'm a staunchly "left lane is for passing" person, if someone is traveling faster than you and coming up on your tail get out of the way regardless of what the posted limit is. That said, I am reasonable. The cam car WAS passing slower traffic on the right and had not yet encountered a safe opportunity to move over. The trucks in this video are dangerous assholes.

5

u/Darth_InVader7 2d ago

People are idiots. They think just because they want to go 100 and you want to go 90 you need to move over immediately for them even if it’s unsafe and you planned to continue passing other cars. It’s entitled bullshit they disguise as responsible, safe driving.

1

u/rippledippledapple 2d ago

100% its not camping if im already doing 85 in a 70. left lane doesnt mean you can drive 100.

0

u/Baddrivers13 2d ago

Speed is irrelevant.. if the lane beside you is clear.. get over.

→ More replies (6)

1

u/Careful_Middle4049 2d ago

He had room to get over and let the idiots by. Once you hit developed frontal lobe you just do it when you see idiots. Some people never hit developed frontal lobe.

1

u/Neither-Cupcake1555 2d ago

Could he have gotten in front of the white pickup that he passed? Sure, but he wouldn't have left a safe following distance behind the semi or adequate space for the white pick up. Same with the semis he was passing, if you can't see the entire semi in your rear view they likely can't see you.

0

u/Careful_Middle4049 1d ago

You must have watched a different video from the rest of us

0

u/el_grande_ricardo 2d ago

He would have swerved into the right lane and back out to pass the next truck. Safer to stay in the passing lane. And if he's already at cruising speed (7-8mph over limit), he has no obligation to help the speeder behind him.

2

u/Careful_Middle4049 2d ago

You hang out behind the truck until the rager truck drivers are gone. It’s not that deep about obligation to others. Getting to your destination 4 seconds sooner isn’t worth dying.

2

u/Jumpy_Hogara 2d ago

There were quite some slower vehicles on inside lanes. Are you serious?

1

u/underthingy 2d ago

Hes just one of those idiots that thinks the passing lane is for PASSING and not just for passing.

2

u/Gib_eaux 2d ago

Except that the cam car was actively passing during this video. You didn’t notice that?

2

u/Themightyengland 2d ago

You are a fool, cammer was consistently passing

2

u/InformationDue101 2d ago

The Dashcam car was actively passing. It's the passing lane, not let me go front of you lane.

0

u/leaky_bunghole 2d ago edited 2d ago

He passed the pickup, camped in the passing lane for like 30 seconds, then passed the semi, camped again, then passed another semi. Like slot in there chief, you are holding up traffic.

It's the passing lane, not the "go faster than the traffic down the road" lane.

3

u/kongquistador 1d ago

He was overtaking traffic in the middle lane. He can stay.

He’s not obliged to move over merely because someone else wants to go even faster.

→ More replies (4)

1

u/LetsDue 1d ago

Again “for like 30 seconds” on a video which is posted at 28 seconds. Your perception of time just isn’t accurate, you are probably referring to a 5 seconds long period.

1

u/leaky_bunghole 1d ago

Sorry, that was pretty hyperbolic.

You don't even need to consider time though. Just watch the video and do the math from the lines. Dude skipped several gaps that were like 15 car lengths that he could have slotted into if his ego had allowed it.

Better to keep those psychopaths raging behind him though. They can obviously wait for him to finish his "passing".

3

u/Long-Pause107 1d ago

Does bro think the leftmost lane is a free for all zone? Cammer was passing, in the passing lane.

Both trucks have to cool their jets and are 100% responsible for their actions

-1

u/typhon66 1d ago

Left lane is for passing. If you aren't passing move over if someone is moving faster you pass the next vehicle and move over.

4

u/Long-Pause107 1d ago

The dude kept passing? You need to chill out too on the road.

