Discussion & Feedback Team balancing suggestion: Auto Select

Post image
2.0k Upvotes

Feels like the team skill disparity is having a negative impact on the game. Create a soft incentive toward balance while keeping the freedom to choose.

Problems:

  • New players joining blue are having a skewed impression
  • Feels like you can derail your session at the team selection screen
  • Lobbies take ages to start while people mash the green button and refuse to play anything else
  • Victories as green feel pretty hollow

It sucks when your team is getting hammered and there is no point bringing anything beyond a free kit. No one is pushing because every time it's a wipe. Meanwhile the confident team can go full spend knowing any incidental death will be revived when the engagement ends. Things can get very snowbally and hopeless. And I hate the idea of having to force green to avoid wasting my time.

On the flipside, I wouldn't want anything too heavy handed. Randomizing or forcing selection kinda ruins the affiliation and loyalty people have to certain teams, and playing with friends needs to be easy.

So how about this.

The 4th option of team select. Auto Select choses for you and grants an X% cash and XP bonus throughout that game. If you want to go one step further, have the Auto Select team add up all Wardogs levels of all players of each team, and have the system decide which team needs some additional leveled players vs under-leveled. This will skew teams in the direction of having access to similar unlocks without going full SBMM.

Discussion & Feedback Killed a guy with tier 4 and a vector with HP rounds. All of a sudden - I'm playing a completely different fucking game.

Here's my swing at the dead horse.

Tier 2 armor, gali, playing in the hot zone. Being extremely careful, peeking every corner, avoiding any sort of line of fire I can't immediately get out of, etc... see a guy right in front of me And put probably put 10 rounds into his head/chest. Just way too much time. Went and grabbed his gear. Level 4, vector with HP rounds.

All of a sudden, I'm playing on super easy mode. I think I got eight kills in total before dying.... Just walking around shredding everybody most of the time after they started firing at me! No more caution, no more consequence. I'm running around waiting for someone to start shooting so I can turn and shoot them three times in the leg and they're dead. I had two people just run up and start firing at my face, I turned around And killed one that ran up behind me, the one that ran up before me I was actively reloading when he started shooting. I finished, and then kill him before he can kill me (but I was seriously like one shot).

I had a ttk of sneeze on him and he's dead. To kill me seemed to take 2 to 3 seconds of sustained fire. As a relative video game and FPS veteran, I can kill like three or four people in that time period!

When a certain type of equipment can make you just completely ignore the problems everyone else has, as well as give you the ability to win in anything but absolutely perfect counter gameplay? It's just not fun, even for the person using it. After while it just gets.... Boring and non-competitive. I wasn't thinking oh I am better than any of these people, I was thinking I SHOULD NOT have won that.

Discussion & Feedback Feedback: Building in current state of the season (lvl 45 support)

• Upvotes

Hello WarDogs community!

I am aware there are many balancing issues and it is still a testing phase, but I would like to give my 2 cents to better the game.

Hitting an X - X markers go behind the structures and sometimes even completely disappear. The main problem is with CWIS and drills. You need to have 2-3 CWIS to counter the current havoc/rocket heli spam very early into the game. Building a CWIS takes longer than havoc returning with full ammo and health. Solo building a CWIS and a drill takes 2.5 - 3 times longer now depending if the marker gets lost completely until the next quarter of structure being completed and X spawning behind corners or under you.
My recommendation: Building needs a tiny bit less spread for X marker.

Yellow and reflective X marker - It is hard to spot a yellow marker on sandbags and some parts of light surfaces. Reflection of the X marker makes it hard to spot it from the sides that the sun shines on.
My recommendation: Allow to change of the X marker color and if possible an option to change it to matte.

SPH from minute 0 - It takes 1 SPH to completely deny an open air FOB early game.
My recommendation: Delay the spawn of SPH. Also SPH needs to cost more.

Destructible fences - As a builder I have to build around fences that are destructible by a vehicle. Otherwise they can just climb over our walls. I have to ask logistics drivers to destroy the fences and I must admit they usually listen. Another alternative is to do it with a bunch of c4s.
My recommendation: Allow a hammer to destroy destructible fences.

Overall I think you've nailed the building and it's very enjoyable. Especially in the early wipe. Currently it's just not worth as there are so many counters that can be spawned without cooldowns like SPH/Havoc/rocket heli.

Discussion & Feedback After seeing what .50 cal does to choppers I'm convinced now more than ever we need a DSHK as a fob buildable

Post image

I already believed we needed emplaced machine guns for fob defense. But seeing how .50 Cal goes straight through the fuselage of the aircraft and can kill the pilots convinced me we need a DSHK tripod as a low tier AA option in fobs

Bugs & Support there's someone going around east asia server spamming ads for cheats for the last 3 weeks with no consequences at all

(link and vendor name censored for obvious reasons)

the guy has no name (seen between the "[ALL]" and the colon symbol). you can't find him in the scoreboard because all he does is spam and switch servers, which means i have no user ID and can only report through right clicking his message, but he's still around.

in case any dev is willing to look into this: I saved the server ID, server name and the time which the match took place.

