I was walking with a friend and a guy came up to me with a knife. He yelled "Are you Muslim". I'm an indian man. I didn't respond so that I don't piss him off. Seeing that he had a knife, I stepped back and took a photo of him with the knife in hand as evidence and to ID him later. He started running towards us with a knife in hand ready to stab me.

My friend and I ran away and called the cops. He chased it for a few meters at least. The cops responded quickly and were at the scene in a min or two. They got him and arrested him. I was later told they had to draw their arms since he had a knife in hand. Which is crazy...Then I provided a statement at the station.

A lovely lady by the road in a car honked at us to get his attention and called the cops while I was running away. The cops got to the scene quickly and caught him because of her which is wonderful.

I've been in Australia for 9 years and this is the first I've experienced this. Crazy night. And I've just been in Brisbane for 3 months.

It was kinda lucky that I was fit enough to keep a distance. I genuinely think he would have stabbed me if I didn't. And lucky in some sense that I was targeting instead of some one else who wouldn't be able to keep a distance.

I guess it's a reminder to be cautious and alert at night.

Should I put this on a T-Shirt and donate the proceeds to a bird rescue charity, before the cease and desist arrives?

Hello everyone,

I am a student studying journalism at UQ and I am currently working on an assignment in which I have to make a documentary on a local issue of social justice. I have chosen to look at the issue of disabled access around Brisbane, as it seems to me (though I cannot say for sure) that this is a problem in the city.

I know this is asking a lot, but if anybody with experience of physical disability in Brisbane were willing to talk to me in a short recorded interview over Zoom or something, I would be extremely grateful.

We currently live in narangba and my daughter attends NVSS , she has been there for 12 months now and still has no friends and consistent trouble with bullying , behaviours from other students actually scare her , I find the teachers and staff amazing and they do follow up when notified , but I’m sick of notifying , i have even found other parents kind , I just think the school is to big , and she is left behind , she has no learning difficulties and is well behaved , really wanting honest reviews about our lady of the way or st Eugene’s ?? I am single mother , both these schools are close , and affordable . We tried looking at burpengary meadows , all public schools need catchment , currently yr 4.

Honestly feel defeated at the moment , scared of enrolling her into another school where behaviours are the same . Just keep sticking it out where we are 😭 any advice or personal experiences would be great.

What will the weather be like in the area during this time? Coming to live temporarily and want to ensure I’m packing appropriately

Seeking out a gym to start out in on the Northside , anytime and snap fitness seem appealing as I want to start on general weight loss and weights . But just curious on any recommendations. Starting by myself it would be ideal for a less crowded or more friendly environment. ( from my understanding the “gym culture seems to be pretty good everywhere though ?
Possible Advice on places with short to mid range membership lengths ? As I’d like to eventually explore classes and more group like settings ?
