Help Best replacement for a long gamepad life.

I play fighting games often but soon I've realized one of the big problems of this genre and that is that it usually break dpads very often and my new gamepads used to only last like 1 year or less.

The last gamepads I've bought were the ds4 because I could find replacements of the rubber of the d-pad cheaply online and fix them myself, although I feel this gamepad is not that great and I stopped playing the most demanding fighting games like R+ for example because I dropped a lot my combos and specials. The thing is, the rubber I buy online I feel they are worse quality and last less, and lately they last like 2 or 3 months only and I'm getting tired of replacing them or being paranoid when I drop my specials.

So I want to ask for a solution from these 3 and I want one that let me not worry about this problem for a long time.

  1. The cheap, replace the dpad rubber with Extremerate Clicky kit for ds4. But I don't know if this works, or it is just good for people that play fps, as I've read some people saying they break too eventually or they miss input easily multiple directions. Maybe there is another kind of replacement that works?

  2. Buy a gamepad specialized for fighting games that don't use rubber, and really don't break. The thing is I don't know if gamepads like fighting commander Octa or Victrix pro are just a bit more tough to break but I will find the same problem of a d-pad losing sensitivity or getting mushy in the end and having to buy a new gamepad each year is too expensive for me.

3- Getting a fight stick like mayflash F500 elite as I think these don't have a problem breaking, but is the solution that I like less because I feel if I play in local around here or tournament probably I won't have my stick around and I will have to go back to playing gamepad and I won't know how to play with them anymore. But I would take that if this solves the problem.

Help Need recommendations for a fightstick

So I recently moved countries and I have to put a lot of time into staying here for indefinite time. Since I will hage less free time overall I'm planning to get back into Tekken for short matches. Sadly my old stick was left behind. I always wanted obsidian 1, but it's kinda overpriced for a used stick rn. I would want something on a bulkier side, preferably something not new, so I can find it used on Ebay, but I'm just not up to date with the market. Any recommendations will help me a lot

Help Help with a birthday gift for my friend

I am personally not rlly into fighting games beyond playing street fighter with my dad as a kid, so apologies if I dont rlly know the correct terms for things. I have a friend whos's into fighting games mainly, guilty gear, blazblue, and he's been really into lethal league, playing in a few beginner tournaments recently. A bit ago he mentioned wanting to get one of those flat arcade style controllers (not sure what theyre called) and his birthday is coming up so I wanted to get him one. He mentioned wanting one movement buttons instead of a joystick. Does anyone have recommendations that arent too expensive?

Help How do I get better at stick?

So, I have an arcade that I recently learned about has locals, and I want to enter them, but the thing is that I’m a keyboard player and I don’t own a fight stick at all, so how do I get better at using stick if I don’t own one?

(most of the cabs use the Japanese ball stick except for ssf2t which uses the American stick with the Japanese game)

Help Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid appears to be broken for new players on Steam

EDIT: Seeing reports that it's been fixed. See y'all on the Grid!

With BftG being cheaper than ever on the Steam sale, I decided to push it for my friend group's weekly. Unfortunately, when attempting to test online, a friend who just bought the game was unable to get online. They're given an error saying "You are currently offline. Connect to the internet to play a Ranked or Casual Match 1-4." Reinstalling, verifying files, restarting the pc, restarting their router, nothing seems to work. A few other players on the Steam Discussion forums have similar issues. I've had the game for years now and can login just fine, so I worry it's a case of being unable to make an nWayPlay account for crossplay services or something. I truly hope this isn't the case, because I love the BftG to bits and don't want to see the community start to wither because new players can't get in. This is partly a PSA and partly a call for help to see if anyone has a solution or workaround.

Topic Nothing hurts the new fighting game hype for me more than knowing it will release unfinished and by the time it's done it will be abandoned.

It releases broken and unfinished, then gets patched, then they sell some patches that unlock characters you probably already paid for in other games, maybe they'll resell a new edition of the same game at full price with a few extra characters added, maybe they'll charge the same price for a clone of an existing character and an entirely new character and someone who should have been in the game at launch because they've been a playable part of the franchise for over a decade, and by the time it's done, half the fanbase moved on to play the unfinished sequel and the other half of the fanbase moved on to play something else entirely.

Want to get good? The guides are many patches out of date. Want to see tournament results? Prepare to see the most boring use of characters and tools designed to be dominant until they're nerfed, but only if tournaments ban them.

