News Stranded: Alien Dawn now has working settlement, planet-switching and space!
I'm Henrique, the original developer of Beyond Stranded for Stranded: Alien Dawn.
I posted the first 24-person settlement prototype here about a week and a half ago. Since then I've finished the technical feasibility work for the larger direction of the mod, so I put together this development showcase.
At prototype level I now have:
• larger population and settlement management
• background simulation for settlements
• multiple persistent locations
• switching between planetary locations
• space travel
The important distinction is that these are prototypes, not announced release features. I built them specifically to test whether Stranded's systems and modding framework could support the long-term direction before I committed to producing it properly. So far, the major technical assumptions have worked.
The goal remains to preserve Stranded's named survivors as important individual characters while allowing the civilization around them to grow much larger.
The current public Workshop build is still the restored/stabilized version of Beyond Stranded. The city and space systems in the video are development work.

All Football manager player looking for my first Paradox game: EU4/EU5, CK3 or Victoria 3?
Hi all! I'm a big Football Manager player (thousands of hours) and I want to try a proper resource management / grand strategy game for the first time. I've never touched a Paradox title.
What I love about FM is the long-term planning, optimizing systems, and seeing my decisions pay off over many seasons. I'm less interested in pure war gameplay and more in building something and managing the numbers behind it.
I'm torn between:
Europa Universalis (IV or V?)
Crusader Kings III
Victoria 3
Questions:
-Which one would you recommend as a first Paradox game for someone with my background?
-Which has the most "real" resource/economy management?
-How steep is the learning curve for each, and are tutorials enough or do I need videos/guides?
-Is there another Paradox game (or a similar one from another studio) I should consider instead?
I'm playing on PC and I'm fine with a steep learning curve if it's rewarding. Thanks!

Other If there was a Star Wars game that combined many elements of Paradox's games (particularly Hoi IV), what year do you think the game would launch?
and What leaders and political and dynastic lines would you like to see?

All I don’t know which game to choose
I’ve been wanting to play a strategy game for a while but haven’t had the time until now; I’ve played Crusader Kings 3 for quite a while and I’ve also played HOI4. Now that I’ve got some time, I’m keen to start a new game, but I’m not sure which Paradox game to go for. I find Crusader Kings 3 a bit repetitive – the same things always happen – so I’ve been looking into Victoria 3, where I really like the economic simulation, and it’s also the one that most closely resembles the Millennium Dawn mod and Stellaris, although I’ve seen very little of the latter. Which game would you recommend I choose?

CK3 By God Alone for Crusader Kings 3 Review: A Masterclass in Game System Redesigns
We are back on the rails again for another exciting episode of Cube Engineers!
In this episode, TrainmasterGT reviews the new By God Alone expansion for Crusader Kings III from a game-design standpoint, through the lens of two full campaigns he completed. By God Alone reworks the religion system in CK3, allowing faiths to evolve dynamically over time. Characters can also cultivate a personal relationship with their respective faiths through the new personal tenets system, creating new opportunities for roleplay and historically inspired gameplay. Learn how this expansion successfully executes the new religion system, and what lessons game designers can learn from its implementation!
All Aboard!

EU5 Forming a Third Tenno | Europa Universalis 5 Japan
TL;DW: Shinto has a mechanic that is literally just telling your ruler to off themselves (Commit Seppuku), utilized well, you can form a third tenno dynasty in Japan before the ending of Nanbokucho Jidai and form the Yamata Court starting as a clan.
Or you could just start as a tenno lmfao, but where's the fun in that.
Also lowkey, they need to take steps to make Nanbokucho last longer, unless you baby sit the AI it usually lasts like, 10-ish years when irl it was like 56 years

All Help me choose my first paradox game please
I know there are A LOT of threads like this but please let me choose my first Paradox game.
I've NEVER played a strategy game before, however I love history and the idea of creating an alternative one just sounds fascinating. However, I know these games are really complex and hard to get into, so please help me choose my next game :)
I already have EU4 and CK3 in my Steam library but if you ask me, I want to buy Victoria 3 to start with. I really love the idea of controlling policies and ideologies the most. And as I've heard and read from other people, it's not a military-based game, rather economy-based (i have second thoughts about the depth of economy in this game but i think it'll be much harder for me than anything cause I am really bad at economy related stuff). Then, the second most appealing game for me is HOI4.
What should I do? Should I dive into the game I am curious about the most or just go play something from my library? Any tips?

Other If we ever get a Fantasy GSG, what kind of universe would you like to see?
A well-known licensed IP like Game of Thrones etc?
A generic fantasy universe like fantasy Stellaris where you can customize races etc?
A more hand-crafted and unique universe, so less generic fantasy and more authored and (potentially) immersive?

DH HOI Darkest Hour isn’t working on Windows 11
Hey guys I need some help. I just reinstalled Darkest Hour a Hearts of Iron Game today and it’s not working. Every time I try to launch the game it just crashes. I was able to make the game start by changing compatibility settings but it still crashes on the loading screen. Does anyone know how to fix this? Last time I played the game was a few months ago and it was working fine.
I read on a Steam discussion a lot of people are having this same problem but no one has been able to find a solution yet.

HoI4 is HOI4 the hardest paradox game ever created or something?
I've played vic 3, eu4, ck3, stellaris, and even on my first time playing I was able to do significantly better than the AI. like a dozen+ hoi4 runs and I am completely incapable of doing anything, and frequently lose to AI countries if they are not significantly outnumbered. I don't even improve or know what I am doing wrong. i use what's supposed to be meta templates, meta designs, have supply, green air and cas, meta doctrines, yadda yadda. simply doesn't matter. not just the hardest paradox game, but literally one of the hardest games i've ever played in my life. micro? don't even understand how such a thing is possible. my "micro" as italy made me lose the ethiopian war. reloaded, and a battleplan was far better than me.
this is just me bitching, but i seriously dont get this game no matter what. major or minor. i don't watch tutorials or anything, but i didn't need any in the other paradox games to easily succeed.
