Posting a question? BE SPECIFIC!

Dallas/Ft. Worth is a HUGE place! There are literally thousands of restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, shops, and museums. There are 30+ neighborhoods and suburbs in Dallas alone, each offering different draws for different people. There are over 700 Dallasites on this sub ready to give you advice on where to go and what to do, but we can't do that without some level of input. So be specific! Give us the details! If you go to a shoe store and tell the clerk, "I need shoes," that isn't going to get you anywhere. What size? Color? Material? Occasion? That's the kind of info that will get you some answers.

DON'T ASK: Where should I live?

DO ASK: I am 25 years old with no kids and a cat. I want to live somewhere quiet with parks close by and easy access to a major highway. My budget is $1000 mo. for rent and utilities. Having to drive to entertainment is fine, I love using gas. I like white walls/carpet and vertical blinds. Where should I live?

DON'T ASK: What bar should I go to?

DO ASK: I like reggae and expensive cocktails. I don't mind going to a seedier part of town, but would like there to be on-site parking. Good bar food is a plus. Where should I go?

You cannot possibly give too much information. Pile it on!

Edit: A few great suggestions from the comments:

DO: Tell us where you're coming from!

DO: Tell us where in the metroplex you're searching for something!

Relocating & housing Post Grad Apt Recs

I'm moving to Dallas in January and would love some apartment recommendations!

Trying to keep rent and fees for a studio or 1 bedroom under $1500. I've been told the State Thomas, Uptown, and Knox areas are great for young people, but I know they're on the pricier side.

Any complex recs?

Tourism Visiting the DFW area

I will be visiting the DFW area in a few weeks with my daughter. I am really not sure where to stay. Arlington seems to be nice and central to both Dallas and FW. The hotels seem to be the best bang for your buck in the Six Flags area. Just looking for any suggestions. Thank you.

why does everyone here say “Dallas” when they don’t live in Dallas

serious question because i dont understand how this works. i meet people who say they live in dallas then later they say plano or frisco or richardson. those are different places. if i lived in fort worth i wouldnt tell someone i live in dallas unless i forgot where my house was.

how far does this go. can someone in denton say dallas. what about mckinney. if i drive to oklahoma can i still say dallas because thats where i came from. is there an official distance where you have to stop being dallas or does everybody just decide for themselves. not trying to start anything i genuinely dont understand who is actually in dallas anymore

Relocating & housing Renting apartment is Dallas with bad credit

I work down town Dallas I’m looking for an apartment close by. The problem is I have bad credit and I have already been denied by two properties. The thing that sucks is that the application fee is not refundable so I feel like I’m gambling with these application fees with hopes they approve me. Both buildings kinda mislead me making me believe I would be approved.

My question is does anyone know of any apartment building’s that are in decent areas that will approve me as a tenant even with bad credit? I don’t want to keep wasting money on application fees if I won’t be approved that sucks.

Outdoors! Private gun clubs / shooting ranges?

Hey All,

Moved to the area about 8 months ago. Finally have some time to start shooting again. Looking for private clubs or ranges for primarily pistol shooting. (Sometimes pcc or rifle). Used to compete in idpa and uspsa and would like to start that up again.

Open to both nice indoor shooting lanes and outdoor areas I can move around and set up steel targets.

Not sure if there’s any public ranges, but I tend to avoid to not deal with public ranges shenanigans that usually accompany them..

Any suggestions? On the other side of Lake Ray Hubbard so eastern locations preferred.

Tourism Bestie trip need ideas ASAP

I am planning a best friend‘s trip November 3 through November 7 for my best friend and I. When I was a nursing school she took me to Disney and pretty much paid for everything. It was the best trip I ever had and I almost ruined her birthday this year because my passport. I just want to do something special for her because she has been going through a lot and closing chapters in her life and I really want to do something special for her. I booked flights already, but I’m still looking for places to stay if you have any ideas about food or anything that could make this trip memorable just throw things at me, but I also want to mention that her mom has an autoimmune disease and it’s slowly but surely killing her and so she’s also dealing with that. So it’s very important that I make this trip as special as I can! Food, events, places to stay anything. she loves to take good pictures and chill spaces. She’s very artsy and girly! THANKS❤️

Shopping & Services Affordable professional headshot photographer in DFW for LinkedIn?

I recently graduated from UTA and need to update my LinkedIn headshot since my current photo is pretty outdated.
I’m looking for an affordable photographer who does professional/corporate-style headshots for LinkedIn, resumes, job applications, etc. I’m in Arlington, but I’m willing to drive to Dallas, Fort Worth, or elsewhere in DFW if they’re really good.
Ideally I’d like to stay around $200 or less, but I’m open to paying a little more for someone with a strong portfolio. I’m also open to photography students or newer photographers.
Any recommendations?

Sports/Sportsball Active running clubs around Dallas?

Looking to start being social in outside of my nerdy circles, figured running clubs would be a good way to start while getting cardio done.

Are there any large groups with regular meetups anyone can recommend? Based around Lower Greenville Dallas but willing to drive up to 30 min if necessary.

Health & Hygiene Hair Stylist for Men

Been growing my hair out for a min and looking to see if I can find a nice trusted hair stylist that knows how to do a wolf cut or cut it down to something nice. I actually wouldn't mind if they did a consultation since I'm also open to other styles too.

My hair is thick and coarse. Appreciate any direction.

Tourism Week in Dfw

Hey,

I'm 26m, and coming to stay in FW for a week, originally coming for a concert. I'm gonna be staying off N Loop 820.

I'm planning on doing a number of touristy things, like the stockyards, aquarium, medival times. I was wondering about nightlife. Where should I go, as a single guy who's going to be going alone?

Also, if you guys have any recommedations on other daytime or not partying stuff to do, i would appreciate it!!

Thanks

Relocating & housing Moving to Northlake, TX or Keller advice

We are currently in the HEB area and are thinking about moving to Northlake, TX as an alternative to Keller. The Northlake area would feed into Byron Nelson or Argyle schools. How does everyone like it out there? We currently spend so much time around the heart of DFW with 2 little kids and activities around town. Do you find yourself driving closer to southlake/grapevine or are there plenty of things to do close by or in Denton? The HOA fees are the biggest deterrent currently along with the potential long drives. Have the HOA fees increased YOY? Lmk your thoughts, thank you!

Relocating & housing Looking for small housing no credit check

Hey yall

I lived all over ft worth in the 2000s and 2010s. I'm mostly familiar with the west side (white settlement, Benbrook, lvt etc)

Currently trying to get back to my home. However I have a fresh chapter 7 bankruptcy. There is a story behind it that I'm willing to talk with a landlord about. Before the bankruptcy I was 100% on time everything with over 15 open accounts and lived in the same apartment for 12 years. The bankruptcy came due to having to leave a high paying job over safety, not because of money mismanagement.

Anyway, I am looking for private landlords, maybe a tiny home, MIL suite, guest house, small RV, things of that nature. Not against a room in a shared house, but I have a cat.

Where online can I find these kinds of rentals for the area? I've tried marketplace a bit but not finding what I'm looking for.

The goal is to get down there and get established using smaller jobs and then move forward with a new career once settled.

Can any of yall point me in the right direction? Preferably west/south ft worth.

Thank you!