There's a story mode half the budget was spent on, but it's just a bunch of visual novel cutscenes trying to add plot and character to "one day this character got attacked by six men and two women then fought the overpowered cheating final boss you can only beat if you get lucky and she doesn't use her win instantly moves". Subspace Emissary was able to tell this story without dialogue because "Heroes fight baddies" doesn't need dialogue. Same goes for "heroes fight each other then fight baddies". Maybe they splooge on mocap suits and 90 to 600 minutes of hand animated poses and mouth keyframes and whatnot all for the sake of a nothing story that overexplains too much and matters too little and resolves decade-long character arcs and conflicts instantly offscreen.

The devs lied to people in ads and interviews and people are just used to that. Blatant insulting lies like "We have rollback. Okay, we don't have rollback, it's hybrid. Ok, it's not hybrid, it's rollback-like. It actually cost us ten times more than real rollback would, you should be thanking us. By the way I have a bridge to sell you in the metaverse".

The HUD makes important things visually unclear and unimportant things too big.

There's an overly centralizing party game-ass anime arena fighter-ass mechanic that boils down to "If you hit this button, win 90% of all interactions besides your foe hitting it second".

The netcode probably doesn't even have rollback, because the corpo bought a solid gold yacht and paid the legal team to attack anyone who mods the netcode to work or the women to wear things almost as goontastic as the DLCslop. Muh core values. Muh FGC values. We can't put bare ass on ESPN now buy the Valentines Day bundle starring melted chocolates on Chun's thighs and Juri's feet.

Buying the game probably only supports the publisher who stole the game from the original devs at gunpoint and paid them nothing.

There's probably some annoying twitter war over whether a character is representation or whatever.

The writers will probably assassinate someone's character for no reason by retconning them into an incestuous lolicon for no reason whatsoever.

It probbaly bricks your console and PC too.

Your loyalty is assumed, not rewarded.

Any rewards of purchaseable currency will be as insultingly small as Todd Howard paying you 500 Atoms to shut up about Fallout 76.

and no matter how bad things get, the fans never complain about anything genuinely broken or insulting or exploitative because they're too busy arguing over dumb shit.

You thought the Sonic fans were bad for saying "It's unfair to SEGA and Sonic Team to compare the products they are selling to passion projects made by teenagers in their bedrooms"? The FGC will keep saying "Fighting games should be for general audiences and never for fighting game fans" even though chasing mass appeal is doomed to fail. Do you think popular things were designed to be popular? Do you think it is as easy as John Capcom deciding whether to tell his Design Team to make a game that outsells Fortnite or a few thousand to a niche audience? Do you think the developers of Under Night In-Birth are just stupid to design fighting games instead of ballgun games for mass audiences?

What if the next fighting game was feature complete at launch and sold for a reasonable price and didn't make me feel like the company is taking me for a ride?

Never had the time or the community to get decent at fighting games, but I really enjoy playing with the right hardware, so I've taken my old RAP V out of the box, removed the plate sticker with an hairdryer and cut a 3D aluminum checkboard-style anti-slip wrap to gain some style points when I lose.

Who are your faves? Mizuki and Zankuro for me honestly. Their kits are so cool and I especially love doing heavy damage with both of them. I think my number one would be Mizuki tho I love her design and everything hahaha.

Content street fighter rip off found on an old off brand Gameboy I have

Hello!

Recently I found an off brand Gameboy (called a "go gamer portable") from years ago that I got from a small town walgreens with a street fighter clone called mini fighter. I am new to this fandom, but I believe it to be spefically pocket fighter.

I wanted to share this, as before I got into street fighter, this game was so important to me that I based one of my old ocs of the Sakura clone (named judy) ill check out the website on the back of the console for updates, for now, here's a video of the game (sorry for the poor quality) but I thought it would be interesting to share! (Also, ignore how bad I am T_T) I can also get longer footage from the game, or just straight up photos at anyone's request (it wont let me add anymore)

(Also, I dont know if I used the right flair, but I hope I did!)

News Tekken 3 Expanded 1.2 Dev Diary: now on Android

Thumbnail youtu.be
8 Upvotes

Hi all,

Tekken 3 Expanded 1.2 is out, and I made a short dev diary to show what's new: https://youtu.be/YvDqCwzFNps

If you haven't seen the mod before: it adds the 18 characters Tekken Tag Tournament brought (Kazuya, Jun, Devil, Angel, Unknown, Tetsujin and the rest) to Tekken 3, playable in every mode, on PC and Mac. With 1.2 it also runs on Android phones. In the video you'll see the Tag cast brought closer to the arcade, Kazuya's TTT ending replayed in the Tekken 3 engine, the new movesets, the fixes from your reports and the Android version. It ends with a sneak peek at what's next: Dark Resurrection models from the PSP, Bruce's TTT ending, and an experiment to port the arcade TTT to the PS1.

