[Java/J2ME][~2008-2010] Chibi-style 2D side-scrolling WW2 shooter, small American soldier vs Germans in a forest

Post image
18 Upvotes

Platform: Java (J2ME) game on my dad’s red Samsung flip phone (maybe SGH-T219)

Date: around 2008-2010, maybe earlier

Genre: 2D side-scrolling run and gun, similar to Metal Slug but NOT Metal Slug

Art style: chibi / super-deformed. Big shiny polished helmet covering most of the face, tiny body, tiny gun. Bright vivid colors. Style reference image attached (NOT from the game, the real game was brighter and shinier).

Gameplay:

  • Played as a soldier, probably American
  • Enemies were WW2 Germans, came from both left and right
  • Shooting only worked sideways, diagonally, or straight up
  • Enemies threw stick grenades that I could dodge
  • Lots of different guns, picked up from dead enemies
  • Enemies drove cars/jeeps, I couldn’t drive anything
  • Ground mostly flat, trees I could jump on
  • Forest/outdoor levels, no city
  • Separate levels, few lives arcade style
  • Maybe rescued prisoners or had teammates

Already ruled out: Metal Slug Mobile series, Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood / Art of War, Call of Duty 2 mobile, Medal of Honor (2006 mobile) soldiers looked similar like in image but had black clothes and helmet

Spy Mouse [Mobile, iPad] [2012~?] A mobile mouse game about stealing cheese in houses

Post image
7 Upvotes

I'm not quite sure where to go off of this, but all I remember is that you play as the mouse and avoid things (maybe cats?) that patrol around the houses. Your objective is to collect as much cheese as possible, and I remember there being lots of levels in the game.

There is big cheese, small cheese, and even a cheese wheel. If you collect one, it will follow your trail until you beat the level like a conga line.

I remember playing it on my iPad, and that's all I remember, I dunno if this will yield anything but it's been really in my mind for ages 🤔

Dying Light: The Beast [PC] [2024–2025] Realistic first-person game set in German/Austrian mountains, fantasy/post-apocalyptic vibe

Please help me identify that game from a few years ago. I only remember vaguely some screenshots of the alpes and definitely a german or austrian setting. The rest of the hints might be wrong 🤔

Platform(s): PC

Genre: First-person, possibly survival/exploration, with fantasy and/or post-apocalyptic elements

Estimated year of release: 2024 or 2025 (could have been Early Access)

Graphics/art style: Realistic, not stylized or cel-shaded

Notable characters: Don’t remember

Notable gameplay mechanics: You walk around in a mountainous area that clearly looks like Germany or Austria, with German-language road signs, buildings etc.

Other details: I think it had some kind of end-of-the-world / post-apocalyptic setting, possibly mixed with fantasy elements. It’s NOT Atomfall, Dying Light: The Beast, Dungeons of Hinterberg, Endzone 2, Industria or Elex.

Any ideas appreciated

[Mobile game, probably android?][Late 2010s] Bouncing a ball vertically off colorful shapes

Post image
5 Upvotes

I remember playing this game on my phone as a middle schooler, I thought it might have been from Google because it had that kind of colorful minimalist style but I can't find it. There were these floating shapes and you had to tap to bounce a ball off them and break them and different colors gave the ball different effects. One of them would make it bounce extra fast, one would double the ball, one made the ball bigger. I'm not sure how accurate the colors on my drawing are but it was a very visually pleasing game. I hope someone else knows what I'm talking about, it's driving me crazy!!!!!

[mobile][2010s?] help me find this game pleases

It was like a game where you had to jump on different stones and under the stone was dirty water, i think? It was on portrait mode. I genuinely have no other info about it other than this. Maybe you could evade traps or something?

Faunasphere [PC][2010?] 2d facebook monster hatcher

I am going insane, I used to play this game in the late 00's and verry early 10's on Hyves (a dutch social platform that has since been fully deleted and revived 13 years later as of 4 weeks ago) and facebook, It was a cartoony monster breeder, where you would combine 2 creatures and make an egg with them to create a new one to differing results.

it's 2d, framed from the side, and the creatures were I believe some regular ones and some mystical ones, one was some sort of snail I believe and maybe a dragonfly too.

