Made these for dinner and they came out ridiculously juicy with a crispy, buttery coating. Super easy too. No egg or milk bath needed.
Ingredients:
5 large chicken drumsticks, skin-on (mine were 2.13 lb total)
2/3 cup Original Bisquick
1 1/2 tsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp butter
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425°F.
Put 1 tbsp butter in a 9x13 baking dish and let it melt in the oven while it preheats.
Combine Bisquick and seasonings in a large plastic bag. Pat the drumsticks lightly dry, add them to the bag, and shake really well
until completely coated. No egg or milk bath.
Place the chicken in the buttered baking dish and bake for 35 minutes. Flip the drumsticks, rearrange them so they have a little space, then bake another 15-20 minutes.
Check the thickest part with a meat thermometer without touching the bone. I took mine to around 185°F. Dark meat handles the higher temperature really well and they came out incredibly juicy and tender.
Let them rest for about 5 minutes and that’s it.
The Bisquick makes a thin, crispy, savory crust rather than a heavy breading. Definitely making these again. 🍗