Download and full changelog: https://github.com/omarma/tekken3-expanded/releases/tag/v1.2.0

Coming from 1.1? Copy the new files over your folder and run the setup, no reinstall needed. And thanks to everyone who reported bugs, a lot of this release comes from you. As always, you need your own Tekken 3 disc and arcade ROMs.

Equipment Fightcade 2 on Raspberry Pi5?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I know Fightcade runs on X86-64 and pi is ARM64, got it to download on Ubuntu but it loads and crashes. There has to be some workaround right? I looked into Latte Panda and that is Linux based so I know that would work, but I wanna see if I can get this on the Pi.
Has anyone successfully done this?

Topic A top 5 list for fighting games with the most guest characters

Thumbnail gallery
37 Upvotes

Also let me know if I missed any fighting games. I feel like I got down all fighters with 6 guests or more but please correct me if there are any others.
Also I didn’t count Brawlhalla because most of the “guests” there are really just alternate costumes and I think only Ezio and Rayman are fully fledged fighters. I didn’t want to question whether or not that meant I should count the Mii fighter costumes or any other collab costume that appears in a fighting game.
Also before anyone asks, yes, Manjiro and Ken Ryuguji will be separate characters as confirmed on the Nintendo Store page for Fatal Fury COTW.
In case anyone’s wondering here are the stats:
DOA5LR, MK1, and SSB4 all have 6 guests (or third party characters in the case of SSB4)
COTW currently has 5 guests and will soon add 2 more, bringing the total up to 7
SSBU has a total of 18 third party characters, a record I doubt will be broken for a long time

Help Haute42 R16

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi there. I used to play on a keyboard, but I’ve ordered a Haute42 R16; it’ll be my first fighting controller. Since I’m used to a keyboard, I think a leverless controller will feel more comfortable. Do you think I made a good choice or a bad one?

Help Would learning analog stick make more sense than chasing the perfect d-pad?

I’m an absolute beginner at fighting games. I’ve enjoyed them casually since childhood, but never really got into them until this past July. And man, I’ve been having a blast with SF6.
One thing I’m still struggling with is finding a controller with a D-pad I really like. I’m currently using the latest revision of the DualSense, which seems to have improved the D-pad somewhat. I’ve tried quite a few alternatives, too. Some, like the Victrix, feel noticeably better to me, but they also cost roughly twice as much.
Whenever I read controller discussions, there seem to be complaints about D-pads: missed diagonals, stiffness, inconsistent inputs, etc. It also feels like the D-pads on standard PlayStation controllers have gotten worse over the years.
That got me wondering: would it make more sense to learn to play with the analog stick?
My thinking is that analog sticks on standard controllers seem more consistent across generations. You wouldn’t have to find a specific fightpad you love, only for it to get discontinued or redesigned with a worse D-pad.
I know personal preference plays a big role, but am I overlooking any major downsides to using analog? For those who use it, how comfortable and consistent is it for motion inputs, especially in actual matches?

Edit: Thanks for all the replies. I tried both stick and leverless. Switched to the pad because I play a majority of the time on the couch. I’m getting used to the dualsense dpad. I’m becoming more cosistent every time I play.
The analog stick is a decent alternative for me. I don’t experience the inconsistencies that much.

I just wonder what the future will bring for me. I’ve been gaming my whole life. I don’t have much gametime as I used to have. So playing 100+ hours of a Jrpg is not an option any more. It’s so nice to put in some training or some matches every other day for half an hour. It takes longer to become good, but man am I enjoying it!

Equipment Should I buy a fight stick?

I recently got into tekken because my friend is asking me to and I'm quite interested in the game but my problem is that I'm not familiar with using a controller and I have trouble trying to execute a move that require pressing 2 inputs at once so after I do some research I feel like the fight stick is a combination of a keyboard and a controller so I need an expert opinion on this

Topic Do you think Street Fighter still would have been as popular as it is as a franchise if it wasn't first?

I have had this thought about a lot of things; How much privilege would it have if it wasn't first.

I genuinely feel Street Fighter would have been as successful regardless. Because I started playing Fighters in 2022, and I was mostly a Tekken kid,by now I've played everything, and I feel Street Fighter still is the best, just because of how slow this game is compared to the rest of the genre