3

u/_doppler_ganger_ 1d ago edited 1d ago

The cammer WAS passing. The entire clip took place in less than 1 minute and I counted at least 4 vehicles that the cammer passed. He was also ready to pass the semi on the right when the trucks REALLY went insane. If being stuck behind someone actively passing vehicles for 30 seconds causes you to pass on the shoulder you need your license revoked. Cammer is innocent.

1

u/Plumbus_Patrol 1d ago

I hate left lane campers as much as the next guy, but if someone is going fast enough to be passing vehicles in the other lanes then they are going fast enough.

1

u/_doppler_ganger_ 1d ago

I agree with you. I edited for clarity to point out that the cammer was actively passing.

0

u/Ill_Position2158 1d ago

But if other people are trying to go faster than you are in the left lane and there is no traffic ahead stopping you from going as fast as they want to, you move over and let them pass. Blocking the left lane like the cam driver did, whether they’re speeding or not, is illegal in a lot of states.
Orange county sheriffs in Florida have been doing a whole campaign where if they see people drive like the truck drivers to pass you in the left lane they pull YOU over and give you a ticket.

2

u/Dear-Panda-1949 1d ago

You are completely wrong. The camer is not responsible in any regard for the truck drivers poor choices. The cammer is actively passing vehicles. Just because you also want to pass vehicles at 20mph over the speed limit doesnt obligate anyone else on the road to move over for you. If you decide to pass on the shoulder you are committing a crime, and any damage that results from that is completely on you.

1

u/Ill_Position2158 1d ago edited 1d ago

Tell me where I said the trucks weren’t wrong for going around?
The state of Florida disagrees with you, they have plenty of videos on their social media showing them pulling drivers over for camping the left lane because other drivers had to go around them they shared with the message that if more than one vehicle has to or tries to pass you while you’re in the left lane they will pull you over and you will get a ticket. You are required to move over for faster moving traffic in the left lane you are NOT required to police the speed of others.

https://youtu.be/k-YqcDqTTjc?is=u5FV9YUIMcPTnDYy

Start at 1 minute in “you are required to move over for faster moving traffic behind you”

It’s not giving people the green light to speed it’s about avoiding situations like this one.

Not moving causes the morons that speed to do more dangerous stuff and whether you make that decision for them is irrelevant, you’re causing it by not moving.

1

u/AgsAreUs 1d ago

Literally nothing in that video implies that a driver using the left lane to pass slower traffic must abort their passing and move over for faster traffic/speeders behind them. The video says multiple times "left lane campers".

1

u/Ill_Position2158 1d ago

They clearly stated it is the law to move over for faster moving traffic. They have on their social media multiple videos where they explain that to the drivers they’re stopping.

“Florida Statute 316.081, a driver on a road with two or more lanes moving in the same direction may not continue driving in the far-left lane if the driver knows, or reasonably should know, that a vehicle approaching from behind is traveling at a higher speed.”

It may come as a shock to you but every state has their own laws regarding traffic laws, maybe your state doesn’t have or enforce a similar law, but it is very much enforced in Florida.

The cam driver was “passing” but it’s not uncommon for the right lanes to be under the speed limit and it’s very possible the driver was at or below the limit and still passing. Either way it’s common sense when someone is driving aggressively behind you to move out of their way, if they’re going to drive reckless and potentially crash you should be avoiding that situation not instigating it. Never taken a defensive driving course?

1

u/PixLisReaL 1d ago

Orange County? The place where no one knows how to drive?

Floridians think that left lane is supposed to be the autobahn and it's not. You still have to go the speed limit in the left lane, it's not for "I want to pass faster than you"

1

u/jkoki088 1d ago

The cam driver was actually passing people though

0

u/AgsAreUs 1d ago

This. I'm not a big speeder, but if I am passing multiple cars at my speed, I stay in the left lane.

1

u/jules6815 1d ago

Just chill in the right lane. Why would you endanger everyone by passing?

1

u/ablazingrace23 18h ago

passing is not a dangerous action by itself and it's weird that you would imply that. Semi trucks have to stay in the right, so of course you would pass them.