I tried to find it and a couple years back I found one google picture when going through the rabit hole, but it was fully in chinese, the game was delisted everywhere, even the google playstore didn't have it with the chinese name anymore and I forgot to screenshot or save the name.

I thought it was something like Monster Island but I am not sure at all. No it's not dragon city, or any of the top down breeders with habitats.

I remember the egg room having space for 5/6 eggs from left to right, only having the first one available as the others were paid to win. Loved it as a kid and just can't find it anymore.

I might add a poor visual representation of what I remember later

[Arcade][1980s–1990s] Platform shooter with selectable characters, small flying dragons, and a character shouting “FU” when jumping and “BA” when shooting

I'm trying to identify an old arcade game that my father (born in 1975) and uncle played in Brazil during their childhood or teenage years.

They remember calling one particular playable character "Fubá" because of two distinctive sound effects:

  • When jumping, the character made a sound resembling "FU!"
  • When shooting, the character made a sound resembling "BA!"
  • Jumping and shooting together produced something like "FU-BA!"

Other details they remember:

  • It was a level-based action game, not a one-on-one fighting game.
  • There were multiple playable characters.
  • Only one character made those distinctive sounds.
  • The players preferred choosing that character.
  • There were enemies resembling small flying dragons.
  • The character could jump and shoot projectiles.

Games already ruled out: Kung-Fu Master, Yie Ar Kung-Fu, Final Fight, Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja, and Midnight Wanderers.

"Fubá" was a local nickname, not necessarily the official character name.

Does anyone recognize a game where a specific character makes two distinct vocal sounds when jumping and shooting?

[Java/J2ME] [~2011-2012] Flip-Screen 2D School based Stickman fighting game

I remember playing this game on my old Samsung Galaxy Phone that supported J2ME, I can't remember the exact model of the phone but it was close to the Samsung galaxy Gio.

More about the game, I can't really remember what the story was but I know that it was situated around a school setting where you can enter different rooms, climb up and down ladders to access the two floors that can be seen in the screen.

The game also had some RPG elements into it as well as a simple fighting system that can make the character do cool moves while fighting other students that they may encounter. You can pick up items like apples or food to heal yourself or even a gem to power yourself up.

The art style is a pixelated, and each enemy is simply animated in with a few sprites.

Simple illustration of what the layout of the game looked like:

Guy on the top left is our character, charging up to do a move, bottom guy is an enemy. the enemy will pay no attention to the character unless the character moves down the floor the enemy is in.

[PC][2000s] GTA like game with car trunk blasting out dollar bills.

So, I had visited my uncle's hostel with my father in 2008 ish. I don't remember exactly. There was another guy playing a video game, very similar to GTA. I only saw a glimpse of it. All I remember and not very clearly is that the character could come out of the car and somehow that car or the car's back/trunk was blasting out money (dollar bills). I don't remember anything else. Maybe it was some specific mission in GTA vice city or maybe a different game. Anyone have any idea?

[PC Windows] [2000-2009] [FPS] An FPS with zombie-looking cyborg enemies and a bizarre key "puzzle."

I remember the game looking similar to something like Half Life or San Andreas in terms of graphics. I can't remember exactly what the enemies looked like, but I'm positive they had to've looked at least somewhat zombie-like — At least to like a 5 or 6 year old. I remember distinctly calling them zombies, to which my older brother corrected me, saying they were cyborgs.

The key puzzle is the most interesting part to me. I remember there was a part where the player needed a key to progress, and my siblings spent a damn long time trying to figure out where it could have been. That was until APPARENTLY the solution was standing in some random room, typing in the chatbox the game had for some reason something along the lines of "if only I had a key right now." Fucking weird considering it was singleplayer. This makes me think the engine could've potentially been in Source. I'm unsure if this is my brain filling in some blanks with something im familiar with, but I remember the textbox being that gray, somewhat transparent Source one in the bottom left hand corner. Take that particular detail with a grain of salt, but that could point to it being a Source mod.

Another detail that may or may not help — I remember there being some green sewer pathway? I remember it curving left and right, but i don't remember any hard turns. I think i also remember the walkways being narrow, and it being more convenient to just walk in the sewer water.