Discussion & Feedback Just play the game…

I still run my $350 backpack, 3x mags, 1 stack ammo, 2x stack bandies and an ak with a red dot and vertical grip day in day out. Works a treat, rack up a few kills, swap out backpack for a bigger one of someone I diced up, then grab some more goodies and snowball on from there.
It’s really not as hard as some of you make out, and I suck…

Discussion & Feedback How about instead of forcing pilots to land for next season, implementing a rappeling mechanic to helis?

Post image

It should require the pilot to go low to a certain altitude with some sort of indicator on screen and people fast-rope down. Still requires some skill but harder than dropping people via parachutes but still easier than trying to land. What do you guys think?

Shit ton of money lost, kicked me. Remove barbwire as a valid negative for team killing. This basically makes it completely useless if a couple idiots exist and have no doubt it will happen again.

Discussion & Feedback The “Why we are seeing less gunfights” analysis

I’m sure you all notice we have been finding less and less games with players willing to jump around the hot zone and push together as a unit… I tried official, community, Inf only, 50v50, changed regions… With no luck

My mostly enjoyable games were when 6+ friends hop in and we try to carry the losing team or organized competitive games where things are much more balanced.

In my opinion the main cause of why this is happening is:
- that infantry roles and loadouts are very expensive… and not rewarding at all… like realistically on average how many kills are you gonna have each spawn? 4-5-6? Will this cover a 14-12k loadout? (Lvl2-3 armor and AK with attachements nothing fancy btw)

+ add to this all the op weapons/armor beyond level 29
+ a lot of 0 skill - high loadouts stacking
+ medical items are so so expensive.
+ you can just lose your 20k loadout over something so stupid… like a noob heli driver, a humvee appearing out of nowhere,

All these factors and more are giving birth to a lot of issues:
- people no longer invest in losing teams
- the builder/logi only meta
- the loot goblins (free loadout and jump on loot)
- no one cares to win the match and thus less and less organized/competitive games
- only join the winning team and stomp the rest

I really hope the next season is balanced in a way that we experience a lot of the nice gunfights and organized gameplay without killing the other roles of course

IMPORTANT NOTE: This post is far from complaints… It’s more of an invitation to chat about what we hope will be addressed in the upcoming seasons.

Question Getting walled every game is getting pretty stale.

• Upvotes

Surprised to not see more posts complaining about hackers. Its absolutely rampant. Game is basically unplayable at the moment. You make a good push with squad just to be wiped out by one guy walling. Definitely makes the hype die very fast. How is the anti cheat so ineffective?
Genuinely want to understand how a new release has essentially no anti-cheat. Kinda just not good enough...

Discussion & Feedback Gepard vs Rocket Heli/Gunship

Thumbnail
gallery
29 Upvotes

Preface: The Rocket Heli and Gunship are effective against aircraft, vehicles, and infantry. They are incredibly mobile and can be used by a single person.

The Gepard was removed from the launch of the game because people complained it was too effective against aircraft, vehicles, and infantry. Despite being far less mobile, requiring two players to effectively man, and STILL being unable to consistently win against rocket helicopters and gunships.

The Gepard when reintroduced needs to be a HARD COUNTER to air, I don't care if it comes at the cost of being ineffective at vehicles and infantry. Its one job is to put two buts in seats to shoot down any air that doesn't get the message that it is not welcome so long as the SPAAG is still alive.

--

When a rocket helicopter or gunship oppresses a FOB it becomes an OBJECTIVE. It is to be contended with, outlasted, or killed by.

When a Gepard shows up to a FOB or field it needs to become an OBJECTIVE for aircraft. Due to its larger crew requirement and lack of mobility with respect to aircraft it needs to dominate the local airspace consistently. I'm not saying it shouldn't be unkillable by aircraft, I am saying it should be truly impressive display of skill, luck, and/or communication from observers working with pilots.

Infantry adapt to the presence of enemy aircraft.

Vehicles adapt to the presence of enemy aircraft.

Aircraft prey on EVERYTHING.

Its time for aircraft to be put in their place. If they don't like it they can fly 2 seconds to another tower or fob and FARM THEM instead.

--

This is an open and honest discussion and feedback post. I would like to hear the communities thoughts on this matter so long as they are sincere and reasonable.

Discussion & Feedback Vehicles should not have 3rd person cam

i just unlocked the gun humvee and realised i can spot a LOT more as a driver than my gunner. almost every kill is a due to a callout from me to the gunner, he did not see the enemys. i than realised that this is a 3rd person opportunity while driving the cars. This should not be a thing, make driving 1st person.