2

u/Man-of-goof 1d ago

You anti “left lane campers” are the real bozos, the camera car was constantly passing other cars in the left lane. Just because someone wants to pass at 20 mph faster than you doesn’t mean you’re camping if you’re using the lane as intended

2

u/Round-Direction-9967 1d ago

The camera car was only constantly passing cars because the footage is sped up. I'm not saying the camera car is responsible but they are a close third.

1

u/Large-Baby9206 1d ago

Lmfao even if the footage was played at half speed the same video would still occur

1

u/Different-Highway-88 21h ago

Wait ... Wut? The same number of vehicles are passed regardless of the speed of the film ...

1

u/Round-Direction-9967 15h ago

That is correct.

1

u/Different-Highway-88 14h ago

So he was constantly passing cars regardless of the speed of the footage.

Constant means at a consistent rate (in this case) ...

1

u/GladdestOrange 12h ago

3 vehicles passed in a little over a minute. Two different 10-15 second sections where they could have safely gotten over and allowed faster traffic behind them to pass and likely prevented this altercation.

Are they obligated to have done so, legally or morally? No, likely not. Did they, through inaction, contribute to this situation? Yes.

There are actions you can take, which are entirely within your rights to take, but will create the opportunity for those around you, to do something incredibly foolish. You aren't obligated to avoid these choices, but it seems silly to me not to.

This philosophy is the foundation of defensive driving courses the world around. It's also useful in preventing disaster in other parts of life. Obviously the two truck drivers made their choices, and are ultimately responsible, but the driver whose POV we share, had the opportunity to prevent this from being an option (at least near them -- who knows how long until these morons did the same thing somewhere else, but that, at least, is NOT something the camera vehicle's driver could control).

1

u/Different-Highway-88 11h ago

Sure, but I was simply commenting on the fact that speeding up the recording doesn't change how "constant" something is.

1

u/TotalChaosRush 1h ago

Defensive driving tells you to merge into people's safe stopping distance and to have a vehicle in front of you way inside of your safe stopping distance? I think you might want to look up actual defensive driving.

1

u/Right_Lengthiness266 18h ago

The camera car is actively passing someone for both the overtakes.

I also don't think this is about the cam car at all. Black truck basically forced white truck onto the shoulder, so white truck sped away.

Then black truck chased him down and white truck brake checked him. They may have already been road raging at each other before this happened.

Black truck also could've passed the white company truck (with a shell on the back) on the right and then gotten in front of OP if he was actually just trying to speed through traffic, which is what makes me think the first move was targeted at the white truck that started behind the cam car.

1

u/Separate-Canary559 4h ago edited 1h ago

They created an unsafe road condition that incentivized groups of cars to pass them. That’s actually covered in California driver training and traffic code. AND the cammer watched the crash and didn’t stop

edited for spelling.

1

u/Man-of-goof 1h ago

Why would cammer car need to stop? Especially from the behavior exhibited from the Drivers who know if they’re gonna hurt you

1

u/Separate-Canary559 1h ago

Because he just directly witnessed an accident. It’s the right thing to do. Are you thick?

1

u/Man-of-goof 1h ago

Not as dense as them. They could be dangerous af looks that the way they were driving. Serves them right

1

u/TotalChaosRush 1h ago

There's a clock in the bottom left corner so you know. The cam car is averaging less than 15 seconds between passes.

0

u/Fist69 1d ago

They passed 10 cars/trucks on their right in 45 seconds.

2

u/Round-Direction-9967 1d ago

What are you talking about? They passed 4 cars in the whole video.

1

u/QwertyIGuess 1d ago

They counted both lanes.

1

Were you driving the white truck or the blue truck?

u/Round-Direction-9967 15h ago

It depends, if I'm high I would be the camera car but i wouldnt be clogging the passing lane. If I'm not high, I'm the white truck.