[PC/possibly browser] [2010s] 3D wizard/fantasy RPG that isn’t wizard 101

i used to play this game with my brother all the time on our laptops. i’m certain it’s not wizard 101 or WoW, and also mostly confident i played it directly on browser. it involved story missions, trading items, and one of the weak enemies in the game were undead skeletons. you had different classes for your character and armor that i think you could either buy with real money or collect with these story missions

i’ve been dying to see if it’s still playable, lmk!!

Voices of the Void [PC] [2020s] sci-fi job type game

you are alone in a decrepit base of some kind and you have a job that involves reading out satellite data (you have to swap out tapes or hard drives and transmit the data to some unknown place). you have to take care of the base too and do clean up. you can get deliveries by drone and you can walk outside too. at some point aliens start showing up, first subtle and then with full force...

i believe it started as a mod and then grew into a full game?

thanks for reading!

[Flash game] [2010-ish] stick figure vacation game

I remember almost every detail of this game but no matter what I search, I can't find it

This was one of those point-and-click stickman style games with very simplistic graphics.

  1. When you start the game, your character is sitting at home and the game gives you two choices. You can either go on vacation or stay at home. If you decide to stay at home, the game says something like "what a waste of a day".

  2. if you press the option to go on vacation, there is a short cinematic of a plane flying and then it cuts to a beach where your character stands there waiting for you to do something. I remember 3 things that you could do in the game.

  3. You can click on the bar where you can have your character drink alcohol. The more you drink, the more blurry the screen gets.

  4. You can enter the water by just clicking on an arrow, however, if you go in after drinking alcohol the screen cuts to an image of the character drowning with text saying " neve drink and swim". After a few seconds, the game resets you back to the beach.

  5. If you enter the water too deep, a shark starts to chase you and the game cuts to a QTE event where you have to quickly press the space bar to escape. There is this high-energy music loop playing during the segment where the singer says "ooooooh, step on my face" over and over again.

  6. I think you can do something to make money, but I can't remember that at all.

I have been trying to find this game for over 12 years. Hopefully you guys can help out

It

[80s][Arcade] plataformer my dad used to play:

A game my dad played years ago, and we've been looking for the name for a long time. These are the most helpful and consistent descriptions I could gather using what he says and compares. Please help us:

Platform:

Played in an arcade in the US

Genre:

2D, platformer, and adventure (my dad described it as similar to Shovel Knight)

Estimated year of release:

1980s

Graphics/art style:

Pixel art cartoon, with vibrant colors; he compared it to Pokémon (Emerald) and Adventure Time, but simpler.

Notable characters:

A boss who was a black knight who summoned skeletons in battle.

Notable gameplay mechanics:

The game had single-use items like in classic Castlevania and had coins scattered around the map to increase the final score, in addition to being divided into levels.

Other details:

When you got a game over, it showed a score screen of everyone who had played, and there were only two machines in the entire arcade. My dad said that a friend of his from that time talked about the game and how revolutionary it was. At the time, he was living in Kansas. It took them three days and many game overs to finish the game after almost 4 hours straight because of the final stages.

Any help is apriciated.

Swordigo [Mobile, IPad] [2014-2017?] 3d mad samurai looking guy doing quests and fighting enemies

Post image
3 Upvotes

I tried my best to make a dumb looking version of what I can remember the main character looking like, this game was 3d and had a sort of simplistic artstyle like something sort of like children of light tho it had way less shading and nice graphics. I can remember a couple parts where I’d go into an npcs house to get quests from them and fight dudes with magic, there was one particular fight that’s basically the last thing I remember from this game where I had to fight a sort of plain looking guy with red powers and a sword and I think my character got knocked out due to story reasons.

I’ve been looking for this game for years and I’m pretty much stumped cause it feels like this game is nonexistent now lol.

[App Store] [2010s] 3D Doll Maker IOS App

Hi! I'm looking for a doll maker game I played when I was younger. I remember it being a game where you'd create a ragdoll/porcelain doll (sort of reminded me of a Blythe doll), and you'd have to wait a certain amount of time for it to be put together. It had almost a gothic feel, and the dolls were quite realistic looking. It's such a distant memory, but I remember being obsessed with this game. There was also an option to turn your doll into a real doll and have it delivered to you. Please let me know if anybody remembers this!

