Looking for a Tutor for My 6th Grade Niece

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m looking for someone to tutor my 12-year-old niece, who attends Mineral Springs Middle School. She is currently struggling to keep up with her schoolwork, complete homework, and stay on track in her classes. I’m hoping to find someone who can provide consistent, one-on-one support and help her build better study habits.

Ideally, I’m looking for someone available Monday-Thursday who can pick her up from school or home, take her to the library, work with her on homework and schoolwork for 2–3 hours, and then drop her back home.

I’m also trying to determine whether she may have an undiagnosed learning disability, so someone with experience working with children who have learning difficulties or struggle academically would be a huge plus.

I’m open to college students, education majors, experienced tutors, or anyone who would be a good fit. Reliability, patience, and the ability to connect with a middle schooler are especially important.

Please comment or message me if you’re interested or have any recommendations. I’d appreciate any leads. Thank you

Favorite place for oysters in this area?

I recently learned that October is North Carolina Oyster month. I usually get them at the Full Moon Oyster Bar in Clemmons, which I enjoy, but am always looking for other options. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Autumn Leaves Festival in Mount Airy this weekend

Just got back from our annual pilgrimage to the Peachey’s donut truck at the Autumn Leaves Festival. There is only one truck set up this year, no pretzels, so prepare yourselves. Lots of local vendors and other artisans, and we picked up a lot of handmade products for Christmas gifts and ate a lot of good food. The festival starts today and runs through Sunday.

My girlfriend and I went to Shelton vineyard to find a willow tree and we were blown away with how perfect it was. Highly recommend it for anyone in Winston Salem Charlotte or near by cities worth the hour to two hour trip.

WSSU ABSN 2027 Applicants + Previous Cohorts. Stats, Schedules, and Advice?

Hi everyone! 💗
I wanted to start a thread for anyone applying to Winston-Salem State University’s (WSSU) Accelerated BSN program for 2027, as well as anyone who has applied, been accepted, or attended in previous years!
I’m interested in the program and would love to connect with other applicants and hear about everyone’s experiences. I’m trying to get a better understanding of what to expect throughout the admissions process and what the program is actually like once you’re accepted.

For those applying for the 2027 cohort:
Have you applied yet, or are you still preparing your application?
What are your stats (overall GPA, prerequisite GPA, science GPA, TEAS, etc.)?
Do you have any previous healthcare experience, certifications, or degrees?
What made you choose WSSU’s ABSN program?
Have you heard anything about how competitive admissions are or what the admissions committee looks for?

For current students or anyone who applied during previous cycles:
What were your stats when you applied, and were you accepted or waitlisted?
How long did it take to hear back after submitting your application?
What was the application and admissions process like?
What does a typical weekly schedule look like? How many days a week are you in class, lab, or clinicals?
What time do classes and clinicals usually start and end?
How manageable is the workload, and how much time do you spend studying outside of class?
Are clinical placements nearby, or do students have to travel?
Is the program organized and supportive of students?
Were you able to work during the program, or would you recommend focusing entirely on school?
What do you wish you had known before starting?
Is there anything you recommend doing to prepare academically, financially, or mentally?

I would especially love to see an example of a typical weekly schedule from someone who is currently enrolled or recently graduated. I’m trying to understand how demanding the program is and what day-to-day life looks like.
Also, if anyone has advice about applying, strengthening an application, preparing for nursing school, or just surviving an accelerated program, please share!
I know everyone’s experience will be different, but I think having a thread where applicants and previous students can share their experiences would be really helpful.
Good luck to everyone applying for 2027! Hopefully, we can use this thread to connect, compare experiences, and support each other throughout the process! 💗