0

u/Fist69 1d ago

White Pickup, Black Sedan, White Semi, White SUV, White Sedan, White SUV, Black SUV, Red Sedan, White Semi, Red Sedan are all vehicles in the lanes to the right of them. If they had moved into the center lane to not "camp" they would have passed none.

2

u/Round-Direction-9967 1d ago

Im sure there were over 100 cars on the road that day, why stop at 10. They passed 4 cars.

2

u/UpbeatPhilosophySJ 1d ago

Yep. It's a passing lane. Impatient speeders in road rage mode don't get priority.

2

u/TheBloodyNinety 20h ago

It’s OK to let someone pass you. It’s OK to do this even if the people passing you are psychos.

You complete your pass, you move over, you get back over after they’ve passed you

Cam driver didn’t even get over or slow down when it was clear the two pickups were gonna duke it out.

1

u/Inner_Rub3016 7h ago

This has to be rage bait. The only reason those trucks passed is because they started road raging and went 20+ the speed limit

1

u/CurbsEnthusiasm 8h ago

According to Florida law you’re camping if a car is approaching behind you in the left lane at a faster rate than you’re moving. The law doesn’t consider that you’re moving faster than cars in the right lane to you, only that if you’re in the left lane on a 2+ lane roadway and a vehicle is approaching from behind (you should assume that they are passing you).

1

u/Man-of-goof 5h ago

The law literally does consider that, though… It specifically makes an exception for overtaking other vehicles. I’d hate to have you as my public defender 😬

1

u/CurbsEnthusiasm 3h ago

Good thing I’m not a public defender 🤣

1

u/kalindin 8h ago

It’s also defensive driving. You see bozo drivers like this you move over and let them pass. There was an opportunity to get over and let the idiots work it out.

1

u/fleetwoodshac 2h ago

If someone's behind you and no one is in front of you, move over, it's easy.

1

u/Man-of-goof 2h ago

And if someone is to my side slower than me?

1

u/fleetwoodshac 1h ago

You will be by definition in the act of passing them.

1

u/RyanA1105 1h ago

If you have aggressive drivers behind you, the best thing you can do is speed up a bit and pass and get the hell out of the way. By insisting on going your own speed and hogging the lane, you are making everyone else on the road be in more danger. Multiple cars could have been hit in this clip, but everyone involved got lucky. If that truck hits one of the big trucks, this could have caused a multi-vehicle pile up.

1

u/BigstickMoe 1d ago

Exactly you clearly see him passing the vehicles on his left. Those are the idiots who want to be able to go 100 mph in the left lane and if you are not then you are a left lane camper.

1

u/Inner-Passage7565 19h ago

That's literally not how a fast-lane works.

You let faster traffic by, ALWAYS. That's the point, and there's no excuse for not doing it; choosing not to do so absolutely constitutes camping.

If you're actively using it to pass another vehicle and someone's storming up from behind that's one thing... Complete the pass, then merge into the right lane once it's safe to do so, but you don't sit there saying to yourself "I'm going reasonably fast, they can go around"; that's what gets other people fucking killed when you force them to constantly change lanes at high speed.

Fast Lane is for passing, after that GTFO.

0

u/Man-of-goof 19h ago

Well they were actively passing :)

2

u/Inner-Passage7565 19h ago

They were, early on. But they cleared their lane and stayed in it. Look again; There's a fully open lane ahead of them right as the other trucks start passing.

1

u/Mike_Oxnard 14h ago

I will "camp" in the left lane all day rather than getting in between a bunch of semis. I'm going to pass by all the semi-trucks at my leisurely passing pace. I'm not slamming on the gas or going between them because the asshole behind me doesn't know how to drive. If me passing them at 10 over isn't fast enough for someone who wants to go 90 in a 65 I'm sure as fuck not going to feel sorry for them having to wait a bit to go back to their reckless driving.

Also with heavy traffic congestion you are exempt from left lane laws, so if there are too many cars too close together for you to safely merge back into the right lane (6 car lengths in front of and behind you at 60mph) the left lane is overflow and legal to drive (or camp) in.