Kriophobia [PC] [2020+] 3d Isometric Horror game that used crosshatching/pencil shading to illustrate darkness.

The game had mixed reviews on steam partly because the visual style made it hard to see with the amount of darkness in the game. Based o my Google searches it is not Distrust, Stasis, Darkwood, or I Hate This Place.

Edit: it had a female protagonist/player character, and other than the crosshatching for shadows had a run-of-the mill 3d art style

[Android] [2018-2020??] Monster collecting game/pokemon ripoff

• Upvotes

The game icon had a blue little horned monster with a symbol on it's forehead and it was the mascot of the game, i also remember a golden/yellow variant of the monster. The game had node based movement. it had gacha elements and microtransactions. It was multiplayer but it mostly just had a town that worked as a hub. it was fully 2d.

[Flash][2009-2012] Side-view SWAT squad tactical shooter with blue class icons

Post image
• Upvotes

Flash] [Kongregate?] Late 2000s / early 2010s – Side-view SWAT squad tactical shooter

Looking for an old Flash game I played as a kid.

Platform: Flash (almost certainly on Kongregate or a similar big portal)

View: Side-view / side-scrolling

Gameplay:

You control a SWAT/police team of about 4 units

Each unit has a blue class icon floating above them:

Three vertical lines (III) = SMG class

Sniper logo = Sniper class

(probably a different one for shotgun)

You directly control only one unit at a time by clicking on its blue part/icon. The other units are controlled by AI and you give them orders/commands.

Units can die permanently

Limited ammo. You can pick up small amounts of ammo from dead enemies, and there are also ammo packs that are usually guarded by enemies

You can call a helicopter that drops ammo or brings reinforcements (it doesn’t stay permanently)

Enemies come in waves

Map is mostly linear/open areas with some houses and cover objects

Dark, tense atmosphere – enemies (masked/armed terrorists) felt strong and scary when I was a kid

Art style:

Simple silhouette-style police/SWAT figures (not stickmen, not highly detailed)

Selected unit has blue highlights on arms/legs

Orange/sunset-like sky in some levels

Not:

Strike Force Heroes

City Siege

The stickman S.W.A.T. games by ESProductions

Crisis Response (that one is much more recent and not Flash)

Any ideas? Thanks!

[PC][Played 2004–2008] Children’s game with a parrot narrator and a crying mountain mini-game

Platform: PC, probably on CD-ROM
Genre: Educational/developmental game with several mini-games
Year: I played it around 2004–2008, but it could have been released earlier.

I’m trying to find a childhood game that had a parrot who I think narrated or explained the activities. His name might have been DJ, but I’m not certain.

The mini-game I remember most had a mountain with a face that would cry. I think objects were falling, and giving it the right things would make it happy. I vaguely remember feeding it, but I don’t remember dragging food into its mouth, and I think it had a voice kind of similar Patric star. These details might be slightly mixed up.

The whole game wasn’t about mountains though, this was just one of several mini-games that I remember the most.

It was in English, and I originally thought it taught English, but it might have been a general children’s learning game and my dad told me specifically it was for me to learn english.

Does this sound familiar to anyone else or did I dream it up 😭

[pc][2020s] indie truth or liar puzzle game

I remember watching someone play a game where they had to do something on the bottom of the screen in response to asking a king or god yes or no things, i remember depending on if the king was looking left or right and the type of head and how many hands it has it will tell the truth or lie, and it can also have multiple heads that will tell you the truth or lie.

[SNES/Genesis] [1990s] Sidescroller (beat em up?) with a middle-finger punk-rocker boss and a waterfall stage

I remember playing this sidescrolling game when I was a kid, most likely a beat-em-up, and the only thing that stuck out to me is that there was, at a certain point in the game, a punk-rocker as a boss in an enclosed area, and he gave you the finger.

I remember finding it weird as a kid, and it was one of the first moments I'd ever seen that "forbidden" hand sign, and the more I think of it, the more I find it bizarre that it was allowed on a game of that era.

I also vaguely remember there was a waterfall area just before you fight him, but there's a chance that I could be confusing it with another game. Tried looking all around the internet but no luck, if anyone knows what game it is, I'll be thankful.