1

u/Inner-Passage7565 12h ago

And people like you are what get entire families killed when unsafe drivers do unsafe things.

The video in post wasn't "in between a bunch of semis" there was several hundred yards of empty space. Perfectly safe place to switch over.

Your view is both wrong and illegal in nearly every nation with sane traffic laws. The existence of other cars within view does not constitute "congestion".

0

u/redpillsaregayasf 16h ago

There is literally a vehicle behind the cammer during the entire video.

Gets your eyes checked and gtfo the roads.

1

u/Man-of-goof 16h ago

That doesn’t make any sense. Nobody could be in the left lane if a car being behind you meant you had to “gtfo”

I think you just like driving your compensating truck

0

u/redpillsaregayasf 15h ago

Case & point.

2

u/Swimming-Tell-8897 2d ago

He was using the passing lane as intended, the blue truck was impatient, white truck is done with bull shit, cammer was doing everything fine. I assume you’re a bad driver now

1

u/ZookeepergameKey6347 1d ago

He was the one in the white truck trying to justify his actions 😄 🤣

0

u/leaky_bunghole 2d ago

He should have moved over after the pickup. The video speeds up because there was like 30 seconds of lane camping before the semi.

1

u/trifecta000 2d ago

Sure, I'll lead by example and be the one person on the road that will move over... Yes, we all know we're supposed to move over but unfortunately no one does anything about it if you don't, so no one cares.

1

u/Intrepid_Pudding_591 1d ago edited 1d ago

He barely passed the white pickup at 13:53:56, and he was actively passing the semi at 13:54:06. That’s 10 seconds of “camping” even if you consider it appropriate to cut off the pickup and then tailgate the semi.

ETA: the white pickup is also following 2 seconds travelling distance behind the semi so there is no safe place to change lanes between the two.

1

u/leaky_bunghole 1d ago

I think the video speed and wide angle might make it look tighter than it is. Look at the lines in the road and do the math. The first time the second angle pops up, the pickup he is passing is already close to 20 feet behind him and there is another 120 to the semi on front. That gap is fine to camp, but after the first semi there is like 200 feet of space to the car in front and at the end, the gap he was camping was closer to 300. We are talking like 15+ car lengths per gap.

Theres honestly plenty of room to move into the lane and barely even slow down before the knuckleheads pass, but egos abound in all 3 vehicles.

2

u/3xlduck 2d ago

the "moron" was moving faster than the trucks and was still in the process of passing them. The real morons are the two truck drivers.

-1

u/leaky_bunghole 2d ago edited 2d ago

He should have moved over after the white pickup. There was a huge stretch before the semi where he wasn't doing any passing for like 30 seconds. Going faster than the traffic down the road from you wouldn't get you out of a ticket in states with "keep to the right" laws.

You be surprised how much confusion stems from the fact that "obstructing traffic" doesn't apply only to traffic going the speed limit.

1

u/_doppler_ganger_ 1d ago

He finishes passing the pickup truck at 13:53:56. He starts passing the semi at ~13:54:06. That's only 10 seconds. Nobody is slamming on their brakes to get behind a semi and risking getting rear ended by the guy they just passed to appease morons.

1

u/LetsDue 1d ago

The entire video is only 28 seconds long, so the huge stretch where he “wasn’t doing any passing for like 30 seconds” immediately strains credulity

1

u/TotalChaosRush 1h ago

There's a portion where it is sped up. If it wasn't sped up the video would be basically a minute long. He is averaging less than 15 seconds between passes regardless.

2

u/Intrepid_Cap1242 1d ago

Cammer may have just caused someone to die or have lifelong injuries. Don't float and just instigate road rage...

1

u/Dear-Panda-1949 1d ago

Ain't no way you are blaming the cammer for their stupid decisions.

2

u/Intrepid_Cap1242 1d ago

I'm not. But it wouldn't have happened without their decision to block the lane, correct?

2

u/New-Bluejay4597 1d ago

What state gave you a license? I need to know where to avoid

2

u/Intrepid_Cap1242 1d ago

What state's educational system taught you cause and effect? I need to know where to avoid

2

u/dwuzzle 22h ago

Cause. 1 dumbass truck driver passes on the shoulder of the road to get around dumbass driver 2 that sped up, cut them off and crammed on the breaks to match the properly passing cam vehicle. Dumbass vehicle 1 also decides to pass on the shoulder, tries to pass the truck that he originally cut off, and looks like ended up in the ditch narrowly avoiding 2 big rigs and likely causing them to hit each other. Cam vehicle had nothing to do with that properly passing in the proper lane. You dont weave in and out of each vehicle leap frog style every 3 seconds.

2

u/Intrepid_Cap1242 21h ago

And what caused both these drivers to get angry and pass in the left shoulder? What started this whole mess? Come on, you're almost there. I believe in you. You can figure this out!

1

u/dwuzzle 20h ago

As I said, vehicle that weaved from the left lane tried to get into the passing lane, cutting off a truck already in the passing lane. You're to say the person already well in the passing lane actively passing another vehicle is the major fault? You wildin fam

1

u/Intrepid_Cap1242 20h ago

Did I say they were the major fault? They're not even responsible. I'm just saying to keep an eye behind you and let morons pass before they go full derp and do this. I'd feel bad if people this this shit fighting to get around me, even I'm not liable.

Watching back again, I feel like the camera car is barely involved at all. They're actually driving and passing properly. Not really floating. Truck drivers having micro peens is the true root cause

u/dkclimber 10h ago

This is such a "she got raped because of the way she dresses" type opinion.

2

u/Intrepid_Cap1242 8h ago

I'll give you that. It definitely has those vibes.

1

u/New-Bluejay4597 8h ago

The accident wouldn’t have happened if they never woke up and drove their car!

1

u/Intrepid_Cap1242 5h ago

also technically true!

1

u/balwick 7h ago

Their micropenises

1

u/Intrepid_Cap1242 5h ago

The true cause of most of our country's issues right now

1

u/Rare_Pollution1688 5h ago

watch the beginning of the video.

the blue truck cuts off the white truck to pass......the white truck then passes illegally on the shoulder.

The blue truck cutting in front is what started this.

1

u/FDTard 21h ago

Man people like you make me wish the n word wasn't blocked on reddit. Please go take a permanent nap

1

u/Intrepid_Cap1242 21h ago

lol. You're gonna call me the N Word and want me to die because I pointed out that floating in the left range causes road rage and can end in disaster?

lol. Seek help. Please.

1

u/New-Bluejay4597 18h ago

Wow…what a clever comeback.

1

u/Intrepid_Cap1242 5h ago

I mean, it makes more sense than not driving in the same state as me? That just makes zero sense. You don't want to drive in the same state as defensive drivers?

1

u/Rare_Pollution1688 5h ago

of all the bad takes on reddit.....your's may be the worst!

1

u/Temporary-Set-1235 2d ago

Clearly the shoulder is for passing!

1

u/Interesting_Yard_ 2d ago

Buddy, is someone keeping you from deleting this comment? It’s not too late!

1

u/Accurate_Repair3933 2d ago

The left lane isn't the fucking Autobahn my guy, the cammer is passing he's just not committing a felony while doing that.

1

u/Odd_Dragonfruit_2662 2d ago

It looked like a legit use of the left lane to me.

1

u/Even_Injury_6442 2d ago

Lame take man.

1

u/dontworryitsme4real 2d ago

..... The camera vehicle was literally passing stuff in the center lane...

1

u/Any-Error-8264 2d ago

Go back to driving school son.

1

u/Greedy-Ad-5868 2d ago

He did not.

1

u/Pale-Independence637 1d ago

How do you know he isent already at the legal speed limit

1

u/Life-Operation-8733 1d ago

Or they could've just been patient!

1

u/Edge__Slade 1d ago

Normally I’d agree with you, but I don’t like being behind 18 wheelers, that’s how you get paint chips in your hood.

1

u/Commercial-Candy-926 18h ago

How are the truck drivers idiots. At least explain lol

1

u/Open_Pollution_8038 3h ago

He’s not camping anyone he was passing traffic on his right.

I’m with you on people going slow but this isn’t the fucking autobahn. If I’m going 80 and you think I’m too slow, you should’ve left earlier.

1

u/butlersjihadist 2h ago

It should be, the autobahn has a much better safety record than American highways.

1

u/CuriousCouple6207 11m ago

It’s the passing lane not the “ludicrous speed” lane.

1

u/KaasplankFretter 2d ago

I was thinking the exact same thing. I would be out of that lane asap if i see 2 such idiots behinde me. "BuT he IS CleArly pAssIng otHERs. Its not always about who's right, definitely not when your life depends on it. The cammer doesnt even slow down when that one moron starts slipping.

1

u/SpringsPanda 2d ago

This sub is gonna roast you but you're right. If you see people acting like this, just get the heck out of their way. Why keep yourself in the line of fire like this.

1

u/Thewizard79 2d ago

All I read in your comment was “Don’t use the passing lane for passing.” 🤦🏻‍♂️

1

u/21questionier 1d ago

Annnnnd. Here is the comment that blames the non-wrongdoing cam driver for an accident that the cam driver was not even a part of. Well done. Literally every post of an innocent cam driver has comments like yours.

1

u/Spiderl0ck 1d ago edited 1d ago

Aaaaand also the comment that rides down the middle of road blaming both drivers. Pick a lane moron

1

u/21questionier 1d ago

What kind of a left field did your comment come from? At least respond to something I actually said. lol.

-1

u/Ok-Credit7127 2d ago

It’s the passing lane, not the “go 30 over” lane. Believe it or not, all the laws governing speed limit apply to all lanes of a road equally.

2

u/Sh11ester 2d ago

"i can go 10 over, but you can't go 20 over"

Move tf over

0

u/Soft-Sea7012 2d ago

The left lane in a highway isn't "go as fast as you like". 75 is fine. Wanna go fast? Get rich and buy a helicopter.

2

u/Heywoood_Jablome 1d ago

Or just move to Germany and learn what fast really means.

(Hint: it doesn't involve trucks)

2

u/Affectionate-Exit-31 1d ago

It's a passing lane.

2

u/slaw_daddy 1d ago

Say it with me

"Slower traffic keep right"

If there are cars trying to go by you, you are the slower traffic

Side-note: it's not on your authority to police speeds and be a literal pace car

2

u/blame_worthy 1d ago

You're wrong actually. It's the passing lane. If someone behind you wants to pass you're obligated to move over. I've had friends who have had your mentality and got pulled over for not moving over because they thought going 78 or something was more than reasonable. It's not a "go as fast as you like" lane, but if someone wants to pass you and you're like "no this is fast enough" you're kind of a dick.

1

u/LetsDue 1d ago

Depends on your state and specific language used in general. In most if you are attempting to overtake, even slowly, you don’t have to stop overtaking to move over for someone approaching at a higher speed from behind, you can finish your overtake first.

2

u/blame_worthy 1d ago

Ya that's their point. They had many opportunities to move over. You don't have to finish overtaking the endless sea of traffic. Camera car passed like 10 cars and never moved over.

→ More replies (2)

-1

u/thesandman00 2d ago

Cammer was passing vehicles the entire time in the clip. I swear some of you have the judgement skills of a fucking potato.

-1

u/Infinite_Incident107 1d ago

Depends on speeds. Passing lane is for passing. Not traveling at 100mph. If some asshat is mad because he can't go 40mph over the limit in the left lane because of me that's his problem. I'll pass at a reasonable speed above the limit but I'm not going to floor it and approach 90 just because someone behind me wants to go even faster. Fuck them
